THEY are no strangers to breaking records and husband and wife training partnership Shane and Lauren Tritton have added another milestone to their name.

The formidable duo claimed the 2018/19 New South Wales Metropolitan Trainers’ Premiership - the consecutive year they have done so.

Equaling the record of winners they have trained in a season since forming their official partnership in 2016, the Trittons won 117 races last term with 40.5 of those at the highest level at Tabcorp Park Menangle.

“We had another great season and went in with the focus of racing our horses at metropolitan level to get the biggest return for our owners,” Shane said.

“Highlights for us was definitely Muscle Factory winning the Group 1 Victoria Derby and also his Simpson Memorial victory where he set an Australasian record in 1:49.6.

“Also Yayas Hot Spot’s Group 1 win in the Newcastle Mile . . . it was great to see the horse crack a Group 1 win and it was also special because both Lauren and I started our careers in that region.”

Before relocating to the Menangle Park Training Centre in 2016, ‘Team Tritton’ was based at Keinbah in NSW’s Hunter Region.

They trained many winners from that property and claimed many premierships as well.

“We’ve won the Hunter Valley, Maitland, Newcastle, Bankstown, provincial Menangle and state premierships before,” Shane said.

In the 2014/2015 season, Shane was the leading state trainer in NSW with 220 winners – a record of the most amount of wins a NSW trainer has obtained in a season.

And that record still stands.

It was this same season Lauren became the youngest person in Australia to drive 500 winners.

She also won the NSW Drivers’ Premiership that season at the age of 22.

Lauren has also claimed the 2013/14 Metropolitan Drivers Premiership and the Concession Drivers’ Premiership in 2013/14 as well as 2014/15.

The 2013/14 season was a big year for Lauren as she not only obtained her first Group 1 winner with Gaius Caesar in the Bohemia Crystal, she went on to win another two Group 1 races with that pacer with success also in the Cordina Farms Sprint and the Len Smith Mile.

Lauren and Shane have since combined to win many Group 1 races since then including the Breeders Crown with Marty Monkhouser and the Cordina Sprint with Suave Stuey Lombo in 2014. In 2016 they claimed the Vicbred Final with Tingira Beach and last year won the Bohemia Crystal with Franco Nelson and the Albion Park Gold Final with Muscle Factory.
