Racing and Sports Menangle Mail - November 1

31 October 2025

Star pacer Swayzee (pictured) will be on trial for another trip across the Tasman for a tilt at a third New Zealand Cup when he heads to Menangle on Saturday night.

Smart pair Golly Gee Fellas and Business In Heaven both look well placed in their respective races dropping in class off the Breeders Challenge series.

Race 1: MENANGLE PARK COMMUNITY PACE
MIKI COHEN (9) led as favourite last start at Melton and while he couldn't see it out he still boxed on for second. A wide barrier poses a challenge but he has the gate speed to offset that and looks suited returning to a circuit where he had won three of his previous four starts. MIKIBEQUICK (8) added to a string of wins and placings when he led and boxed on for second last week. Draws deeper but he had won his previous two at this venue and distance so the recent form is hard to knock. MISTER BLUECHIP (10) draw wide but will be fitter for the resuming fourth in a higher-graded race and won twice here last campaign. FORCE FULL (5) did a good job to come from a similar draw for a 3.5m third in the Breeders Challenge 4EG Final last week. RAGING SEA (1) broke last week but won here three back and is aided by the ace draw.

Race 2: BESTINBEDS.COM.AU PACE
HUTA (6) has been flying since joining Jason Grimson, making it three in row at this circuit and distance when cruising home by more than 8m. Has led in each of those and has the gate speed to push forward again from this barrier so can add to the picket fence. PROMISING (4) added to a series of wins and placings when he scored from wider here two back then stepped up to this grade and chased Huta as runner-up last week. It won't be easy to turn the tables but he does start inside that rival this time. OUR GEORGE BOSTON (3) scored for the fourth time in his last six starts when he came from the back row to win the West Wyalong Cup last time. The runner-up franked the form by winning here since and he draws well. GUILTY PARTY (1) won here three back and has been solid from wider barriers in two starts in this grade since so could be competitive.

Race 3: CORDINA CHICKEN FACTORY OUTLET PACE
BUSINESS IN HEAVEN (7) had little luck when racing three wide in the G1 Breeders Challenge 3CG Final last week so there was plenty of merit in his effort to finish only 6.6m off the winner. Led from a similar draw to this when beaten only 1.2m as runner-up in his semi-final here prior. Looks very well placed dropping in grade. MYNAMESEVAN (6) recorded back-to-back Wagga seconds from wider draws before racing parked from this barrier and scoring by more than 7m at Goulburn last time. Won his only try at this distance. Go well. MONTEFIORE (5) could be close to a win after a coming from wider barriers to miss by just a head in his last two appearances here. HAS THE COURAGE (1) will be fitter second up and is better served by the ace draw.

Race 4: GRAHAM MCNEICE MEMORIAL
SWAYZEE (11) has had a setback since he was beaten into second as a hot favourite four weeks ago but the form from that race has been franked with the winner Kingman going on to take out the Victoria Cup. Better known over further than a mile but his strike rate sits at 50 per cent and he loves racing here. If he is anywhere near his best he would be too good. MAX DELIGHT (10) has had six weeks off but has been kept up to the mark with a trial. Scored back-to-back wins here in August and is a reliable campaigner. HORN PLAYER (8) only beat one home in the Victoria Cup last start but this easier and he had put together a string of wins and placings prior, highlighted by his Caduceus Classic success at Melton. KINGMAKER (9) worked hard and faded when resuming. Draws wide again but will strip fitter and is capable of much better.

Race 5: CLUB MENANGLE NICK ROBIN FINAL (LISTED CLASSIC)
JANIE BLU (1) could be ready to a win after adding to a string of close-up efforts here last start when she raced three wide but fought strongly to go under by just a head. Had performed well from a series of wide barriers prior so will enjoy the inside draw. SUNSET STRIDE (4) recorded back-to-back seconds at this circuit and distance before overcoming a wide barrier to score at Wagga last time. She too is well served by a better draw so should get her chance. DOUGS FLAME (10) may need some luck from a wide barrier but made it two wins in row when scoring from a similar draw here last time. HES A MEISTER (6) has been good from wider draws here of late, particularly his 2.8m second after racing parked two back. YUKON BE SERIOUS (7) deserves respect after winning from wider last start.

Race 6: ULTRA AIR PACE
ARGGGHHH (5) galloped out when tackling a Listed race last start but looked very good when beating topliner Max Delight in a trial win since. Kicked off for this yard with a second here two back when he led from one spot wider than this. Can push forward and prove hard to catch. FRANCO TYSON (3) led early but was headed off and then held up last week so it may pay to forget that result. Won twice in a row here prior and draws well so is worth another chance. DOUBLE ACT (6) draws wider but hasn't been far from the placegetters of late and this looks a suitable assignment. MACH DA VINCI (1) has been struggling to find his best for a while but should get every chance from the inside draw.

Race 7: BE HAPPY MACH @ WINGATE FARM TROTTERS MOBILE
SPEEDY LOVER (9) draws out so may be relying on luck but was good from a similar barrier last week, beaten only 2.6m into fourth at Listed level. Had won two of his previous four here. Has claims at each way odds. JUNGLE EYES (7) is in purple patch of form with back-to-back wins at this circuit. Led from this barrier and kept going in easier company two back before again finding the front for a Listed win last week. Draws deeper but beat many of these rivals last time. PESCO POLLO (5) drew widest and worked when runner-up last start. Had won four in a row prior, three of them here. The lower draw could see him return to winning form. COURAGE STRIDE (8) draws deep but could be working his way towards a win having chased Jungle Eyes as runner-up last week.

Race 8: BUBBA GUMP PEST CONTROL LADYSHIP PACE
GOLLY GEE FELLAS (5) found the front as a hot favourite in last week's Breeders Challenge 4M Final but couldn't hold off the good mare Lux Aeterna and had to settle for a 4m second. Had won two in a row at this circuit and distance prior, coming from wider than this to beat that same rival two back. In form and nicely placed. PANDAIA (7) hasn't raced since the G1 Golden Girl in Brisbane in July but has been readied with a trial and usually races well when fresh. Capable mare who can make an impact. DELIGHTFUL STAR (2) came from this barrier to miss by just a head when tackling the G3 Ladyship Cup at Melton last start. A repeat of that effort would see her in the finish. LUVARESCHS (6) has chased Golly Gee Fellas home at her last couple but the efforts have been sound and she draws a little lower than last week. ONYX SHARD (1) must be respected from the ace draw.

BEST BETS:
Race 6 #5 Arggghhh – Looked good in a recent trial win and is nicely placed.
Race 8 #5 Golly Gee Fellas – In-form mare who looks a level above these rivals.
