Prizes on offer for APG Sydney Yearling Parade

A parade of yearlings for the Australian Pacing Gold Sydney sale will be conducted by the Committee of Harness Breeders New South Wales on Friday, February 23.

The parade, which has been organised by HBNSW president Flora Robson, secretary Marie Neil and treasurer and media officer Karen Kemp, will commence at 7pm in the outside parade ring at the Inglis Riverside Stables Complex.

Free food and drinks will be available throughout the evening courtesy of APG.

It is anticipated that around 60 yearlings will parade with most likely the fillies going first followed by the colts.

“The Parade is another means by which we are endeavouring to support our breeders here in NSW, affording potential buyers a select opportunity to preview these athletic youngsters, evaluate their temperament, conformation and gait in this boutique sale prior to the sale on Sunday,” Flora said.

“It also gives the youngsters exposure to the public.”

The judge for the parade is experienced Hawkesbury horsewoman Brittney Newham. She has prepared Show horses of her own on a regular basis and is completely independent from any harness racing vendors.

The parade will carry valuable trophies from the sponsors Harness Breeders NSW, Harness Racing NSW and International Animal Health Products.

HBNSW will supply rugs and head collars for the winners of the best presented colt and filly.

In addition, HBNSW will provide cash prizes of $500 each to the vendor of the two winners, as well as $250 each to the vendors of the runners-up in each section.

International Animal Health will donate gift packs of their products to the preparers of the winners and runners-up in both divisions.

Harness Racing NSW will provide $1,000 Breeders Bonus Certificates to the winning breeder in each division, as well as $500 Breeders Bonus Certificates to the breeders of the runners-up in each section.

In addition, HRNSW will supply six fully paid up NSW Breeders Challenge Series Fees for three colts and three fillies that took part in the parade. These will be drawn from a barrel and the buyers of those lots will win the fully paid up NSW Breeders Challenge Series Fees.

The yearling parade will be hosted by Club Menangle racing manager David Wonson and APG sales consultant John Coffey.
