RACE 1 – HRNSW THREE YEAR OLD FOUNDATION TROTTERS SERIES HEAT 2 – 1609 metres

Pre race blood samples were taken from MOONSHINE STRIDE.

CRITTER BOY became unbalanced and galloped shortly after the start. In view of the colt’s recent record, CRITTER BOY will be excluded from the mobile barrier draw.

Approaching the 450 metres, MOONSHINE STRIDE became unbalanced and galloped. In view of the filly’s recent record, MOONSHINE STRIDE was stood down until it completes one requalifying trial.

Post race swab samples were taken from CALIGULA NZ.

RACE 2 – BIG JACK HAMMER LADYSHIP TROTTERS MOBILE – 1609 metres

Pre race blood samples were taken from MARYEL.

Driver C Geary (SASSY PANTS NZ) was fined $50 under rule 162(1)(h) for failing to come up into position at the start.

SASSY PANTS NZ improved three wide from the 1000 metres until obtaining the lead passing the 750 metres.

MARYEL became unbalanced and galloped approaching the 200 metres. In view of the mare’s recent record, a warning was issued.

Driver B Fitzpatrick (REIGN ON ME NZ) was issued a reprimand under rule 168(1)(a) for careless driving in that approaching the 200 metres REIGN ON ME NZ (B Fitzpatrick) improved onto the back of TORFINO MIST (R Morris) and contacted the offside sulky wheel causing that tyre to flatten. In taking no further action Stewards noted that TORFINO MIST had shifted up the track marginally at the point of contact.

Post race swab samples were taken from SASSY PANTS NZ.

RACE 3 – MULTIQUIP TROTTERS MOBILE - 1609 metres

Pre race blood samples were taken from VIKSUN.

BOURBONELLA NZ became unbalanced and galloped during the score up and took no competitive part in the event. In view of the mare’s recent record, a warning was issued.

FIVE STAR TRUMP hung in during the latter stages of the score up and again after the start.

KOOL KAT KYVALLEY became unbalanced and galloped shortly after the start. Driver G McElhinney explained the horse was keen racing up to the mobile barrier. In view of the recent record of KOOL KAT KYVALLEY, the horse will continue to be excluded from the mobile barrier draw.

HOTTER THAN SALLY became unbalanced and galloped shortly after the start. In view of the mare’s recent record, a warning was issued.

WAH KEEN shied at the shadow of the light post approaching the 300 meters and raced roughly momentarily. In view of the circumstances no action was taken.

An inquiry was opened into the circumstances surrounding VIKSUN (M Muscat) appearing to shift down the track passing the 75 metres which afforded a run to FIVE STAR TRUMP (D McCall). After taking evidence from driver M Muscat and reviewing the patrol footage, the inquiry was adjourned to allow Stewards to further consider Mr Muscat’s evidence and also to review wagering on this event. A time and date for the resumption of this inquiry has not yet been set.

RACE 4 – ALABAR TROTTERS MOBILE - 1609 metres

Pre race blood samples were taken from GOLD SOVEREIGN NZ.

MAXIMISER over raced throughout the event when positioned outside the leader.

CASTLEREAGH NZ was caught racing three wide in the early stages before being restrained to the tail of the field approaching the 1100 metres.

AGENT MAORI became unbalanced and galloped approaching the 1100 metres and again at the 400 metres. A post race veterinary examination revealed the gelding to have a small cut on the near side hind hock which required no treatment. As the gelding galloped on two occasions and for some distance, AGENT MAORI was stood down until it completes one requalifying trial.

SAY YOUR PRES NZ became unbalanced and galloped at the 400 metres. In view of the mare’s recent record, a warning was issued.

CASTLEREAGH NZ will now be re-included into the mobile barrier draw.

Driver C Geary (SUNSET TOUR) was cautioned in relation to his whip use in the home straight on the final occasion.

Post race swab samples were taken from SUNSET TOUR.

RACE 5 – RACING THIS FRIDAY NIGHT PACE - 1609 metres

Pre race blood samples were taken from PLAY UP A STORM.

COLBY NZ worked forward to obtain the lead passing the 1150 metres.

Approaching the 900 metres, the number two carrying strap broke on ROCK BOTTOM NZ. The carrying straps were inspected and found to be of suitable quality. In the circumstances no direct action was taken.

Post race swab samples were taken from TRUE BLUE STRIDE.

RACE 6 – MAX DELIGHT WORLD RECORD CLAIMING PACE - 1609 metres

Pre race blood samples were taken from DEANO ROBYN NZ.

Approaching the 1050 metres, EL GRAN SENOR NZ (I Ross) was retired from the event after the near side front hopple loop had become detached from the connecting strap and the horse had stepped out of the hopple loop. After the event the gear was inspected and was found to be of suitable quality. After taking evidence from driver I Ross and trainer’s representative A Turnbull, the matter was adjourned to allow stewards to review CCTV footage and review wagering on the event.

Approaching the 550 metres, the near side front hopple loop broke on INTRANSIT resulting in that gelding stepping out of its hopple loop and raced for the remainder of the event with its nearside for leg out of its hopple. After taking evidence from driver A Turnbull, the matter was adjourned to allow stewards to review CCTV footage and review wagering on the event.

MURRY was unable to secure clear running in the early stages of the home straight until the 150 metres when a run to the inside of OH I AM THE ONE NZ became available.

RACE 7 – OUR PRINCESS TIFFANY WORLD RECORD CLAIMING PACE - 1609 metres

Pre race blood samples were taken from EXCITEUSINTHECITY.

A PASSION FOR ACES was examined prior to and after the running of race 7 as the gelding has competed in excess of 200 race starts. No obvious abnormalities were detected on either examination.

Driver J Trainor (EXCITEUSINTHECITY) was issued a reprimand under rule 163(1)(b) for forcing CONTROVERSIAL NZ to cover more ground than necessary in that passing the 600 metres he has shifted EXCITEUSINTHECITY wider on the track when having CONTROVERSIAL NZ to his outside causing that runner to be forced three wide. In not taking more severe action Stewards were mindful of the evidence tendered by driver S Lippiatt in relation to where her horse was positioned in relation to EXCITEUSINTHECITY.

Post race swab samples were taken from DEEKAYS DOLLAR.

RACE 8 – AINSWORTH GAMING TECHNOLOGY PACE - 1609 metres

AUDACE was examined prior to and after the running of race 8 as the gelding has not competed for over 12 months. No obvious abnormalities were detected on either examination.

NAVUA STAR became unbalanced and galloped during the score up and as a result was out of position at the start. In view of the gelding’s recent record, a warning was issued.

AUDACE was caught racing three wide in the early stages before being restrained to the tail of the field approaching the 1100 metres.

Approaching the 200 metres, NAVUA STAR improved onto the sulky wheel DENSTOWN whilst being unable to secure clear racing room. As no driver was found to be careless the incident was noted.

An inquiry was opened into the circumstances surrounding NAVUA STAR (B Fitzpatrick) appearing to be checked and racing roughly when racing to the outside of AUDACE (G Andrews) approaching the 50 metres. After taking evidence from both drivers and reviewing the Stewards patrol footage it was established that as runners approached the 50 metres, AUDACE was under restraint as a result of being held up and has run up the track and improved inside the line of NAVUA STAR resulting in that runner being checked. As no driver was found to be careless, Stewards noted the incident.

DIZZY MISS LIZZY NZ was unable to secure clear running in the home straight on the final occasion and was not fully tested.

RACE 9 – NATIONAL TROTGUIDE PACE - 1609 metres

Pre race blood samples were taken from IM ROCKNROLL MAGIC NZ.

CHRISTMAS TOYBOY NZ became unbalanced and galloped shortly after the start and took no competitive part in the event. In view of the gelding’s recent record, a warning was issued.

IM ROCKNROLL MAGIC NZ raced three wide in the early stages until obtaining the position outside the leader at the 1100 metres.

FALCON STRIDE raced three wide in the early stages until obtaining the position outside the leader at the 1050 metres.
