RACE 1 – OSKAR MEMORIALS PACE – 1770 metres

 

Pre- race swab samples were taken from SUNOASIS

 

JUNGLE DANCER showed gate speed to lead the event before breaking free of any interference leaving the 1600m, the horse continued to race roughly before breaking again leaving the 1500m and fell to the track. JUNGLE DANCER could not be removed from the track in time and the race had to be called off. JUNGLE DANCER was made a Late Scratching by order of the Clubs Veterinarian at 6.30pm.

All the horses were then inspected by the Clubs Veterinarian and passed fit to race. Stewards then spoke to all remaining Drivers and all were happy for the race to be re-run. At a subsequent inquiry Driver Mr P Sapio stated that maybe when he had to take hold of his runner approaching the first corner it may have touched it’s knee and became unbalanced. Stewards noted his comments and due to the horses record a warning was placed on JUNGLE DANCER, on advice from the Clubs Veterinarian JUNGLE DANCER was stood down for 28 Days.

 

Driver Mr P Sapio was examined by the attending Medical Officers and passed fit to take his later engagements.

 

At the commencement of the re-start MAJOR JAMANE was out of position for which a warning was issued.

 

BETTORBETBIG showed gate speed to lead the event.

 

MAYBE SHES PERFECT was caught wide early and restrained to last.

 

A post-race swab sample was taken from the winner JUST JOY

 

RACE 2 –ACT TYREPOWER BELCONNEN PACE – 1770 metres

 

Pre-race swab samples were taken from TWO REAL

 

BLACK DERBY showed gate speed to lead the event.

 

STUDLEIGH STRIDE showed gate speed before being caught wide until the 1100m before having to be restrained to last.

 

MODERN ATTITUDE was caught wide before being restrained to last leaving the 1400m.

 

MISSING A BOLT commenced a 3 wide run leaving the 800m giving MODERN ATTITUDE a 3 wide trail into the race before MODERN ATTITUDE began to tire leaving the 400m.

 

MOVIN MILLIONS was held up late and contacted a marker peg.

 

 

A post-race swab sample was taken from the winner CLASSIC GRANGE

 

RACE 3 – ACT PA HIRE PACE - 2170 meters

 

Pre-race swab samples were taken from STORMY RAIDER

 

STORMY RAIDER broke in the score up and was out of position at the start for which a warning was issued.

 

SHARK OF WHITBY showed gate speed to lead the event.

 

FASTEST GIRL IN TOWN was caught wide before working forward to race outside the leader leaving the 1800m.

 

LOXLEY commenced a 3 wide run leaving the 1600m providing a trail for LETTUCEFIRESTAR who continued to work forward to a position outside the leader leaving the 1300m.

 

LOXLEY broke stride free of any interference leaving the 1200m and continued to gallop excessively before being retired from the event. At subsequent inquiry Driver M Hewitt could offer no explanation for the Geldings behaviour. Stewards stood LOXLEY down for 1 requalifying trial.

 

When leaving the 500m Driver C Hart was told by the stewards to exercise more care when shifting from the marker line on his runner PANACIAS SEAL.

 

MAHOGANY STRIDE was caught wide early and restrained to last before tiring. Stewards placed a warning on his performance.

 

 

A post-race swab sample was taken from the winner STORMY RAIDER

 

RACE 4 – TAB.COM.AU PACE – 2170 metres

 

Pre-race swab samples were taken from DON’T CALL ME CRAZY

 

LIGHTING SCOOTER was out of position at the start when questioned by the Stewards Driver L Hooper stated that he was worried about the racing manners of the horse he was following as it has a history of breaking. Stewards reminded Mr Hooper of his obligation to maintain his position during the score up and a warning was placed on LIGHTING SCOOTER.

 

MADAM LEZA showed gate speed to lead the event.

 

DON’T CALL ME CRAZY was caught wide until the 1800m before being restrained to last.

 

GOLD ONYX commenced a 3 wide run and worked forward to race outside the leader from the 1600m.

 

LIGHTING SCOOTER commenced a 3 wide run leaving the 900m providing DON’T CALL ME CRAZY with a trail into the race. When leaving the 700m GOLD ONYX began to tire and momentarily locked wheels wIth LIGHTING SCOOTER who hung in slightly at the same time. No action was taken by the Stewards.

DON’T CALL ME CRAZY was forced to go 4 wide from the 500m when GOLD ONYX began to tire.

 

KENFURY LASS was held up for a run from the 400m to the winning post.

 

A post-swab was taken from the winner MADAM LEZA

 

RACE 5 – GLEN MIA ACT PTY LTD PACE – 2170 metres

 

Pre-race swab samples were taken from SPORTMANSHIP

 

CRIME TIME was examined by the Clubs Veterinarian before the race due to having competed the day before at the Riverina Paceway and passed fit to start.

 

SPELLBINDING showed gate speed to lead the event.

 

Driver S Hallcroft was told to exercise more care and reminded of his clearance to horses inside him when crossing down to the marker line.

 

 SPORTMANSHIP was restrained after the start and caught wide before restrained to last leaving the 1700m.

 

Leaving the 1500m SWORD AND SHIELD worked 3 wide and leaving the 1200m obtained the lead.

 

Leaving the 800m OUR SAMS HOME worked 3 wide providing a trail to CRIME TIME. Leaving the 700m GOLD CHESTER began a 3 wide run providing a trail to OUR SAMS HOME. CRIME TIME had to move 4 wide leaving the 500m when OUR SAMS HOME began to tire.

RACE 6 – QUEABYEAN PRE MIX CONCRETE PACE –1770 metres

 

Pre-race swab samples were taken from MISTER HINDMARSH

 

SLICK SUE showed gate speed to lead the event.

 

 

MISTER HINDMARSH was caught 3 wide early before being restrained before working forward and racing outside the leader from the 1200m.

 

MCDREAMY GUY (M Johnson) was caught wide early whilst over racing and despite the efforts of it’s Driver continued to race 3 wide until leaving the 800m when he began to tire and was beaten 84.5m. At a subsequent inquiry Driver Mr Johnson stated that after he began well the horse fired up and due to the moderate first half sectionals was difficult to restrain the horse. Stewards stood MCDREAMY GUY down for 1 requalifying trial for his performance, but the horse was also placed Back In Mobile Draw.

 

Leaving the 800m THE BIG BAD WOLF commenced as 3 wide run before starting to tire leaving the 400m.

 

A post-race swab sample was taken from the winner PEACHYPIE

RACE 7 – JW O’SULLIVAN & SONS THREE YEAR OLD PACE – 1770 metres

 

Pre-race swab samples were taken from STUDLEIGH SONNY

 

IM BRUCE ALMIGHTY showed gate speed to lead the event.

 

ROLLOUT showed gate speed to race outside the leader before STUDLEIGH SONNY commenced a 3 wide run leaving the 1400m and worked forward to take up that position.

 

A post-race sample was taken from the winner IM BRUCE ALMIGHTY

 

RACE 8 – QUEANBEYAN CARPETS THREE YEAR OLD FILLIES PACE – 1770 metres

 

Pre-race swab samples were taken from ROCK THIS WAY

 

FUNNY FEELING raced greenly in the score up. After the race Stewards spoke to Driver M Hewitt to ascertain if he was happy with the start. Mr Hewitt stated that although he may have been slightly hampered it did not affect the outcome of the race and All Clear was given. At a subsequent inquiry Driver Mr G Judd stated that the Filly was only having her 6th start and is still improving which would only be benefited by more racing. Stewards made FUNNY FEELING an Outside Draw Mobiles for future racing. Stewards also placed a warning on the Filly for racing greenly and contacting marker pegs.

 

WESTERN BELLE showed gate speed to lead the event.

 

MISS SPORTY LOMBO was caught wide leaving the 1600m before being restrained to last.
