RACE 1 – CALCUTTA/BARRIER DRAW TONIGHT PACE – 1730 metres

Pre-race blood samples were taken from STUDLEIGH STRIDE

Passing  the 200 metres HES A SLICK JOE shifted out slightly resulting in WE SALUTE YOU, which was racing to its outside, being hampered.

MAKE MINE MEMPHIS shifted out under pressure. A warning was issued.

 

RACE 2 – YIRRIBEE STUD GOLD BRACELET HEAT 1 – 2260 metres

Pre-race blood samples were taken from ZANADU

Approaching the 1000 metres, CLOSE TO THE SKY commenced to weaken resulting in MAUDIES DELIGHT being checked between the 1000 metres and 800 metres. CLOSE TO THE SKY tired significantly over the concluding stages. Driver J O’Shea was unable to offer any explanation for the performance. Trainer P Grant explained he was disappointed with the performance and would now undertake a further review of the filly prior to its next start. A post-race veterinary examination revealed no obvious abnormalities. Connections were advised that CLOSE TO THE SKY would be stood down until it can complete one official trial prior to resuming racing for what was deemed to be an unsatisfactory performance.

RACE 3 – YIRRIBEE STUD GOLD BRACELET HEAT 2 – 2260 metres

Pre-race blood samples were taken from BROOKLYNS BEST

Shortly after the start, CASUARINA BELMER hung out slightly and THE GIRLS HAVE IT hung in slightly resulting in both runners engaging sulkies for a short distance.

Post-race swab samples were taken from BROOKLYNS BEST

 

RACE 4 – YIRRIBEE STUD GOLD BRACELET HEAT 3 – 2260 metres

Pre-race blood samples were taken from MYRA DAWN

Approaching the 1400 metres, driver C McDowell had difficulty releasing the hopple shorteners on CHEZMAC and in the process of releasing the shorteners, CHEZMAC shifted out and galloped for a short distance resulting in MISS EMILY ROSE being hampered which in turn caused NO WIN NO FEED to be checked and forced three wide. MYRA DAWN which was racing three back on the inside, was checked and shifted in resulting in that runner contacting marker pegs. Driver C McDowell was advised to exercise greater care in similar circumstances. A warning was placed on CHEZMAC.

MYRA DAWN utilised the sprint lane.

RACE 5 – BATHURST GOLD CHALICE HEAT 1 – 2260 metres

Pre-race blood samples were taken from WOMENWHISKYNGOLD

KARLOO KOKODA was out of position at the start. A warning was issued.

WOLF STRIDE hung out in the score up and veered out severely after the start resulting in VALIENTE being severely checked. WOLF STRIDE took no competitive part in the remainder of the event. WOLF STRIDE will now be excluded from the mobile barrier draw. A post -race veterinary examination revealed the colt to be sore across its back. Adopting the veterinary recommendations WOLF STRIDE was stood down for 7 days, a veterinary certificate and until it can complete one official trial prior to resuming.

VALIENTE tired over the concluding stages. Trainer/driver A Grives explained that after being checked after the start VALIENTE felt unbalanced. A Grives added that she would now spell the gelding. A post-race veterinary examination revealed the gelding to be sore in the off hind leg region. A Grives was advised that VALIENTE would be stood down for 28 days, a veterinary certificate and until it can complete one official trial.

RACE 6 – BATHURST GOLD CHALICE HEAT 2 – 2260 metres

Pre-race blood samples were taken from SHOOBEE DOO

Trainer R Alchin was fined the sum of $50 under Rule 210 for failing to declare himself as the driver of THE IDEAL DANCER by the prescribed time.

Passing the 1400 metres SHOOBEE DOO shied at a vehicle parked on the infield and shifted out.

YESNOMAYBESO tired significantly. Trainer A Garaty was unable to explain the performance. A post-race veterinary examination revealed no obvious abnormalities. Connections were advised that YESNOMAYBESO would be stood down for fourteen days and until it can complete two official trial priors to resuming racing for what was deemed to be an unsatisfactory performance.

RACE 7 –– BATHURST GOLD CHALICE HEAT 3 – 2260 metres

Pre-race blood samples were taken from BETTOR JIGGLE

BARRETT was out of position at the start. Driver G Chapple was fined the sum of $50 under rule 162(1)(j) for failing to maintain his position behind the mobile barrier until the start.

Passing the 500 metres MAJOR OBAMA shifted out when not quite clear of HURRICANE ROY which had improved quickly to its outside. As a result HURRICANE ROY was taken out toward HAZELNUTS resulting in that runner being placed in restricted room and having to be steadied. Driver C McDowell (MAJOR OBAMA) was issued with a reprimand under Rule 163(1)(a)(iii) for contributing to interference.

Leaving the 300 metres, ROLLING WITH STELL was held up behind ROMERO and galloped for a short distance. Shortly after, as the field approached the 200 metres, ROLLING WITH STELL was shifted out to avoid the weakening ROMERO. ROLLLING WITH STELL then was positioned awkwardly between ROMERO and HURRICANE ROY and hung out marginally resulting in ROLLING WITH STELL having to be checked and galloping which in turn caused HURRICANE ROY to be checked and ROMERO, NEVILLE SHANNON and MAJOR OBAMA to be inconvenienced. Driver M Formosa (ROLLING WITH STELL) was issued with a reprimand under Rule 168(1)(a) for careless driving for permitting ROLLIN WITH STELL to be awkwardly positioned.

RACE 8 –– BATHURST GOLD CHALICE HEAT 4 – 2260 metres

Pre-race blood samples were taken from LORD DENZEL                     

LUCKIE overraced significantly throughout the event and leaving the 900 metres commenced to yield ground resulting in LORD DENZEL being inconvenienced and TACTICAL RESPONSE, STRADDIE and UNCLE JORD being checked. Driver A Turnbull was unable to explain the performance. A post-race veterinary examination revealed no obvious abnormalities. Connections were advised that LUCKIE would be stood down until it can complete one official trial prior to resuming racing for what was deemed to be an unsatisfactory performance.

LORD DENZEL raced roughly under pressure and tired significantly over the concluding stages. Driver D Hewitt was unable to offer an explanation other than that the gelding was inclined to overrace during the middle stages. A post-race veterinary examination revealed no obvious abnormalities. Connections were advised that LORD DENZEL would be stood down until it can complete one official trial prior to resuming racing for what was deemed to be an unsatisfactory performance.

Approaching the 200 metres MASON DELIGHT hung in slightly under pressure resulting in HIT THE TRACK being tightened for a short distance.
