General

All drivers engaged in race 1 were subject to breath analysis with all drivers returning clear samples.

The following trainers were fined $50 under rule 273(6)(b) for failing to have their gear forms accurately recorded for their respective runners:

Race 1 – B Wilkins – Rule 273(6)(b) - TICK OF THE CLOCK

Race 1 – K Morris – Rule 273(6)(b) – PETES ART MAJOR

Race 2 – R Alchin - Rule 273(6)(b) – ART I SPECIAL NZ

RACE 1 – MULTIQUIP AGREGATE PACE – 2125 metres

Pre race blood samples were taken from MY TWO EYES and PANACIAS SEAL.

PETES ART MAJOR improved three wide from the 1400 metres until obtaining the position outside the leader passing the 1200 metres.

Driver L Sutton (NO RISK NO RETURN) was found guilty of a charge under rule 156(2) for applying his whip to the gelding in more than a flicking motion and in an action which engaged his shoulder. Mr Sutton was fined $200 after considering his recent offence record in relation to the rule.

Post race swab samples were taken from ETIZ A MODEL.

RACE 2 – NSWSOA/MULTIQUIP PACE – 1720 metres

Pre race blood samples were taken from WEONA LUKE and MY WHISKEY LULLABY NZ.

Driver B McElhinney (URBAN GIRL) was fined $50 under rule 162(1)(h) for failing to come up into position by the starting point.

Driver K Morris (HOT FLUSH) was issued a reprimand under rule 163(1)(a)(iii) for causing interference in that leaving the 200 metres, she has shifted HOT FLUSH wider on the track whilst having CLOUDIN UP pacing to her outside and as a result CLOUDIN UP was inconvenienced when being taken away from the wheel of HOT FLUSH.

A post race veterinary examination of MY WHISKY LULLABY NZ failed to reveal any obvious abnormalities.

Post race swab samples were taken from WEONA LUKE.

RACE 3 – SKY RACING ACTIVE PACE - 1720 metres

Pre race blood samples were taken from THANKS JACK and BACKINTHEGAME.

CODY SHANNON raced three wide in the early stages until obtaining the position outside the leader at the 1200 metres.

SENORA RAPIDO NZ raced four and three wide in the early stages until obtaining the lead at the 1000 metres.

SPEEDY DOMINIC improved three wide from the 750 metres to race without cover for the remainder of the event.

MAHALA PRINCE improved three wide from the 750 metres to race without cover for the remainder of the event.

Driver N Xuereb (MAHALA PRINCE) was cautioned in relation to his whip use in the early stages of the home straight.

Post race swab samples were taken from SENORA RAPIDO NZ.

RACE 4 – ALEX SMITH PACE - 1720 metres

Pre race blood samples were taken from FORTYEIGHTHENSON and MISTER HAYWOOD.

HOODED ANGEL hung in approaching the first turn and contacted marker pegs for a short distance.

I AM SERENGETI NZ worked forward to obtain the lead passing the 1400 metres.

OVERLAP NZ raced three wide in the early stages until obtaining the position outside the leader at the 1200 metres.

I AM SERENGETI NZ shifted out under pressure in the early stages of the home straight which resulted in FORTYEIGHTHENSON obtaining a run to the inside.

Post race swab samples were taken from FORTYEIGHTHENSON.

RACE 5 – TAB ODDS & EVENS PACE - 2125 metres

Pre race blood samples were taken from EBIL STAR and BITA BANTA NZ.

Passing the 1850 metres, EBIL STAR commenced to hang out, contact its own sulky and race roughly when being restrained by driver G McElhinney which resulted in KIAMASROSIE being checked and galloping when being steadied off the back of EBIL STAR. MILWAUKEE STRYDER, BLACK EIGHT and DEVILSTIX were all hampered to varying degrees by the galloping KIAMASROSIE. EBIL STAR then continued to race erratically throughout the event before weakening from the 650 metres to be beaten 73 metres and finished in 6th position. In view of the geldings racing manners and overall performance, the gelding was stood down until it completes one requalifying trial. A post race veterinarian examination failed to reveal any obvious abnormalities.

Passing the 1350 metres, MILWAUKEE STRYDER became unbalanced and galloped. HEENZO was shifted three wide to improve around the galloping runner until obtaining a position in the running line at the 1200 metres. In view of the gelding’s recent record, MILWAUKEE STRYDER was stood down until it completes one requalifying trial.

BITA BANTA NZ worked forward to obtain the lead passing the 1800 metres.

Post race swab samples were taken from BITA BANTA NZ.

RACE 6 – TAB APP PACE - 2125 metres

Pre race blood samples were taken from GLENCOE REIGN and KARAOKE ROCK.

AMAZING TREV was out of position at the start. In view of the gelding’s recent record, a warning was issued.

MACH ANGELO raced three wide in the early stages until obtaining the position outside the leader at the 1700 metres.

Passing the 400 metres, JACOBS THUNDER (J Douglass) shifted down the track when trailing GLENCOE REIGN at which point HUMMING TOP (R Adams) improved forward despite the efforts of driver R Adams and was contacted by JACOBS THUNDER when that runner straightened entering the turn. As a result HUMMING TOP paced roughly for a short distance. As no driver was found to be careless, the incident was noted.

Post race swab samples were taken from MACH ANGELO.

RACE 7 – NSWSOA LADYSHIP PACE - 1720 metres

Pre race blood samples were taken from SHEISWATCHING and DELIGHTFUL TARA.

Trainer K Morris (PLAIN BABY) was fined $100 under rule 210 for failing to declare herself as the driver of PLAIN BABY by the prescribed time.

Driver R Alchin (SHEISWATCHING) was found guilty of a charge under rule 168(1)(a) for careless driving in that approaching the 1200 metres, he has allowed SHEISWATCHING to  contact the sulky wheel of SALS LUCK resulting in SHEISWATCHING being checked and galloping and DELIGHTFUL TARA being checked when avoiding the galloping runner. Driver R Alchin had his licence to drive in races suspended for a period of 7 days to commence midnight the 12th of September 2019. In assessing penalty Stewards considered Mr Alchin’s plea, record in relation to the rule and the circumstances’ of the incident.

DELIGHTFUL TARA improved three wide from the 1200 metres until obtaining the position outside the leader passing the 1000 metres.

Driver K Morris (PLAIN BABY) pleaded guilty to a charge under rule 163(1)(a)(iii) for causing interference in that approaching the 200 metres, she has shifted PLAIN BABY wider on the track resulting in SHEISWATCHING (R Alchin), which was racing to her outside, being checked and taken up the track, making contact to the wheel of SALS LUCK and driver J Bates being momentarily unseated in his sulky. Driver K Morris had her licence to drive in races suspended for a period of 7 days to commence midnight the 20th of September 2019. In assessing penalty Stewards considered Mrs Morris’s plea and record in relation to this rule.

Post race swab samples were taken from DELIGHTFUL TARA.

RACE 8 – KEVIN & KAY SEYMOUR EVOLUTION SERIES HEAT - 1720 metres

Pre race blood samples were taken from ICE PICK ANGIE and ITZ ALL ABOUT ME.

ITZ ALL ABOUT ME over raced in the early stages and improved forward to the lead at the 1400 metres.

Driver G Watts (CEE FOR COLIN) pleaded guilty to a charge under rule 156(3) for unapproved whip use in that in the home straight on the final occasion he has applied the whip to the gelding continuously and without allowing CEE FOR COLIN time to respond. Mr Watts was fined $200 after considering his recent offence record.

Post race swab samples were taken from SIGHT TO SEE.
