GENERAL

Due to the inclement weather, the mobile barrier was tested at 4.30pm and passed safe for racing.

All drivers engaged in Race 3 were subject to breath testing and returned negative results.

All winners were sent to be swabbed.

RACE 1 – PENRITH WEDNESDAY MARKETS PACE – 1720 metres

Pre-race blood samples were taken from LIP READER

Shortly after the start, HAPPYEVER LAUGHTER hung out slightly and engaged the near side of ROCK THE PARTY which shift in marginally. Subsequently both sulkies remained locked for a considerable distance resulting in LIP READER being hampered, MILWAUKEE VOLO being checked and BETTER BRAGGER being severely checked. Due to the marginal movements from both runners no action was taken against either horse or driver.

Post-race swab samples were taken from BITA BANTA NZ

RACE 2 – PROST GERMAN NIGHT AT THE PACEWAY – 2125 metres

Pre-race blood samples were taken from DON KEE

The all clear was delayed in order to afford Stewards an opportunity to review the inside run obtained by 4th placed SPORT REPORT near the 400 metres. It was established that leaving the 500 metres the leader, PLAIN BABY hung out under pressure which opened  a full run to its inside. SPORT REPORT then improved into the run and near the 400 metres, ALL ABOUT ART, which had improved quickly to the outside of PLAIN BABY hung in despite the efforts of its driver. Subsequently, ALL ABOUT ART shifted in and took PLAIN BABY in, which caused SPORT REPORT to be tightened and contact two marker pegs. Stewards were satisfied that SPORT REPORT was entitled to take the run and, contacted marker pegs through no fault of its own or its driver. The all clear was then given on the judge’s numbers of 5-6-3-7.

At a subsequent inquiry a warning was placed on ALL ABOUT ART for hanging in.

DON KEE was slow to begin.

Post-race swab samples were taken from SPEEDY DOMINIC

RACE 3 – OLD MACDONALDS CHILDCARE PACE – 2125 metres

Pre-race blood samples were taken from I AM SERENGETTI NZ

RACE 6 – HRNSW REWARDS SERIES HEAT 1 – 1720 metres

Pre-race blood samples were taken from TERROROAN

The all clear was delayed to afford Stewards an opportunity to review the start and to review the films regarding the judges placings due to the photo finish system failing. It was established that TERRAROAN was facing forward and pacing slowly toward the mobile barrier when the mobile barrier commenced to move. Although TERROROAN was out of position at the start, the gelding was afforded every opportunity by the starter to be in its correct position.  Furthermore, stewards were satisfied with the judge’s numbers of 3-4-5-7. The all clear was then given.

Driver A Simiana was fined the sum of $50 under Rule 162(1)(h) for failing to make sufficient effort to have TERROROAN in position at the start. TERROROAN was also continued out of the mobile barrier draw.

SMOKING ZAK galloped at the start resulting in TERROROAN being inconvenienced after the stat. A warning was placed on SMOKING ZAK.

Pre-race blood samples were taken from SPORTS MAGIC

MADRE SUPREMO which was having its first race start since 31st August 2018 underwent a pre and post-race veterinary examination as per HRNSW animal welfare policy. No abnormalities were detected.

Due to the unavailability of the photo finish, the all clear was delayed to afford Stewards an opportunity to confirm the judge’s placings. The all clear was then given on the judge’s numbers of 2-5-6-7.

SHOOBEES MAGIC had tendency to race roughly throughout the event.

Leaving the 600 metres SPORTS MAGIC commenced to weaken and near the 500 metres, SURFER BOY which was trailing was hampered and contacted it’s off side sulky wheel. Subsequently, SPORTS MAGIC sustained a flat tyre. SPORTS MAGIC gave significant ground over the concluding stages and failed to finish. A post-race veterinary examination of SPORTS MAGIC revealed no obvious abnormalities. Trainer/driver M Muscat was unable to explain the performance. He was advised that SPORTS MAGIC must complete one satisfactory official trial prior to its next start.
