When questioned regarding this move, Driver B Matthews stated with the filly over-racing as she was, he was concerned that she may choke down and elected to shift out to allow her to stride forward to prevent that from happening. He added that they were unable to muster enough speed to cross SAVANNAHS BOY to get the position outside the leader so he restrained then to regain his position back in the running line.
