RACE 1 – TAB ODDS & EVENS PACE – 2030 metres

JUSLIKEROYALTY – Pre race blood sample.

TAKE IN THE GOLD NZ – Was sent to be swabbed.

 

RACE 2 – SKY SPORTS RADIO PACE – 2030 metres

JONG ANG – Pre race blood sample. Hung out during the latter stages of the score-up, then raced very roughly after the start. Given it was the geldings first race start, it will now be excluded from the mobile barrier draw.

LA LA LAMOUR – Hampered after the start.

GRINNING MISTRESS – Gave ground over the final 500m.

TEESMEE – Locked wheels at the 300m.

CRIME BOSS – At the 300m, the gelding hung in and locked wheels with CRIME BOSS for a short distance.

BOMB SUIT NZ – Was sent to be swabbed.

 

RACE 3 – SKY RACING ACTIVE PACE – 2030 metres

LEMBONGAN LYF – Gave ground from the 500m and finished. Connections could offer no explanation for the poor performance. The connections were advised that the gelding is required to requalify before racing again.

SWEET CREATION – After being excluded from the mobile barrier draw after acceptances (Newcastle 15.2.2020), the mare was redrawn to start from barrier 10. The mare was sent to be swabbed.

ATTAHUA ACE – Galloped for a short distance early in the score up. Given its record a warning was issued. Hampered slightly at the 300m. 

MERSADIES – Pre race blood sample. Galloped at the 300m. Given its record a warning was issued.

 

RACE 4 – TAB.COM.AU PACE – 1609 metres

ONAHI DELIGHT – Was sent to be swabbed.

ROCKNROLL MONDO – Pre race blood sample.

HIGHLAND MAJOR – Galloped shortly after the start and took no competitive part thereafter. Given its record a warning was issued.

HIGHMORALGROUND – Commenced to weaken from the 600m and finished distanced. Connections advised that the mare may be spelled. Connections were advised that the mare is required to requalify before racing again.  

DEAL BREAKER – Was fractious upon leaving the marshalling circle. The gelding will continue to be excluded from the mobile barrier draw.   

 

RACE 5 – HUSQVARNA PACE – 2030 metres

MOONLIGHT CRUISER – A pre-race veterinary examination was conducted. The gelding was passed fit to start.  

LONGNWINDINGROAD – Pre race blood sample. The gelding was sent to be swabbed.

 

RACE 6 – HUNTER OUTDOOR EQUIPMENT PACE – 1609 metres

WESTERN HEIR – Driver J Osborn was cautioned in relation to his whip use during the early stages of the home straight. The gelding was sent to be swabbed.

HOT FLUSH NZ – Hung in rounding the final turn.

ITS ALLABOUT ALICE – Pre race blood sample.

 

RACE 7 – NEWCASTLE HERALD PACE – 2030 metres

REGAL ROCK NZ – Was sent to be swabbed.

MARTINSON – Pre race blood sample.

ROBYNS MAJOR NZ Driver R Morris was questioned in relation to the filly’s performance. He explained that the filly arrived from New Zealand only eight weeks ago and has not fully acclimatised. He said that leading up this race the filly sweated in its race day stalls due to the high humidity. He said that at no stage during the event did ROBYNS MAJOR travel well. He added that the stable intends to immediately spell the filly. He was advised that ROBYNS MAJOR will now be stood down for 28 days and is required to requalify before racing again.
