RACE 1 – TROTS TV PACE - 1609 metres
LILYMADIMAC – Sent to be swabbed.
YESNOMAYBESO – Raced fiercely during the middle stages.
HIGHVIEW FREDDY – Pre-race blood test.
CAESAREAL – Raced wide for the majority of the event and weakened from the 550m and finished distanced. Driver J Coney explained that she was instructed by trainer S Kilroy to drive the gelding forward at the start and to obtain a forward position. S Kilroy confirmed the instructions. She said that rounding the first turn she was caught racing wide when LILYMADIMAC was able to lead with YESNOMAYBESO racing to its outside. She said she elected to continue to press forward in an endeavour to obtain the position outside of the leader. She said that at the 1100m it appeared to her that she was now unlikely to obtain the desired position. J Coney explained that she then elected to remain racing wide and continue to drive her gelding forward until it gave ground from the 550m rather than restrain to the rear of the field at that point of the event. A post-race veterinary examination failed to reveal any significant obvious abnormalities. Stewards were of the opinion that J Coney had erred in her decision at the 1100m to continue to press forward given the tempo for the class of the event and that the position outside of the leader was highly unlikely, however Stewards stopped short of issuing any charges given her inexperience, the racing manners of CAESAREAL which is known to be difficult to restrain and the likely outcome had she restrained at the 1100m.
HOODED ANGEL – Driver B Pringle pleaded guilty to a charge under Rule 156(3) in that from approximately the 150m until the 50m he applied the whip continuously to the gelding. When considering penalty Stewards took into account his recent record under the whip rule bracket. B Pringle was fined $400.
RACE 2 – SKY RACING ACTIVE PACE - 1609 metres
BUCKLEDOWN BUDDY – Was steadied and raced roughly at the 120m when it raced onto the rear of FINAL RIVER.
MAMMALS RIDDLE – Was checked at the 500m when ALTA DREAM LOVER was giving ground.
FINAL RIVER – Pre-race blood test.
VICTORY VALLEY – Locked wheels with ALTA DREAM LOVER at the 600m.
ALTA DREAM LOVER – Hung in severely rounding the first turn. Hung in severely again from the 850m until eventually locking wheels with VICTORY VALLEY At the 600m. A post-race veterinary examination failed to reveal any significant obvious abnormalities. Trainer D Morris advised that he may make a gear change to rectify the issue. Connections were advised that the mare is required to requalify before racing again.
MAJOR BOB – Sent to be swabbed.
RACE 3 – TAB LONG MAY WE PLAY PACE - 1609 metres
SHEZABONNYGEM – Pre-race blood test.
FEELS LIKE A WINNER – Stewards delayed the all clear to view a replay of the inside run taken by FEELS LIKE A WINNER in the run to the finish. It was established that FEELS LIKE A WINNER contacted a number of marker pegs when improving to the inside of OUR MEGASTAR however Stewards were satisfied that it did not race to the inside of the marker pegs per Rule 66(e) therefore the all clear was given. Sent to be swabbed.
A GIFT FROM HEAVEN – Locked wheels momentarily with OUR MEGASTAR immediately prior to the finishing line.
OUR MEGASTAR - Locked wheels momentarily with A GIFT FROM HEAVEN immediately prior to the finishing line.
NASHOLI – raced roughly after the start. Given the geldings record, a warning was issued.
RACE 4 – A.V.E TECHNOLOGIES PACE- 2030 metres
ROCKNLACHLAN – Driver L Green was reprimanded under Rule 163(1)(a)(iii) in that rounding the first turn, he allowed his gelding to shift in when not quite clear of OH I AM THE ONE resulting in that gelding obliging to be steadied and raced roughly momentarily. Further, L Green was fined $50 under Rule 170(1)(b) in that at the 200m he removed the deafeners with his left foot in a downward motion from the stirrup.
COLIN MATTGREGOR – Locked wheels with SHEEZA MALTEEZA leaving the 400m.
SHEEZA MALTEEZA – Pre-race blood test. Locked wheels with COLIN MATTGREGOR leaving the 400m.

RACE 5 – GARRARDS HORSE & HOUND PACE - 2030 metres
SQUIRE – Pre-race blood test. Raced fiercely for the majority of the event.
NUI TOC TIEN – A pre and post-race veterinary examination was conducted as the gelding has not competed in excess of 12 months. No abnormalities were detected on either exam. The gelding commenced to weaken from the 500m and finished distanced. Given the mile rate (1:54.4) for the 2030m distance, a warning was issued.
MISTER BRAZIL – Sent to be swabbed.
RACE 6 – NEWCASTLE TRANSPORT SPECIALISTS PACE - 1609 metres

DENNINGTON HEIGHTS – Was caught racing outside of the leader, commenced to weaken from the 550m and finished distanced. Driver G Chapple explained that the gelding is not overly strong and is better when able to race on the pegs, however he was unable to do so in this event when SHINING FROST crossed him for the lead. His comments were noted however a warning was issued for its performance given the rapidly run event for the class.
