RACE 1 – TAB ODDS & EVENS PACE – 1720 metres

 

GABBYS IDEAL – Post-race sample collected.

BRADNESS ABUELA – Caught racing three wide in the early stages until being restrained to a position in the running line at the 1400 metres.

WOODLANDS WONDER – Pre-race blood sample collected.  Caught racing three wide in the early and middle stages until finding the position outside the leader at the 1200 metres.  Driver S Turnbull was cautioned on his whip use over the final 100 metres.

MILLIE THE FILLIE – At the request of connections the filly will be placed back in the mobile barrier draw in future starts.

RACE 2 – WESTERN PLAINS GRANITE PACE – 1720 metres

 

WHISPER HER NAME – Pre-race blood sample collected.  Tired over the final 500 metres to be beaten 64 metres. Driver M Hutchings could offer no reasonable explanation for the poor performance. A warning was issued

ROCKNROLL GIRL – Post-race sample collected.

MY FLYING SPUR – Caught racing three wide from the start until obtaining the position outside the leader at the 1400 metres.

JOANANDI – Leaving the 400 metres has shifted down the track when not clear of MONSIEUR DARCY and as a result that runner has contacted his sulky and been checked and broke.  At a subsequent inquiry driver J Reynolds pleaded guilty to a charge under Rule 163(1)(a)(iii) for causing interference ,when leaving the 400 metres has allowed his runner to shift down the track when not clear of MONSIEUR DARCY and as a result that runner has contacted his sulky and been checked and broke.  Considering J Reynolds guilty plea and his record in regards to this Rule, Mr Reynolds licence to drive in races was suspended for a period of 11 days to commence midnight 12th July 2020.

MONSIEUR DARCY – Checked when trailing WHISPER HER NAME from the 550 metres until clearing that runner at the 450 metres.  Checked and broke leaving the 400 metres when JOANANDI shifted down the track.

SHEZ ON TARGET – Momentarily eased approaching the 200 metres when THIRSTY SPORTSMAN was shifting down the track.  At the request of connections the mare will be re-included in the mobile barrier draw in future starts.

 

RACE 3 – ORANA SCRAP METAL MAIDEN PACE – 2120 metres

 

RIVERSIDE GIFT – When negotiating the first turn became unbalanced and broke stride.  As a result WATTOS MATE who was trailing contacted the sulky flattening that tyre.  THEMIDNIGHTRAMBLER was also checked. RIVERSIDE GIFT will be stood down for one requalifying trial.

TO THE LOOKOUT – Pre-race blood sample collected. 

THEMIDNIGHTRAMBLER – Had to be checked and shifted wider at the 1900 metres to avoid RIVERSIDE GIFT who was galloping.

RINTIN – Driver D Hewitt was questioned on his tactics in relation to the gelding racing three wide for the final 1400 metres.  D Hewitt stated that the pace had steadied in the early stages and as his runner is one paced he elected to work forward.  D Hewitt further stated as the gelding  was unable to muster enough pace to obtain the position outside the leader when the pace in the race quickened and although tiring over the final 400 metres Mr Hewitt was reasonably happy with the gelding’s performance.  Mr Hewitt’s comments were noted.

TWO FIVE EIGHT – Held up for clear racing room until the final 100 metres.

DEMI MAHONEY – Held up for clear racing room in the run to the finish and was not fully tested.

WATTOS MATE – Examined by the club’s veterinarian pre-race as the gelding had not raced for over 12 months.  Contacted the sulky of RIVERSIDE GIFT at the 1900 metres and was checked.  Post-race sample collected.

KARINYA JUDE – Held up for clear racing room until the final 75 metres.

 

RACE 4 – SHANKS FAMILY PACE – 1720 metres

 

MORNINIG MAJOR – Surrendered the lead at the 1200 metres to TOPHUT JOHNY.

VALENTEENO – Approaching the 200 metres had a tendency to hang out and contacted the sulky of GETALOADATHISBRO.  A warning was issued.  Held up for clear racing room in the run to the finish and was not fully tested.

BURRABADINE DREAM – Held up in the early stages of the home straight on the final occasion until the 100 metres.

TOPHUT JOHNY – Raced three wide from the start until obtaining the position outside the leader at the 1500 metres ,then worked forward to the lead at the 1200 metres.

GETALOADATHISBRO – Worked forward three wide from the start until obtaining the position outside the leader at the 1200 metres.  Had a tendency to over race over the final 1000 metres.  Sulky contacted by VALENTEENO at the 200 metres.

PALE FACE JO – Pre-race blood sample collected. 

KARAOKE ROCK – Post-race sample collected.

SHES THE OTHER ONE – Driver P Bonham was questioned in relation to the mare racing three wide for the entire race.  P Bonham stated it was his intention to work forward from the second row draw in an attempt to find a position in the running line if not the position outside the leader. When unable to find a position in the running line elected to continue forward but when challenging for the position outside the leader GETALOADATHISBRO began to over race at the 1000 metres .Mr Bonham elected to ease slightly but was of the opinion at that stage of the race it would be detrimental to the mares chances to restrain to the tail of the field. Mr Bonham`s comments were noted but was advised of his obligations to drive within the capabilities of his mount.

 

RACE 5 – LEW FAMILY PACE – 2120 metres

 

WOMENWHISKYNGOLD – Pre-race blood sample collected.  Tired from the 800 metres to be beaten 104 metres.  A post-race veterinary examination failed to reveal any abnormalities.  Driver A Hedged stated when the gelding was unable to lead she elected to shift into the running line at the 1600 metres in an attempt to work forward to the lead but was unable to do so. A Hedges was very disappointed in the overall performance of the gelding.  Trainer A Bellach could offer no reasonable explanation for the poor performance and advised Stewards the gelding would be going for a spell and as such was stood down for a period of 28 days and will have to requalify on one occasion prior to racing.

ROCK HAND – Surrendered the lead at the 1800 metres to SHADOW ECLIPSE.  Tired over the final 600 metres to be beaten 100 metres.  The mare will be stood down for one requalifying trial.

SHADOW ECLIPSE – Worked forward to the lead at the 1800 metres.  Driver N Turnbull was questioned on the overall performance of the gelding. N Turnbull was of the opinion the gelding was down in grade in today’s event. It was his intention race in a forward position, after doing some work to find the lead, the gelding began to over-race when WOMENWHISKYNGOLD challenged for the lead. Mr Turnbull further stated he was reluctant to restrain the gelding to much as it has choked down previously. His comments were noted.

IM ALRITE – Had a tendency to hang out in the latter stages of the score up.

BEST BEAU – Tired from the 800 metres to be beaten 138 metres.  A post-race veterinary examination failed to reveal any abnormalities.  Driver J Beeby could offer no reasonable explanation for the poor performance.  The gelding will be stood down for one requalifying trial.

CLOUDIN UP – Pre-race blood sample collected.  Post-race sample collected.

 

RACE 6 – BLUB DUBBO PACE – 2120 metres

 

LOVIN EVERYDAY – Driver J Sutton was questioned on the overall performance of the mare as she tired over the final 500 metres to be beaten some distance.  J Sutton could not offer any reasonable explanation for the poor performance.  A post-race veterinary examination failed to reveal any abnormalities.  Mr Sutton stated that it was the intention of the stable to spell the mare and as such will be stood down for 28 days.

WHISKIESONTHEBEACH – Driver G Rue was cautioned in relation to his whip use in the home straight on the final occasion.

TULHURST TERROR – Pre-race blood sample collected. 

PRINCE PARKER – Raced three wide early with a trail to the 1700 metres then continued to work forward in an attempt to obtain the position outside the leader when unable to do so was restrained to the tail of the field at the 750 metres.  Driver S Turnbull was questioned in regards to his tactics. S Turnbull stated he attempted to work forward from the start to race in a forward position. S Turnbull further added after racing with a trail early continued to work forward ,when LOVIN EVERYDAY shifted out of this marker line to fill the position outside the leader at the 1400 metres and was unable to get that position elected to restrain at the 1100 metres to the tail of the field. Mr Turnbulls comments were noted.

REMEMBER BUBBLES – Caught racing three wide early until being restrained to the tail of the field at the 1700 metres.

RACE 7 – SKY RACING ACTIVE PACE – 1720 metres

General

Due to heavy rain following race 6 the mobile was tested and deemed safe to continue with the meeting.

The siren was activated to stop the race shortly after the start when BIG BILL contacted the sulky of COMEDY CASINO and fell. All horses were examined by the club veterinarian and passed fit to start with the exception of BIG BILL who was a late scratching at 3.44pm

 

CASINO COMEDY – Galloped out on the first occasion and as a result BIG BILL who was trailing contacted the sulky and fell and the race was stopped.  The mare was issued with a warning.  Examined by the veterinarian prior to the race being re-run and passed fit to start.

YARRAMAN BELLA – Examined by the veterinarian prior to the race being re-run and passed fit to start. 

MACH LE MORE – Examined by the veterinarian prior to the race being re-run and passed fit to start. 

BID FOR RED – Pre-race blood sample collected.  Examined by the veterinarian prior to the race being re-run and passed fit to start.  Raced three wide early and worked forward until obtaining the position outside the leader at the 1300 metres.

MYRA DAWN – Examined by the veterinarian prior to the race being re-run and passed fit to start. 

KANENA PROVLIMA – Examined by the veterinarian prior to the race being re-run and passed fit to start.  Post-race sample collected.

BIG BILL – Shortly after the start contacted the sulky of CASINO COMEDY who had broke stride and as a result fell. following a examination by the on course vet , the gelding was declared a late scratching at 3.44pm.  A post-race examination revealed the gelding to have suffered some superficial lacerations to both front knees and off side shoulder.  Connections were advised the gelding would be stood down for a period of 10 days and stood down for a veterinary certificate to be submitted prior to racing. Driver J Turnbull was examined by the on course paramedics and reported no significant injuries except for some pain in his right hand.

KARINYA ROCCO – Examined by the veterinarian prior to the race being re-run and passed fit to start.  Out of position at the start on the second occasion.  Driver E Turnbull was questioned on the overall performance of the gelding.  E Turnbull stated after being keen in the early stages of the score up he then dropped the bit and never travelled at all throughout the race.  A post-race veterinary examination failed to reveal any abnormalities.  Trainer G Eyre advised the gelding would be spelled and as such will be stood down for a period of 28 day and will have to requalify on one occasion prior to resuming racing.

CHLOES CLOUD – Examined by the veterinarian prior to the race being re-run and passed fit to start.  Tired over the final 400 metres to be beaten 63 metres.  Trainer/driver N
Turnbull could offer no reasonable explanation for the poor performance.  The mare will be stood down for one requalifying trial.

 

RACE 8 – WEST DUBBO IGA PCE – 2120 metres

 

ZIGGY ROCKS – Pre-race blood sample collected.  Caught racing three wide in the early stages until obtaining the position outside the leader at the 1800 metres.

 ROCKN AND ROLLN – Raced three wide with a trail until the 1800 metres and then continue to work forward to the position outside the leader at the 1600 metres.  Post-race sample collected.

 

SUPPLEMENTARY REPORT – YOUNG RACE 1, 17TH MARCH 2020

 

Stewards today concluded an inquiry from the above race into an incident leaving the 500 metres where UROC N WARRIOR NZ was checked and broke gait. At today’s inquiry, Driver G Rue pleaded guilty to a charge under Rule 163(1)(a)(iii) for causing interference, in that leaving the 500 metres, he shifted SCARAMUCCI out when not clear of UROC N WARRIOR NZ which was checked and broke gait. In assessing penalty, Stewards took into account G Rue’s guilty plea, his good driving record with regards to this rule and the particular circumstances of the incident. Driver G Rue had his license to drive in races suspended for a period of 7 days to commence at midnight the 15th of July.
