She explained that MODERN METROPOLIS had originally applied some pressure out of the gate followed by AQUA CRUISER when the gelding improved three wide to the position outside the leader at around the 1350 metres and further from I AM SERENGETI NZ when the gelding improved to the outside of her drive at or around the 1200 metres.  Ms Panella explained that at all stages WHATTA CONK seemed to be travelling well within itself and considering the instructions that had been afforded to her by trainer G Fuller to lead the event, she felt that her gelding would be able to sustain its run.  Ms Panella explained that the third challenge from I AM SERENGETI NZ may have been a little too much for her gelding and had contributed to the gelding’s performance over the concluding stages.  Ms Panella further explained that in her opinion WHATTA CONK’S best runs has been when able to lead and considering the run afforded in tonight’s event, she was not disappointed in the gelding’s performance. Trainer G Fuller confirmed Ms Panella’s comments.

MUMS PET ROCK – Stewards delayed the all clear of this event to review the run to the finish in relation to MUMS PET ROCK finishing fourth past the post appearing to race inside the line of a marker peg passing the 150 metres when improving to the inside of HAWKE EYE which was weakening.  Upon review of the patrol footage Stewards were satisfied that although MUMS PET ROCK had raced inside the line of one marker peg there had been sufficient room for MUMS PET ROCK to proceed up the inside of HAWKE EYE however when directed down the track by driver L Cain MUMS PET ROCK has over reacted and as a result raced inside the line of one marker peg before being bought back onto the true racing surface.  In view of the circumstances the all clear was given on 1, 8, 3 and 7.  In view of the circumstances no direct action was taken.
