RACE 1 – ALLIED EXPRESS SPECIALISED LOGISTICS PACE – 1609 metres

FEAR CRUISIN NZ – Jumped a shadow during the latter stages of the score up, as a result galloped and was out of position at the start.  In view of the horse’s recent record a warning was issued.

IM BRUCE ALMIGHTY – Became unbalanced and galloped approaching the winning post on the first occasion.  In view of the gelding’s recent record a warning was issued.

STORMY RAIDER – Became unbalanced and galloped during the early stages of the score up and as a result was out of position at the start and took no competitive part in the event.  In view of the gelding’s recent record, STORMY RAIDER will now be excluded from the mobile barrier draw.

MYRA DAWN – Had its off side sulky wheel contacted approaching the first turn when MY ULTIMATE STAR was shifted down the track before being clear of the mare’s wheel. 

AIR TIME – Pre-race blood sample.  Hampered when being steadied wider around the galloping IM BRUCE ALMIGHTY approaching the 1200 metres.  Post-race swab sample. 

MY ULTIMATE STAR – Driver J Alchin pleaded guilty to a charge under Rule 168(1)(a) for careless driving in that approaching the first turn he has shifted MY ULTIMATE STAR down the track before being clear of the wheel of MYRA DAWN resulting contact to the wheel of MYRA DAWN and MY ULTIMATE STAR being checked and galloping.  Driver J Alchin had his licence to drive in races suspended for seven days to commence midnight 9 January 2021.  In assessing penalty Stewards considered driver J Alchin’s guilty plea, record in relation to this Rule and also the degree of carelessness shown.

IM FEELING FIREY – Unable to secure clear running in the latter stages of the home straight.  Driver J Douglass pleaded guilty to a charged under Rule 156(2)(a) in that in the home straight on the final occasion he has applied his whip to the gelding in more than a wrist only flicking motion.  Driver J Douglass was fined $200 after considering his recent record in relation to this Rule.

SNOOP STRIDE – A pre and post-race veterinary examination was conducted due to the gelding having competed in excess of 200 race starts.  No obvious abnormalities were detected on either examination.  Checked approaching the 1300 metres when being steadied off the back of the galloping MY ULTIMATE STAR.

ARDEN MESSI NZ – Pre-race blood sample.  Raced three wide in the early stages before working forward to obtain the position outside the leader passing the 1200 metres.

RACE 2 – WOODLANDS STUD PACE – 2300 metres

BENALONG VALLEY – Pre-race blood sample. 

MYCHACHINGCHACHING NZ – Pre-race blood sample. 

CONTROVERSIAL NZ - A pre and post-race veterinary examination was conducted for having competed in excess of 200 race starts.  No obvious abnormalities were detected on either examination. 

PITCH PERFECT NZ – Worked forward to obtain the lead passing the 1950 metres.  Post-race swab sample.

ELROY JETSON - A pre and post-race veterinary examination was conducted due to the gelding having competed in excess of 200 race starts.  No obvious abnormalities were detected on either examination. 

UNDER WORKED NZ – Raced keenly during the early stages whilst being restrained and as a result was caught racing three wide before working forward to obtain the position outside the leader passing the 1850 metres.  The gelding then continued to race keenly whilst positioned outside the leader.  The gelding commenced to give ground over the final 500 metres to be beaten 59 metres and finished in last position.  Driver J McCarthy explained that it was uncharacteristic of the gelding and explained the racing manners of UNDER WORKED NZ was the main reason for the disappointing performance in tonight’s event.  In view of the racing manners and inconsistent performance of UNDER WORKED NZ the gelding was stood down until it completes one requalifying trial.  A post-race veterinary examination failed to reveal any obvious abnormalities.

RACE 3 – AGNES BANKS EQUINE CLINIC PACE (GROUP 3) – 1609 meters

KANENA PROVLIMA – Pre-race blood sample. 

JAY OK – Pre-race blood sample. 

BURNHAM BOY NZ – Worked forward to obtain the lead passing the 1200 metres.

THE CROUPIER NZ – Post-race swab sample.

EXPENSIVE EGO – Caught racing three wide in the early stages until working forward to obtain the position outside the leader passing the 1000 metres.

RACE 4 – HYLAND SPORTSWEAR PACE – 1609 metres

OUR MEGASTAR NZ – Pre-race blood sample. 

MOREAU DRIVE – Pre-race blood sample.  Post-race swab sample.

RACE 5 – HAPPY BIRTHDAY SACHA MOTT PACE – 2300 metres

PUMP THE BRAKES – Had difficulty obtaining clear running in the middle stages of the home straight and was not fully tested.

DOUBLE ENCOUNTER – Pre-race blood sample.

NOSTRA VILLA – Pre-race blood sample.

KING OF SWING – Worked forward to obtain the lead passing the 1900 metres.  Post-race swab sample.

RACE 6 – GARRARDS HORSE AND HOUND PACE – 1609 metres

TUAPEKA GLORY NZ – Post-race swab sample.

TEAM OF STARZZZ – Pre-race blood sample. 

MOHS EM DOWN NZ – Pre-race blood sample. 

DEANNE PANYA NZ – Improved three wide from the 1100 metres until obtaining the position outside the leader approaching the 950 metres.

RACE 7 – WOODSTOCK TROTTERS MOBILE – 1609 metres

HELLBOUND – Slow to begin.

REVY JAY – Pre-race blood sample.  Became unbalanced and galloped during the middle stages of the score up and as a result was out of position at the start taking no competitive part in the event.  In view of the mare’s recent record a warning was issued.

KOWHAI MONARCH NZ – Driver J Grimson pleaded guilty to a charge under Rule 156(7) in that on four occasions between the 600 and 350 metres he has applied his whip outside the confines of his sulky in the vicinity of his nearside sulky wheel.  Driver J Grimson was fined $200 after considering his recent offence record.

DROP THE HAMMER – Post-race swab sample.

LORD LOHKI – Pre-race blood sample.  Re-included into the mobile barrier draw.
