RACE 1 – TAB LONG MAY WE PLAY PACE – 1720 metres

SCOTTIE MACH – Pre-race blood sample.  Over raced throughout the event.

CALL ME MATTY – Slow to begin.

SPEED OF SOUND – Pre-race blood sample.  Became unbalanced and galloped during the score up.  In view of the filly’s recent record a warning was issued.  The filly then over raced throughout the event before commencing to weaken from the 500 metres to be beaten 52 metres and finished in last position.  Driver M Towers explained that the filly did not appear to be herself tonight when racing keenly throughout the event and explained that she had pulled hard during the preliminary.  In view of the filly’s disappointing performance the filly was issued a warning.  A post-race veterinary examination failed to reveal any obvious abnormalities.

CLASSIC GRANGE – Post-race swab sample.

SHEZSAVVY – Driver P Shipley pleaded guilty to a charge under Rule 156(2)(a) in that shortly after entering the home straight on the final occasion he has crossed his reins and applied his whip with a free hand on one occasion.  Driver P Shipley was fined $200 after considering his recent offence record.

RACE 2 – PENRITH WEDNESDAY MARKETS PACE – 1720 metres

BLAZIN BEAUTY – Worked forward to obtain the lead passing the 1400 metres.  Post-race swab sample.

CARIBBEAN SUMMER – Caught racing three wide during the early stages until being restrained to the tail of the field approaching the 1350 metres.

BANDSIX – Pre-race blood sample.

DONT CHANGE – Over raced throughout the event.  Approaching the 1400 metres was steadied off the back of KELLY LOUISE when improving onto the back of that runner’s sulky momentarily.  Unable to secure clear running in the home straight on the final occasion and was not fully tested.

COCOFOLLOWNOONE – Pre-race blood sample.  Hampered approaching the 1400 metres when being steadied off the back of DONT CHANGE which had improved onto the back of KELLY LOUISE when DONT CHANGE was racing keenly at that point.

RACE 3 – SKY RACING ACTIVE PACE – 2125 metres

FRANKIES TOOTH – Pre-race blood sample. 

MODERN METROPOLIS – Commenced to weaken approaching the 500 metres to be beaten 128 metres and finished in last position.  Driver J Trainor could not afford Stewards any explanation into the gelding’s disappointing performance and added that in view of the way the gelding had stopped he was of the opinion that the gelding may have suffered atrial fibrillation.  Mr Trainor explained that up until the 500 metres the gelding was travelling well on the bit and then at that point dropped the bit suddenly and failed to travel thereafter.  In view of the gelding’s disappointing performance noting a similar performance recently at Bathurst on 16 December 2020, the gelding was stood down until it completes two requalifying trials and for a period of 14 days.  A post-race veterinary examination failed to reveal any obvious abnormalities.

MY PATRONUS NZ – Pre-race blood sample.  Over raced when positioned outside the leader throughout the event.

READY TO BLOOM – Manoeuvred three wide leaving the 1400 metres until shifting back into a position one out one back when MY PATRONUS NZ which was racing outside the leader improved forward.

ZION BROMAC NZ – Checked approaching the 400 metres when improving onto the back of the weakening MODERN METROPOLIS and shifting out momentarily to the inside of FRANKIES TOOTH causing that runner to be taken wider momentarily.

CLEMENTSORRELL – A pre and post-race veterinary examination was conducted due to the gelding having competed in excess of 200 race starts.  No obvious abnormalities were detected on either examination.  Improved three wide from the 1550 metres and at a point leaving the 1400 metres READY TO BLOOM improved three wide forward of him and as a result was restrained to the tail of the filed passing the 1200 metres.

RACE 4 – SUPER VOUCHER DRAW JAN 23 @ THE PACEWAY PACE – 2125 metres

I AM SERENGETI NZ – It was reported to Stewards post-race that the burr pole had broken during the event.

PAY ME OVERS NZ – Post-race swab sample.

THOMAS BURNS – Caught racing three wide in the early stages until being restrained to the tail of the field approaching the 1750 metres.  Improved three wide with a trail from the 800 metres. 

MISTER MAGIC MAN – Pre-race blood sample. 

FLYING PEGASUS – A pre and post-race veterinary examination was conducted due to the gelding having competed in excess of 200 race starts.  No obvious abnormalities were detected on either examination.  Caught racing three wide in the early stages until being restrained to the tail of the field passing the 1800 metres.

MAGNIFICO TO WATCH – Pre-race blood sample. 

SHAPE UP MIKE – Improved three wide from the 800 metres to race without cover for the remainder of the event.

RACE 5 – MATES 4 HARNESS MAIDEN PACE – 1720 metres

REDBANK CHARLOTTE – Failed to run on over the final 400 metres to be beaten 63 metres and finished in ninth position.  Driver R Morris could not offer Stewards any explanation into the filly’s disappointing performance noting that she had raced in a favourable position behind the leader throughout the event.  In view of the filly’s disappointing performance REDBANK CHARLOTTE was stood down until it completes one requalifying trial.

ON THE ROCK – Post-race swab sample.

MIYAGI BOY – Became unbalanced and galloped approaching the 600 metres before being retired from the event shortly after.  Trainer/driver B Portelli explained that he was of the opinion that the colt may have choked down approaching the 600 metres this was the reason that he retired the colt from the event. In view of the colt’s recent record MIYAGI BOY was stood down until it completes one requalifying trial.  A post-race veterinary examination failed to reveal obvious abnormalities. 

LOVIN MISS DIXIE – Pre-race blood sample.  Raced three wide in the early stages until working forward to obtain the position outside the leader passing the 1400 metres.

DODEES DAUGHTER – Caught racing three wide in the early stages until being restrained to the tail of the field at the 1400 metres.

SOHONIP – Hung in around the final turn whilst under pressure.

SILLY SID – Pre-race blood sample.  Re-included into the mobile barrier draw.

POSH ON THE BEACH - A pre and post-race veterinary examination was conducted due to the gelding not having competed in the previous 12 months.  No obvious abnormalities were detected on either examination.  Checked approaching the 600 metres when being steadied off the back of MIYAGI BOY when that runner galloped.  Re-included into the mobile barrier draw.

RACE 6 – DRAG BINGO JAN 30 @ THE PACEWAY PACE – 2125 metres

HOLLYWOOD ROOKI – Post-race swab sample.

PAIDINFULL – Pre-race blood sample.  Driver C Hart pleaded guilty to a charge under Rule 163(1)(a)(iii) for causing interference in that entering the first turn he has shifted PAIDINFULL down the track whilst being insufficiently clear of WHATS YOUR POISON resulting in WHATS YOUR POISON being checked and pacing roughly for a short distance.  Driver C Hart had his licence to drive in races suspended for a period of seven days to commence on midnight 23 January 2021.  In assessing penalty, Stewards took into consideration Mr Hart’s guilty plea, record in relation to the Rule and circumstances of this incident.  Unable to secure clear running in the early stages of the home straight and was not fully tested.

LETTUCEFIREHARVEY – Over raced throughout the event.

JILLIBY MONKEY – Pre-race blood sample. 

WHATS YOUR POISON – Checked and paced roughly entering the first turn when PAIDINFULL was shifted down the track whilst not being sufficiently clear of the gelding.

RACE 7 – RE-HOMING COMPANY PACE – 1720 metres

ART OF GRANGE – Became unbalanced and galloped passing the 300 metres whilst leading.  In view of the gelding’s recent record a warning was issued.

PROSTAR – Driver J Trainor was fined $50 under Rule 162(1)(h) for failing to come up into position by the start.  Failed to run on over the final 400 metres to be beaten 50 metres and finished in last position.  In view of the gelding’s disappointing performance a warning was issued.

HEY MISTER TAYLOR – Pre-race blood sample. 

LETHAL STAR NZ – Raced three wide in the early stages until working forward to obtain the position outside the leader passing the 1400 metres.

INFORMALITY – Pre-race blood sample. 

STARZZZINTHEMAKIN – Re-included into the mobile barrier draw.  Post-race swab sample.

RACE 8 – TOOHEYS PACE – 2125 metres

NAVUA COMMANCHE – Locked wheels momentarily on the entry to the home straight with ARE YOU WITH ME.  In view of the minimal movement from both runners, no direct action was taken and the incident was noted. 

CLARENDEN DAZZLER – Over raced throughout the event.

SPORT CADET – Pre-race blood sample. 

ARE YOU WITH ME – Improved three wide from the 1400 metres until obtaining the position outside the leader passing the 1300 metres.  Locked wheels momentarily with NAVUA COMMANCHE on entry to the home straight.  In view of the minimal movement from both runners, no direct action was taken and the incident was noted.  Post-race swab sample.
