Race 7 – FURNEYS HORSELAND LOCAL PACE – 1720M

Driver M. Simmons (SHESA POCKETROCKET) pleaded guilty to a charge under Rule 163(1)(a)(iii) for causing interference in that near the 1500 metres he shifted his runner down the track and tightened the racing room of SHEZA ROCKSTAR (T. Simmons licence to drive in races was suspended for a period of 21 days to commence at midnight Wednesday 5th January 2022. In assessing penalty Stewards took into account M. Driver M. Simmons (ROLL THE SEVEN) pleaded guilty to a charge under Rule 163(1)(a)(iii) for causing interference in that rounding the first turn he shifted his runner down the track when not sufficiently clear of TULHURST TERROR (N. Hurst) and as a result that runner contacted the near side sulky wheel of ROLL THE SEVEN and was checked and broke. M. Simmons licence to drive in races was suspended for a period of 21 days to commence at midnight 26th January 2022. In assessing penalty, Stewards took into account M. Simmons guilty plea, his driving record and also the degree of interference and carelessness.

Race 9 – LIFE MEMBERS PACE – 1720M

Stewards inquired into the reasons for MOON RAINBOW (A. Frisby) contacting and racing inside marker pegs near the 200 metres when racing to the inside of PIPPO NIEN (M. Simmons). After taking evidence from both drivers and reviewing, the films it was established that leaving the 400 metres PIPPO NIEN improved into a running line position to between JAYJAYBENNY (G. Edwards) and MOON RAINBOW and approaching the 200 metres the racing room became restricted due to JAYJAYBENNY shifting down the track marginally and as a result PIPPO NIEN was momentarily tightened for room and taken down onto MOON RAINBOW which was checked and raced inside marker pegs. As Stewards could not hold any driver responsible for the incident no action was taken.

Parkes – Friday 31st Decemeber 2021

Race 5 – LANGLANDS HANLON PARKES GOLD CUP – 1660M

SWEET HEAVEN - Stewards questioned Driver I. Ross in regards to the driving tactics adopted on the mare in particular the reasons for racing three wide for the majority of the event. Driver I. Ross stated that although the mare was successful at its previous start at Dubbo the mare never felt comfortable and had a tendency to race roughly due to the tightness of the track. I. Ross stated that in tonight’s event she was of the opinion that the mare would be best suited racing in a forward position as she didn’t want to be making a run wide on the track over the final 600 metres considering how the mare handled the small tracks previously. I. Ross further added that when she improved three wide she was of the opinion SMOOTH BAHT which was racing outside the lead would work forward to the front which would then allow her to obtain the position outside the lead. I. Ross advised that when YARRAMAN BELLA elected to hold the lead she was obliged to race wide for the remainder of the event. I. Ross said that the mare raced roughly at various stages again and that it was the intention of the connections to race the mare on bigger tracks going forward. The explanation was noted.

YARRAMAN BELLA – Stewards questioned Driver J. Sutton in regards to the tactics adopted on the mare in particular the reasons for maintaining the lead when challenged by SMOOTH BAHT. J. Sutton stated that although the mare was racing up in class he is of the opinion that the mare has raced best when able to lead in its career and due the good draw he elected to hold the lead when challenged. J. Sutton further added that although he withstood some pressure during the event he was satisfied with the performance considering the class of the event. Driver J. Sutton was cautioned for the manner in which he applied his whip over the final 150 metres.
