RACE 1 – THE LONGYARD HOTEL PACE – 1609 metres

IT AINT ROYAL – Had to be steadied and shifted wider when racing behind CRONIN rounding the turn after the start and because of this was obliged to race in a three wide position for some distance.  When questioned in relation to the performance T Ison explained that because of this and his lack of opportunity to race with cover the gelding weakened over the concluding stages.  A post-race veterinary examination revealed no abnormality. 

CRONIN – Had to be checked, broke stride and galloped when crowded by BLISSFULL DONNA rounding the turn after the start. Subsequently Miss E Chapple the driver of BLISSFULL DONNA, pleaded guilty to a charge under AR 163(1)(a)(iii), stating that rounding the turn after the start, she failed to make sufficient effort to prevent BLISSFULL DONNA from shifting into the path of CRONIN, resulting in CRONIN having the be checked, breaking stride and galloping.  E Chapple’s licence to drive in races was suspended for 14 days to commence at midnight on Sunday, 16 January and expire on Monday, 31 January on which day she may drive.

BLISSFULL DONNA – Pre-race blood sample was taken. 

PLAYBOY SHADOW – Hung in when placed under pressure in the home straight.  Connections were advised that a warning would be placed on the gelding’s racing record.  Post-race swab sample was obtained.

 

RACE 2 – THE PUB – GUNNEDAH ROAD PACE – 1980 metres

KUDOS MASON – Broke stride, galloped and shifted wider rounding the turn after the start, then weakened inside the 800 metres and tailed the field.  A post-race veterinary examination revealed the gelding displayed a poor recovery rate.  Trainer Mr C Harmey was advised that prior to racing again KUDOS MASON must perform satisfactorily in an official qualifying trial.

SPEED OF SOUND – Hampered and carried wider by KUDOS MASON when that runner broke rounding the first turn, resulting in the mare being checked, breaking stride and galloping for a considerable distance before being restrained.

IFOUNDTHEBEACH – Underwent a pre-race veterinary examination and was declared fit to compete.  Hampered and carried outwards rounding the turn after the start when racing behind SLIDE TO UNLOCK which was forced wider. 

OVERTHEMOON – Pre-race blood sample was taken.  Post-race swab sample was obtained.

SLIDE TO UNLOCK – Forced wider rounding the turn after the start to avoid SPEED OF SOUND and when being checked, broke stride and galloped for some distance.

 

 

RACE 3 – FAMILY HOTEL / CLUB MENANGLE COUNTRY SERIES HEAT – 1609 metres

ACOLTNAMEDSU – Pulled hard in the early and middle stages.

SHANKS FOR COMING – Broke stride and galloped rounding the turn after the start and could not be restrained immediately. Trainer Mr C Harmey was advised that a warning would be placed on the gelding’s record. 

MY KINDA JUSTUS – Hampered when racing behind SHANKS FOR COMING rounding the turn after the start and had to be steadied and shifted in.

MONTANA NIGHTS – Post-race swab sample was obtained.

GHOSTLY COURAGE – Pre-race blood sample was taken.

 

RACE 4 – THE BEVAN DOUGLAS PACE – 1609 metres

FREEDOM WRITER – Pre-race blood sample was taken.  Post-race swab sample was obtained.

DIESEL DON – Held up for a considerable distance after entering the back straight on the final occasion behind OUT OF CHARACTER which weakened at that time, then after obtaining clear running near the 400 metres had to be shifted very wide to improve.

WESTERN RICKI – Raced ungenerously in the score up and was unable to maintain its position at the barrier, then when being steadied near the 1200 metres raced roughly for a short distance and weakened over the concluding stages.  Trainer/driver Miss C Sutherland was advised that WESTERN RICKI would be placed outside the mobile barrier draw. 

RUM DELIGHT NZ – Contacted in the score up by WESTERN RICKI and was unbalanced for a short distance. 

 

RACE 5 – THE PUB GROUP GOLOD NUGGET – 1980 metres

VALENCIA – Pre-race blood sample was taken.  Had to be checked and broke stride rounding the turn after the start when crowded by ASTERISM which shifted in when not clear.  As a result of this SOMEBEACHSOMEGIFT which was following VALENCIA which had to be checked severely and shifted wider causing PORTALEGRE NZ to be hampered and carried wider.  Further, THE HERVEY BAY was hampered and had to be shifted in to avoid VALENCIA which continued to gallop and IM COMPLIANT NZ which was following, also was hampered and had to be shifted in to avoid VALENCIA.  Subsequently D Chapple the driver of ASTERISM pleaded guilty to a charge under AR 163(1)(a)(iii), stating that rounding the turn after the start, he allowed ASTERISM to shift in when insufficiently clear of VALENCIA, resulting in VALENCIA having to be checked and galloping for some distance with runners behind further inconvenienced. Mr Chapple’s licence to drive in races was suspended for a period of 14 days to commence at midnight on 16 January and expire on 31 January on which day he may resume.  A post-race veterinary examination of VALENCIA revealed no abnormality.

GOTTAHAVEAHOBBIE – Unable to maintain its position at the start and was slow away.

IM COMPLIANT NZ – Unable to maintain its position at the start and was slow away.

PORTALEGRE NZ – Post-race swab sample was obtained.

SURFERS DELIGHT NZ – Unable to maintain its position at the start and was slow away.

 

RACE 6 – MOONSHINERS – HONKY TONK BAR PACE – 1980 metres

IM FREYJA – Was crowded and forced to race inside the pegs for a considerable distance inside the 400 metres after contacting the sulky of ARMA VEYRON, which was crowded and raced roughly when being checked to avoid BIG BEAT, which shifted in for a considerable distance when not clear.  Subsequently the driver of BIG BEAT C Sutherland, pleaded guilty to a charge under AR 163(1)(a)(iii), stating that for some distance inside the 400 metres and rounding the turn into the home straight, she failed to make sufficient effort to prevent BIG BEAT from shifting in when insufficiently clear of ARMA VEYRON, which was crowded onto IM FREYJA.  C Sutherland’s licence to drive in races was suspended for a period of seven days to commence at midnight on 16 January and expire on 24 January on which day she may resume.

ATTAHUA ACE – Checked severely, galloped and the driver Mr S Welsh was unbalanced in the sulky after being forced outwards by REMEMBER BUBBLES, which shifted out when not clear.  Subsequently M Simon the driver of REMEMBER BUBBLES pleaded guilty to a charge under AR 163(1)(a)(iii), stating that approaching and rounding the home turn, she directed REMEMBER BUBBLES outwards when insufficiently clear of ATTAHUA ACE resulting in ATTAHUA ACE being checked severely.  M Simon’s licence to drive in races was suspended for a period of 21 days to commence at midnight on 11 January and expire on 2 February on which she may resume.

LURKING – Hampered and forced wider rounding the home turn to avoid ATTAHUA ACE which was being checked.

PENULTIMA – Broke stride and galloped rounding the turn near the 700 metres.  Connections were advised that a warning would be placed on the mare’s racing record.

ARMA VEYRON – Pre-race blood sample was taken.

BIG BEAT – Post-race swab sample was obtained.

MUDDY MONTANA – Held up for some distance rounding the home turn and in the early part of the straight and when being restrained raced roughly for some distance.  Trainer/driver Mr D Mackney was advised that MUDDY MONTANA could now be re-included in the mobile barrier draw.

 

RACE 7 – SOUTHGATE INN PACE – 1980 metres

WHOSAGINGER – Pre-race blood sample was taken.  Post-race swab sample was obtained.

OUR BUSHWACKER – Underwent a pre-race veterinary examination and was declared fit to compete. 

HORRIE OTARA – Raced in restricted room for a short distance to the home straight and had to be shifted in to go forward. 

 

RACE 8 – WWW.THEPUB.COM.AU PACE – 1980 metres

JAYTEES HAT – Unable to maintain its position at the start was slow to begin, then raced roughly for some distance in the early stages.  Connections were advised that a warning would be placed on the mare’s racing record.

JUST FEELNGOOD – Fractious during the parade prior to the score up, reared, became unbalanced and fell on its side. Underwent inspection by the club’s veterinary officer, was declared not suitable to compete.  Acting on this advice JUST FEELNGOOD was scratched at 10.08pm and when the all clear was given it was ordered that all bets made on JUST FEELNGOOD be refunded in full and all successful wages placed with bookmakers be subject to the reduction of 20 cents win and 18 cents place on the face value of the betting ticket.

FLY CHEVAL – Post-race swab sample was obtained.

BILLBOARD BONNIE – Pre-race blood sample was taken. 

IAM THE JOKER – Prior to the declaration of all clear the driver Mr S Welsh was interviewed in relation to the starting procedure.  Mr Welsh stated that although momentarily hampered behind JAYTEES HAT at the start, he was able to improve around that runner with ease and obtain a position that was favourable.  He said that throughout the race IAM THE JOKER raced in accordance with his pre-race planning and the incident at the start did not have an impact on the gelding’s finishing position.  Acting on this advice, observations of the start and the running of the event, all clear was declared.

THE TOOTH FAIRY – Over raced during the middle stages.  Connections were advised that the mare would now be eligible to be replaced in the mobile barrier draw.
