RACE 1 – AV STONE MARBLE AND GRANITE PACE – 1770 metres

BAINBRIDGE – Broke stride shortly after the start. Considering it was the gelding’s first race start, BAINBRIDGE will be placed outside the mobile barrier draw in future starts.

MARCOS – Caught racing three wide in the early stages until being restrained to the tail of the field at the 1400 metres.

LA TOISON DOR – Had a tendency to over race when leading the event. Post race sample.

MAJOR JAMANE – Pre race blood sample.

 

RACE 2 – TAB LONG MAY WE PLAY PACE – 1770 metres

WONGALEA PENNY - Pre race blood sample.

RED ENVY NZ - Post race sample.

TACKAS PRINCESS – During the preliminary, cast an off side front shoe. As a result the near side front was also removed and the mare raced barefoot in front. Broke stride in the latter stages of the score up. A warning was issued.

WILLOW – Caught racing three wide until being restrained to a position in the running line near the tail of the field at the 1500 metres.

 MODERN POWER- Caught racing three wide in the early stages, when unable to find a position in the running line the gelding was obliged to race wide for the remainder of the event. Driver P Doody was questioned on the tactics adopted throughout the event. He  stated  when unable to obtain a position in the running line when negotiating the first turn he elected to work forward in an attempt to obtain a position outside the lead. When realising that position was unavailable at the 1200 metres he restrained his runner to the middle of the field although racing three wide  believing it would have been detrimental to restrain at that stage of the race. He further added that when leaving the 500 metres he was able to obtain some cover when placed under pressure over the final stages and considering the run afforded the gelding performed better than he expected. His comments were noted.  Driver P Doody pleaded guilty to a charge under rule 159A(2) helmet incorrectly fastened, when approaching the 1000 metres his chin strap on his driving helmet come from beneath his chin to a position around his nose with his helmet tipping to the back of his head, when leaving the 1000 metres Mr Doody readjusted his helmet to its rightful position. When assessing penalty stewards took into consideration Mr Doody’s record with regards to this rule and his guilty plea and as such was fined the sum of $300.

 

RACE 3 – GLEN MIA (ACT) SADDLERY PACE – 1770 metres

SAFARI DANCER – Surrended the lead at the 1400 metres to FEELING HALL GOOD.

LITTLE ARCHIE – Pre race blood sample.

FEELING HALL GOOD – Worked forward to obtain the lead at the 1400 metres. Driver M Turnbull was questioned on his tactics in the early stages in particular thought that the first quarter being run in  28.1. M Turnbull stated when challenging for the lead in the early stages he had to do more work than anticipated, then when finding the lead at the 1400 metres the gelding contacted it`s own sulky when being restrained as a result the first quarter was run faster than anticipated. He further added the gelding travelled comfortable for the remainder of the race and only tired over the final 100 metres.

ZOSHADY – Tired over the final 500 metres to be beaten 60 metres. A warning was issued. Trainer / driver Anne Walshaw was questioned on the mare’s overall performance. A Walshaw stated that the early fast tempo of the race and the consistent speed throughout was unsuitable for the mare and when placed under pressure at the 500 metres failed to respond.

 

RACE 4 – OSKAR MEMORIALS PACE – 2170 metres

TASTE IT – Surrended the lead at the 1550 metres to THE TALK.

DUNNO JOE – Had a tendency to over race throughout the event.

ICANTSEE – Pre race blood. Had a tendency to over race throughout the event. Approaching the 300 metres was placed in restricted racing room and inconvenienced when AKUMA hung in.

AKUMA – Approaching the 300 metres when racing under pressure had a tendency to hang in, as a result placed ICANTSEE in restricted racing room for a short distance. A warning was placed on the gelding’s record.

THE TORQUE – Caught racing three wide until working forward to the lead at the 1550 metres. Post race sample.

DYSLEXIC NZ – Tired over the final 600 metres to be beaten 148 metres. A post race veterinary examination failed to reveal any abnormalities. Driver M Turnbull was questioned on the overall performance of the gelding. M Turnbull stated when racing on the tighter turns had a tendency to race roughly and as a result lost ground on each turn. When placed under pressure at the 600 metres, failed to respond and could give no other reasonable explanation for the performance. DYSLEXIC NZ will be stood down for one requalifying trial. At the request of connections the gelding will be placed back in the mobile barrier draw in future starts.

 

RACE 5 – J W O’SULLIVAN & SONS TROTTERS MOBILE – 1770 metres

CHARLIE THE GREAT – Pre race blood sample. Leaving the 1500 metres had a tendency to hang in contacting marker pegs and as result became unbalanced and broke stride. A warning was issued.

MASTER COMBATANT – Surrended the lead at the 1400 metres to THEBESTBOURBON.

THEBESTBOURBON – Worked forward to obtain the lead from MASTER COMBATANT at the 1400 metres. Post race sample.

ERATIGENA – Had a tendency to over race throughout the event.

JUNGLE EYES – Raced three wide for the final 900 metres without cover.

JUNGLE SPIDER – Right outside the mobile barrier draw will be removed however the gelding will now be placed outside the mobile barrier draw in future starts.

 

RACE 6 – ACT TYREPOWER BELCONNEN MAIDEN PACE – 1770 metres

LAST TIME JOE - Pre race blood sample.

PETE MITCHELL – Despite the efforts of the driver, was out of position at the start. The gelding will be given its last chance in the draw.

SATIN BANYULA – Despite the efforts of the driver, was out of position at the start. A warning was issued. Post race sample.

LUCKY RAIDER – Despite the efforts of the driver was out of position at the start. The gelding will continue to be placed outside the mobile barrier draw in future starts. Approaching the 500 metres became unbalanced and broke stride. As a result of galloping the off side front hopple loop broke. On inspection the gear was deemed suitable for the  racing. Considering the gelding’s recent record LUCKY RAIDER will be stood down for a period of 14 days and must also re qualify on two occasions.

 

RACE 7 – EXQUISITE JEWLLERS KIPPAX TROTTERS MOBILE – 2170 metres

FOX TROT HILL – Leaving the 1800 metres became unbalanced and broke stride. The mare will be stood down for one re – qualifying trial. Held up for clear racing room until the entrance of the home straight on the final occasion.

ORLANDO STORM - Pre race blood sample. Checked and broke at the 1800 metres when trailing FOX TROT HILL.

BIG SUN – Post race sample.
