DOCTA FEELGOOD – Hampered and had to be shifted wider approaching the home turn when carried out by HEAVENLY HOLLY.

YOHA NZ - Post-race urine sample was obtained.

ROCKNROLL SWINGER – When questioned in relation to the performance, trainer/driver Mr M Formosa said that ROCKNROLL SWINGER is best advantaged when racing in the lead and he attempted to achieve this in the early stages, however was caught wide for some distance and assumed the position outside the lead where the mare travelled relatively well in the early and middle stages, however her condition gave out inside the 400 metres and it commenced to weaken.  He said that after this ROCKNROLL SWINGER broke stride free of any external factors and after being restrained could not improve.  He said that he attributed this in the main to the mare resuming from a lengthy spell tonight.  A post-race veterinary examination revealed no abnormality.  Mr Formosa was advised that a warning would be placed on the mare’s record.

HEAVENLY HOLLY – Hampered and had to be shifted wider approaching the home turn to avoid ROCKNROLL SWINGER which galloped.

ASTERISM – Trainer/driver Mr D Chapple was advised that a warning for breaking stride during the score up would be placed on the gelding’s record.

MARTY MAJOR – Pre-race blood sample was obtained.

RACE 5 – TAB REGIONAL CHAMPIONSHIPS – HUNTER CONSOLATION – 2030 metres

ULTIMATE FORCE – Post-race urine sample was obtained.

SERGEI – Post-race urine sample was obtained.

OLEG – Post-race urine sample was obtained.

ROCKTAGONAL – Had to be checked for some distance inside the 500 metres and lost considerable ground when racing behind SCOTCH EN ICE which weakened.

SCOTCH EN ICE – Pre-race blood sample was obtained.  When questioned in relation to the performance, driver Mr M Elkins explained that after what he considered to be a moderate first quarter he drove forward to obtain a position outside the lead.  He said that during this time he was forced to race wide and place SCOTCH EN ICE under more pressure than he had envisaged when SERGEI did not relinquish that position easily.  He said that after this SCOTCH EN ICE did not travel strongly and commenced to weaken approaching the 400 metres.  Trainer Mr V Frost said that in his opinion SCOTCH EN ICE had not been suited to a change of its stabling routine during the past week when the gelding was stabled at a venue other than its regular base.  He said that he intended to monitor the recovery of SCOTCH EN ICE and if it recovered well its preparation would be continued and it would resume racing in another State.  A post-race veterinary examination revealed no abnormality.

FAR OUT BRO – Pre-race blood sample was obtained.  Post-race urine sample was obtained.

RACE 7 – MATT HALL WORLD CHAMPION PILOT PACE – 1609 meters

RACE 9 – TAB LONG MAY WE PLAY PACE – 1609 metres

AMERICAN KESTREL – Trainer/driver Miss R Brooks pleaded guilty to a charge under AR 156(2)(a), stating that when applying the whip in the home straight, she did so in a manner that exceeded a wrist only flicking motion.  Miss Brooks was fined $200.

CLASSIC ARC – Pre-race blood sample was obtained.

NASHOLI – When questioned in relation to his drive, particularly when passing the winning post after receiving the bell and approaching the home turn, B Elder explained that after being restrained at the start, he raced at the rear of the field in the running line where NASHOLI travelled well.  He said that rounding the turn after the bell when racing behind RUM DELIGHT NZ the gelding continued to travel strongly and he intended to improve at the entrance to the back straight. He said that at that time he directed Nasholi to the inside of RUM DELIGHT, however that runner improved into the position forward of him resulting in him being held up and forced to restrain. He said after this, he elected to remain at the rear of the field as he was reluctant to improve around runners due to the gelding having a history of breaking stride when caught wide when turning. He added that after entering the home straight he had difficulty securing clear running whilst still travelling strongly and stated that in his opinion, had he secured the run on the marker pegs at the entrance to the back straight ahead of RUM DELIGHT, Nasholi would have won.

RUM DELIGHT NZ – Post-race urine sample was obtained.

NEVELLE SHANNON – Driver Mr J Enks pleaded guilty to a charge under AR 156(2) (a), stating that when applying the whip in the home straight, he did so in a manner that exceeded a wrist only flicking motion.  Mr Enks was fined $200.
