CANONLYBEONESIR – Over raced during the middle stages of the event.

RITCHIE BEE – Caught racing wide in the early stages of the event before being restrained to the tail of the field passing the 1650 metres.  Tired over the concluding stages of the event.  A post-race veterinary examination of the gelding revealed it to have bled from both nostrils and acting in accordance with Rule 101(3)(a) was stood down for a period of three months, the production of a veterinary certificate of clearance and one requalifying trial.  Connections advised that the gelding would now likely be retired.

MONEY HONEY NZ – Caught racing three wide in the early stages of the event before working forward to the lead passing the 1700 metres.  Post-race swab sample.

CHEETAH LODGE – Broke stride during the score up.  After considering the explanation provided by Mr Callaghan, which suggested the gelding had been baulked by the clerk, Stewards determined to take no further action.  Held up in the home straight and not fully tested.

RACE 2 – STARDUST CIRCUS @ PENRITH SHOWGROUND NOW PACE – 2125 metres

BEE OKAY – Pulled hard during the score up.  Over raced when racing outside the leader before tiring over the concluding stages of the event to finish in tenth placing beaten 73 metres.  Stewards questioned driver Nathan Xuereb with regards to the performance of the filly who advised that BEE OKAY was having its first run back from a spell and fired up as a result of being fresh.  Mr Xuereb felt the gelding may have choked up as a result of racing keenly and would be better for the run.  After considering the recent record of the filly, it was stood down until the completion of one requalifying trial.

MY BELLE AND ME – Pre-race blood sample.  Hung in and contacted marker pegs upon entry to the home straight on the first occasion.

ALFS ODYSSEY – Tired over the concluding stages of the event.  A post-race veterinary examination revealed the gelding to have bled from both nostrils and acting in accordance with Rule 101(3)(a) was stood down for a period of three months, the production of a veterinary certificate of clearance and one requalifying trial.  Connections advised the gelding would now likely be retired.

PROCUREMENT – Worked forward to the lead passing the 1350 metres.  Shifted out under pressure despite the efforts of driver Jack Callaghan between the 600 metres and the 400 metres which enabled SCOTTS RAIN to obtain a run to the inside.  A post-race veterinary examination of the gelding failed to reveal any obvious abnormalities.  Stewards questioned driver Jack Callaghan with regards to the racing manners of the gelding, who advised that trainer Peter Russo had elected to add an undercheck to the gear of the gelding this evening and in his mind the gelding had resented that piece of gear and as a result was shifting up the track on a number of occasions during the event.  After considering the recent record of the gelding, it was given its last chance to race truly.
