RACE 1 – WESTS ENTERTAINMENT GROUP MAIDEN PACE – 1980 metres

TRALEE CHARLIE – Had a tendency to shift out when placed under pressure over the concluding stages. Post-race swab sample.

BETTERTHANKYLIE – Caught racing three wide in the early stages of the event prior to, restraining towards the rear of the field to obtain a position in the running line passing the 1700 meters. Leaving the 600 meters commenced to weaken over the concluding stages to be beaten 57 meters. Stewards questioned driver R Atkins in relation to the performance of the filly. Mr Atkins could not offer any explanation into the performance other than he was disappointed and that the stable would look to spell the filly prior to competing again. In view of the filly’s recent racing record, BETTERTHANKYLIE was stood down to one re-qualifying trial.

OUR CHANELLE – Pre-race blood sample.

ABBYS BLAST – Became unbalanced and broke gait shortly after the start was effected. A warning was issued.

ROGUE BLING – Had a tendency to hang in when placed under pressure in the early stages of the run to the finish.

WHAT FOR – Stewards queried driver G Chapple and trainer A Ruggari in relation to the gelding’s below market performance ($3 Fav) when finishing in sixth position beaten 10.5 meters. Mr Chapple stated that he was content with the position his runner found in the running line and had a favourable trip. Mr Chapple added that he expected his runner to have more to offer over the concluding stages and, that the gelding had been disappointing in all runs since returning from a spell. Stewards noted his comments. Mr Ruggari explained that the gelding had suffered from a virus earlier in the preparation and, that the gelding may have not recovered entirely which may have led to the disappointing performance. Mr Ruggari added that he intended on conducting blood tests on the gelding and advising stewards on any abnormalities. Stewards noted his comments.

RACE 2 – GARRARDS HORSE AND HOUND PACE – 1609 metres

SKY OPERATIVE – Post-race swab sample.

MAGIC SHOOS – Caught racing three wide in the early stages of the event prior to, working forward to obtain the position outside of the leader leaving the 1100 meters.

UNCLE GREGORY – Pre-race blood sample.

TIZ A MAGICTIME – Caught racing three wide in the early stages of the event prior to, restraining towards the rear of the field leaving the 900 meters at which point the mare was inclined to over-race. Commenced to weaken over the concluding stages to beaten some distance. Connections were advised that, TIZ A MAGICTIME would be placed on its last chance to race truly.

RACE 3 – CARPET ONE FLOOR & HOME TAMWORTH PACE – 1980 metres

ROCKIN IN CHELSEA – Worked forward to obtain the lead passing the 1700 meters. Post-race swab sample.

RACE 4 – PKF ACCOUNTANTS TAMWORTH PACE – 1609 metres

GALIANT KNIGHT – Became unbalanced and broke gait after entering the first turn as a result, IM FREYJA was checked and raced roughly whilst TO INFINITYNBEYOND was hampered and had to be steadied away from the running line. A warning was issued.

LASSETER SHANNON – Caught racing three wide in the early stages of the event prior to, restraining towards the rear of the field to obtain a position in the running line leaving the 1400 meters.

LORD BAZALUP – Caught racing three wide in the early stages of the event prior to, working forward to obtain the lead passing the 1200 meters. Post-race swab sample

BETTOR A GIRL – Pre-race blood sample. Caught racing three wide in the early stages of the event prior to, restraining towards the rear of the field to obtain a position in the running line passing the 1300 meters.

IM FREYJA – Checked and raced roughly after entering the first turn as a result of GALINAT KNIGHT breaking gait at that stage of the event.

TO INFINITYNBEYOND – Hampered and had to be steadied away from the running line after entering the first turn as a result of GALIANT KNIGHT breaking gait at that stage of the event.

RACE 5 – TAMWORTH TREATED TIMBERS PACE – 1980 metres

BOOKER BAY – Had a tendency to over-race throughout the early and middle stages of the event. Post-race swab sample.

RONZEL GRINNER – Pre-race blood sample.

NIGHT LIGHTS NZ – Caught racing three wide in the early stages of the event prior to, working forward to obtain the position outside of the leader leaving the 1700 meters.

IMPERIAL SNAPPER – Caught racing three wide in the early stages of the event prior to, restraining towards the rear of the field to obtain a position in the running line approaching the 1600 meters.

DOTHEDEALDYLAN – Had a tendency to over-race throughout the early and middle stages of the event.

OUR ROYS DREAM – Driver S Ison was cautioned for the manner in which he applied the whip over the concluding stages.

SIR MACADOR NZ – Improved three wide from the 1300 meters until obtaining the position outside of the leader passing the 1100 meters.

RACE 6 – JOHNS AUTO SERVICE PACE – 1980 metres

SALS GLEE – Checked and lost momentum passing the 450 meters until the 250 meters behind the tiring ROSETTA SHANNON.

ROSETTA SHANNON – Commenced to weaken over the concluding stages to be beaten some distance.

BIG SKEWY NZ – Worked forward to obtain the lead passing the 1500 meters. Driver B Elder reported to the stewards that, during the event the deafeners failed to release when attempting to activate passing the 250 meters. Post-race swab sample.

UPTOTRIX – Checked and lost momentum passing the 450 meters until the 300 meters behind the tiring ROSETTA SHANNON. Stewards queried driver M Sullivan in relation to the tactics adopted during the event, in particular from a point passing the 600 meters where he elected to stay racing along the marker pegs and not trail RAINBOW JET into a two wide position. Mr Sullivan explained that passing the 600 meters his runner was idling and, he wanted to give his runner the most economical run over the concluding stages. Mr Sullivan further explained that had he followed RAINBOW JET into a two wide position he believed it would not have affected his finishing position due to the manner in which his runner finished the race. Stewards noted his comments.

PARATROUPER – Driver M Grima was cautioned for the manner in which he applied the whip over the concluding stages.

RAINBOW JET – Pre-race blood sample.

ROCLEA IMAGE – Driver J Coney was fined the sum of $50 under rule 162(1)(h) for failing to have the gelding in position at the start.

RACE 7 – PACING FOR PINK PACE – 1609 meters

HIGHINAUCKLAND – Had a tendency to over-race for a majority of the event prior to, weakening over the concluding stages to beaten some distance. Connections were advised that HIGHINAUCKLAND would be placed on its last chance to race truly. A post-race veterinary exam failed to reveal any abnormalities.

VAN LADDIE NZ – Examined pre and post-race in accordance with HRNSW’s welfare policy. No abnormalities were reported.

CASINO COMDEY – Pre-race blood sample.

JUST TOMMY – Became unbalanced and broke gait shortly after the start was effected. In view of the gelding’s recent record connections were advised, JUST TOMMY would now be excluded from the mobile barrier draw.

MONTANA NIGHTS – When negotiating the final turn had a tendency to hang in and contact marker pegs as a result, driver C Shepherdson became unbalanced in the sulky and dropped his left below the foot rest for a short distance.

BIG TIME HUSTLER – Driver S Harmey pleaded guilty to a charge under rule 156(2)(a) for unacceptable whip use in that, whilst applying the whip over the concluding stages he did so in a manner considered not to be a wrist only flicking motion. When assessing penalty consideration was given to, the recent record of Mr Harmey along with his guilty plea. S Harmey was fined the sum of $400.

ZOEMAGIC – Driver B Hughes was fined the sum of $50 under rule 162(1)(j) for failing to maintain his position behind the mobile barrier as the start was effected.

IM QUICK AS FIRE NZ – Completed a pre-race warm up prior to competing. Broke gait during the early stages of the score up for some distance. Connections were advised that, IM QUICK AS FIRE NZ would be continued outside of the mobile barrier draw. Post-race swab sample.

RACE 8 – TAB APP CLUB MENANGLE COUNTRY SERIES HEAT – 1609 meters

RAMBUNCTIOUS – Pre-race blood sample.

IAM THE JOKER – Caught racing three wide in the early stages of the event prior to, restraining towards the rear of the field to obtain a position in the running line leaving the 1300 meters. Upon entry into the back straight on the first occasion was hampered momentarily and had to be eased, as a result of MISS MARAVU breaking gait at that stage of the event. Commenced to weaken over the concluding stages to be beaten some distance.

GERALDTON WAX – Caught racing three wide in the early stages of the event prior to, restraining towards the rear of the field to obtain a position in the running line passing the 1300 meters. Upon entry into the back straight on the first occasion was hampered momentarily and had to be eased, as a result of MISS MARAVU breaking gait at that stage of the event.

BLISSFULL IDENTITY – Caught racing three wide in the early stages of the event prior to, securing a position in the running line the running line leaving the 1300 meters.

SOMETHINGABOUTLEXY – Post-race swab sample.

IDEAL SPORTS GIRL – When negotiating the first turn had a tendency to hang in.

MISS MARAVU – Raced roughly during the score up and was out of position at the start. A warning was issued. Became unbalanced and broke gait when negotiating the first turn and again shortly after entering the back straight on the first occasion. In view of the mare’s recent record, MISS MARAVU was stood down to one re-qualifying trial.

RACE 9 – NATIONAL VOLUNTEER WEEK – BETTER TOGETHER PACE – 1609 meters

WERENT WATCHING NZ – Driver T Ison was issued a reprimand under rule 163(1)(a)(iii) for causing interference in that, when passing the 500 meters he had permitted his runner to shift wider on the track when not sufficiently clear of MISO MISO  which was racing to his outside. As a result, MISO MISO was placed in restricted room and raced roughly for a short distance.

AMERICAN FLYER NZ – Pre-race blood sample. Worked forward to obtain the lead leaving the 1400 meters. Commenced to weaken over the concluding stages to be beaten 69.9 meters. Stewards queried driver B Elder in relation to the performance of the mare. Mr Elder stated that the mare was first up for the stable and that his runner had been working well leading into the event. Mr Elder added that the mare may have not appreciated racing in the lead and that they may look to race with cover going forward. A post-race veterinary exam failed to reveal any abnormalities. In view of the mare’s recent record, AMERICAN FLYER NZ was stood down to one re-qualifying trial.

TRALEE ROCKS – Caught racing three wide in the early stages of the event prior to, working forward to obtain the position outside of the leader approaching the 1300 meters.

MISO MISO – Passing the 500 meters was placed in restricted room and raced roughly for a short distance, as a result of WERENT WATCHING NZ shifting wider on the track at that stage of the event.

Stewards conducted an inquiry into MONTANA NIGHTS being out of position at the start.

 

Subsequently driver A Varga was fined the sum of $50 under rule 162(1)(h) for failing to have the gelding in position at the start.
