RACE 3 – TOWN AND COUNTRY RURAL SUPPLIES PACE – 1730 metres

GENERAL – Prior to the all clear Stewards considered an objection lodged by 2nd past the post IM DESIRABLE (B Micallef) against 1st past the post MARMITTA (N Turnbull) alleging interference over the final 150 metres. After viewing the available race day footage and taking evidence from both parties stewards concluded that when entering the home straight on the final occasion that MARMITTA had shifted up the track to some degree but over the final 100 metres IM DESIRABLE had also hung in under pressure contributing to the incident. Considering the racing manners of both runners and the margin between both horses, Stewards could not be comfortably satisfied that if this incident had not occurred that the placing would have been reversed and as such the protest was dismissed and all clear given on the judges numbers of 5,8,4 and 3.
