RACE 1 – HAPPY DAYS & CO PACE – 1758 metres
SMOKIN TALLY – Underwent pre and post-race veterinary examinations due to the gelding having attaining the age of 14 years old & started in excess of 200 starts. Neither examination revealed any significant abnormalities.
SPECIAL MEANING – ($5.00) Trainer Michael Towers was queried into the seemingly improved performance of the gelding compared to recent starts & the tactics adopted on the gelding in particular driven more aggressively from the start to maintain the lead throughout. Mr Towers advised he felt the gelding was dropping in grade and opposition to recent starts. Mr Towers added when the gelding has been able to lead in its races on prior form it appears to race more genuinely which was the main factor in him engaging driver Jackson Painting which he instructed him to drive the gelding more aggressively in the small field. Mr Towers added the gelding was assisted also with the moderate overall mile rate of 2.1.3 & the final 800m only recorded in 61.5 seconds. SPECIAL MEANING was detained on course for a post-race blood sample to be obtained 2 ½hrs following the event. Post-race swab.
GOLDEN REASON – Pre-race swab. Driver Mikayla Towers was queried into the overall performance of the gelding which finished in 6th position beaten 7.6m after racing in a favourable one-one position throughout. Ms Towers advised the gelding to be slightly disappointing & contributed the performance to the gelding failing to back up from its most recent start on Tuesday 29th October.

In assessing penalty Stewards took into account the relevant considerations as outlined within the HRNSW Penalty Guidelines placing particular weight on Mr Richard’s guilty plea, his clear driving record under this rule (674 drives) & the racing manners of JOLTED LOVER. Stewards accordingly imposed a seven (7) day suspension of his licence to drive in races which was ordered to commence midnight 3rd November 2024.
