S Morris explained that she had attempted to make her intentions to maintain the lead clear to L Green and was concerned he was not understanding of her intent. In view of S Morris’ longstanding good record and forthright evidence, S Morris was issued a reprimand under Rule 162(1)(c).

MARIA THERESA NZ – Became unbalanced and broke gait passing the 900 metres. The mare then resumed in her correct gait and approaching the 200 metres broke gait on a second occasion. Near the 900 metres was checked by MARIA THERESA NZ when that runner broke gait. Approaching the 200 metres became unbalanced and broke gait. MAJESTIC FUNDS – Pre-race blood sample. Leaving the 500 metres became unbalanced and broke gait. A warning was issued. Driver L Green explained he was confident MAJESTIC FUNDS would be capable of sitting in the position outside the leader however the colt was inclined to over race. He added he did not challenge for the lead and was attempting to steady MAJESTIC FUNDS during the early and middle stages. He added that the colt’s recent form prior to a spell gave him confidence that MAJESTIC FUNDS would be competitive over the concluding stages if the colt trotted throughout. L Green’s explanation was noted. MAJESTIC FUNDS will now be reincluded in the mobile barrier draw.

He added he was satisfied with the tempo of the event however when PARALLEL improved quickly near the 700 metres he did not want to make a move as he believed it was too far from the finish for his runner. He said that he commenced to improve his position leaving the 500 metres and approaching the 400 metres he found himself wider on the track than suitable and this continued into the entrance to the home straight which made it difficult for his runner to make up ground. He added two starts ago at Menangle, MUSICSTAR was driven with cover and finished the race off well in good time.
