RACE 1 – STU VALENTINE PACE – 1730 metres

CHASIN BETTER DAYS – Driver O Frisby was cautioned on her whip use in the home straight on the final occasion.

NEW TRICKS NZ – Tired over the final 400 metres to finish in 10th and last position beaten 85 metres. A post-race veterinary examination revealed the mare to be lame in the offside foreleg. NEW TRICKS NZ will be stood down for a veterinary clearance prior to starting again.

ALWAYSBMINNIE – Driver J Reynolds was issued a reprimand under Rule 170(1)(b) in that when activating gear at the 1300 metres  has allowed his left foot to lower below the sulky rest. J Reynolds was questioned on his tactics between the 1300 metres and the 1000 metres where after working forward three wide in the early stages to obtain the position outside the leader he applied the whip to the filly in an attempt to obtain the lead when it was reasonable to expect that position not be available. He stated although doing some work to obtain the position outside the leader he believes the filly to have high speed and would be able to obtain the lead if he placed pressure on TAKE OUT, when unable to he raced outside the leader where the filly was disappointing considering her recent form.

 

RACE 2 – BOURKES HORSE RUGS PACE – 1730 metres

IDEAL TIMING – Post-race swab sample.

NOR WESTA – Pre-race blood sample. Stewards approved E Dwyer replace L Rando as he had transport difficulties on route to the track.

 

RACE 3 – HYNASH CONSTRUCTIONS PACE – 2260 metres

MICK DANGER – Post-race swab sample.

BEACHRIDE – Driver B Hewitt was queried on the overall performance of the gelding where he failed to run on over the concluding stages to finish in 7th position beaten 19.3 metres. B Hewitt stated the gelding was up in grade in tonight’s event and as a result elected to restrain to the tail of the field, when making a run from the 400 metres he was forced to race wide making it difficult with the fast last half mile to make ground.

ROCKU – Had a tendency to shift out under pressure in the home straight on the final occasion.

RACE 4 – TAB VENUE MODE PACE – 1730 metres

BO DUKE NZ – Driver A Turnbull was questioned on the overall performance of the gelding after racing in the one out one back position failed to run on over the concluding stages to finish in 9th position beaten 15.1 metres. A Turnbull stated she was disappointed in the gelding in tonight’s event and would look to drop back in grade away from Bathurst if circumstances permit

SKITTLE BOMB NZ – Driver J Turnbull was fined $50 under Rule 162(1)(j) for failing to maintain his position behind the mobile barrier arm prior to the start. Post-race swab sample.

RACE 5 – EQUISSAGE PACE – 1730 metres

I BREAK THE LINE – Post-race swab sample.

OLD LUKE NZ – Pre-race blood sample.

 

RACE 6 – BARKERS BUTCHERY PACE – 1730 metres

CARBAGANOOSH – Pre-race blood sample.

THE DANCER – Driver A Winnell was advised to modify his whip use in the home straight on the final occasion.

DONT TELL PHYLLIS – Trainer/Driver O Frisby was questioned on the overall performance of the gelding. O Frisby stated she was disappointed in the overall performance after beginning well thought she would be able to lead and when unable to do so the gelding failed to settle when racing outside the lead. She further added the gelding had been in work for some period of time and may look to freshen him up in the coming weeks. A post-race veterinary examination failed to reveal any abnormalities.

STUDLEIGH STARLITE – Driver J Davis was issued a reprimand under Rule 168(1)(a) in that when approaching the 300 metres when shifting from the back of BELL RIVER BOY has allowed his runner to improve onto the inside sulky wheel of MITSI GAYNOR NZ. Held up for clear racing room in the run to the finish and was not fully tested.

MITSI GAYNOR NZ – Leaving the 300 metres the inside sulky wheel was contacted by STUDLEIGH STARLITE.

RACE 7 – BHRC AWARDS PRESENTATION MAY 26TH PACE – 1730 metres

ROSIE ROMANCE – Held up for clear racing room in the run to the finish and was not fully tested.

HALL MOST AN ANGEL – Driver O Frisby was issued a reprimand under Rule 168(1)(a) in that when approaching the 400 metres when shifting her runner off the back of HOOKED ON WINNING NZ has contacted that runners outside sulky wheel racing roughly for a short distance. In not taking further action, Stewards considered the racing manners of HALL MOST AN ANGEL at the time of shifting wider.

FIFTY THREE STARS – Approaching the 400 metres was inconvenienced when trailing HALL MOST AN ANGEL which had contacted a sulky wheel and raced roughly.

HOOKED ON WINNING NZ – Pre-race blood sample. Leaving the 400 metres the outside sulky wheel was contacted by HALL MOST AN ANGEL. Post-race swab sample.

 

RACE 8 – HRNSW GUARANTEED LADYSHIP PACE – 1730 metres

JOSEY MINT – Driver P Wood was fined $50 under Rule 162(1)(i) for failing to come up to the mobile barrier by the time the candy pole was reached.

ALLNIGHT DANCER – Post-race swab sample.

TULHURST JANET – Had a tendency to over race when racing outside the leader.

GISSELLE – A pre and post-race veterinary examination was conducted as the filly has not started since 22 March 2023. No abnormalities were detected on either examination. Driver A Grives was questioned on her driving tactics from the 600 metres until the 300 metres where there may have been an opportunity to have improve into the race through that period. A Grives stated the filly was first up for 13 months and elected to restrain in the early stages, with the tempo of the race being even there was no opportunity to improve forward as the filly at this stage of her career only has a 300 metre sprint. Mrs Grives further added when negotiating the turn at the 450 metres the filly felt uneven in her gear and was unable to improve although the leader had some advantage over the field. Stewards advised Mrs Grives they would expect he filly to be driven similar in coming races where circumstances permit

SUSIEQ SHANNON – Pre-race blood sample.

CELEBRITY CRUISE – Held up for clear racing room in the run to the finish and was not fully tested.

 

RACE 9 – RELIANCE CREDIT UNION PACE – 1730 metres

TENEACHWAY – Post-race swab sample.

SIR CANDY CLOUD – Pre-race blood sample. Approaching the 900 metres when working forward three wide became unbalanced and broke stride. Considering the gelding’s recent racing record SIR CANDY CLOUD will be stood down for a period of 28 days and must also requalify on four occasions.

IRK MCGLURK – Driver J Betts was fined $200 under Rule 156(2)(a) in that when applying his whip in the home straight on the final occasion has done so with more than a wrist flicking motion.
