Harness Racing NSW Strategic Plan - Call for Submissions

31 May 2023

Want to Have Your Say In the Future of the Harness Racing Industry in NSW?

Here’s Your Chance - Harness Racing NSW Strategic Plan - Call for Submissions

Harness Racing NSW has just begun a communication and engagement process, the outcomes of which will guide the development of our next Industry Strategic Plan for the years 2024 to 2026.
We have begun the process of seeking submissions from all Clubs and Associations as well as other stakeholder groups and HRNSW partners. Engagement with the Harness Racing Industry Consultative Group has also commenced.
We are also keen to hear from as broad a cross section of industry participants and supporters as possible.
So if you would like to have your say we would like to hear from you.
While you are more than welcome to structure your submission in any way you believe is appropriate, we are encouraging respondents to frame their proposals under what we have identified as the seven broad pillars that we would like the Strategic Plan to address.
These pillars have been identified through a number of informal industry consultations and engagement processes. Those pillars are [listed in alphabetical order and do not indicate any preference];
  • Animal welfare
  • Governance
  • Infrastructure
  • Integrity
  • Participant welfare
  • Prize money and bonuses
  • Wagering
In developing the pillars, we also identified a variety of topics that may be considered under each of them. Details of those topics are identified here.
Receipt of submissions
The closing date for submissions is 5pm on Friday 7 July 2023.  They can be submitted either electronically to executive@hrnsw.com.au or in hard copy to 22 Meredith Street Bankstown NSW 2200 addressed to the Chief Executive Officer and marked ‘Industry Strategic Plan’.
Further Consultation
The team at HRNSW may also want to follow up some, or all, of your suggestions and ideas directly.  If that is the case, we will contact you and arrange a suitable time for that follow up.
The Next Steps
Following the receipt and review of all submissions, the Board will be holding a number of consultative meetings with the individual HRICG Members Clubs and Associations as well as other interested parties.
A draft of the Strategic Plan will then be put through a minimum of two reviews prior to its publication in late December in preparedness of the 2024 to 2026 years.
Yours in harness racing,
