Racing and Sports Menangle Mail - June 8

7 June 2024

Aardies Express (pictured) will start hot favourite for the Jason Grimson stable in the feature event on Saturday night, the Garrards Aardies Express Ladyship Stakes.

Race 1: ALLIED EXPRESS SPECIALISED LOGISTICS PACE
NO HEART THROB (8) had an excuse when beaten into third in his penultimate run and then made immediate amends from the pole position here a fortnight ago when scoring as favourite by 4 lengths. He has a tougher draw this time but is above average and should win again. STRAVINSKY (6) was out of the money two runs back at this track then improved sharply last start to score by 14 metres over 1609m at Newcastle. His confidence is back and he is the main threat to the top pick in this, if there is one. JILLIBY NITRO (7) was responsible for a better effort last time out when third over 2300m at this track. Should run a big race. BOOM (2) got back too far early on last start after being restrained at the start, He was an easy winner in a similar race to this before that and can bounce back into the money immediately.

Race 2: BESTINBEDS.COM.AU PACE
MY ULTIMATE SNOWY (10) finished fourth last start in a stronger field on this track over 2300m. He drops back in class for this and is good enough to overcome a wide gate to take this out. OUTSIDE FIGHTER (8) has been battling over the longer journeys on this track recently and is expected to improve with the drop back to a mile here. A wide draw will make it interesting but can improve sharply to take this out. VINKE B (4) has to come into calculations on the back of some strong recent form, most recently when fifth at this track over 2300m. Must be included in all combinations. AMORE INFIDA (2) was in the money two starts ago then things went amiss last start when she copped a check, broke, and finished 19 metres away in eighth over 1609m at this track. She has an upgrade in her draw and can't be underestimated in this.

Race 3: JULIE BRISBY FIVE-0 PACE
CLASSY OPERATOR (5) has gone to another level since campaigning on this circuit and his last 3 starts have all resulted in wins by using his gate speed to cross and lead early on. He bolted away when beating a similar field here a fortnight ago and should just grind his rivals into the ground again. LOUS DREAM (9) has not been able to get near the top pick in his last couple of starts and will be hoping for some luck from a wide gate. He is capable of running into the money this time. FOXY DADA (6) plugged away for fourth after leading from the pole here a week ago and may just be better when driven with cover. He is an honest gelding who is worth including in all combinations behind the top pick. HESASHORETHING (2) is making his Australian debut after some fair form this season in the Central Districts of New Zealand. They can improve sharply when crossing the Tasman and a market watch is strongly advised.

Race 4: SUMMERTIME PREMIUM POULTRY PACE
ROBBIE ROCKET (9) is heading the right way with his form and has beaten better fields than this in the past. He will cope with 2300 metres better than most and will have options from his wide gate. If he can get the right run into it before the final turn, he can have the last say. TITIAN RAIDER (6) dropped back in class last time out at Penrith but had to do a power of early work and fought on gamely to finish third. He is as tough as they come and should be right in the finish again. OUR IDEAL DREAM (2) had an excuse at Newcastle 8 days ago when breaking up during the run. He has his best draw in a while and even though this is tougher than what he has been facing, he can bounce straight back into the money. OUR UNCLE JIM (7) might have to do it the tough way again here but he will relish the step up to 2300 metres. He is likely to go back from his tricky gate but can finish strongly when saved up. Each way value.

Race 5: TAB PACE
SWAYZEE (8) made a winning return to this track after a great Inter-Dominion campaign recently at Albion Park. He gave his rivals no excuse in a similar lineup a fortnight ago and will only improve on that effort. He is one of the bets of the evening. KANENA PROVLIMA (5) made a nice return at his latest appearance a week ago, finishing 9 metres away in third over 1609m at this track. Perfectly placed here but he will be running for second. Include in all exacta bets behind the top pick. WHEREYABINBOPPIN (6) didn't do a bad job when sixth over 1609m at this track last time out. He will relish the step up to 2300 metres and in a small field, he can run into a top 3 placing. FIRE FOX (4) strips fitter second and does love it here. If he can find cover early on then he has some first-four claims.

Race 6: GARRARDS AARDIES EXPRESS LADYSHIP STAKES
AARDIES EXPRESS (5) overcame a wide gate and a tough run to win at Group 1 level here 5 weeks ago. She has been given time to get over that run and her outstanding New Zealand form has transferred beautifully to this big circuit. She meets a small field and should just be far too good again. ILLAVABUBBLES (3) was third behind the top pick in the same race last start and with the advantage of a good draw she can finish second this time. Exacta include. TAY TAY (6) gave her opponents no chance last start when she cruised to a 13 metres victory over 1609m at this track. She is drawn outside the top pick so will have to go back early and her best chance would be with a late dab to run into second. IM PRESI BELLE (4) was responsible for a better effort last time out when third over 1609m at this track. She is only running for the minors and will be doing well to finish third.

Race 7: HRNSW 3YO TROTTERS FOUNDATION FINAL
KARAKAJACK TOOTH (6) has come of age lately and is trotting full of confidence at the moment. He has a change of driver but that should not be enough to stop him from completing a hat-trick of wins. MY ULTIMATE SUNNY (3) has to be respected after winning very easily on debut and top driver Cameron Hart has opted to stick with him over the more accomplished stablemate, who is also the top pick. He is headed for the top and can take this out. MALIBUU (1) got up for a tough win last start and will secure the early run of the race from the pole position. She will be at her peak fitness and with a drag along, she can make her presence felt in this as well. MILITARY MERIT (8) has been given a freshen-up since some disappointing efforts earlier in the year. He has looked better at the trials and can run into the money here at a price.

Race 8: SUCCESS STUD SUPPORTING NSW RACING TROTTERS MOBILE
ROYAL DAN (5) made it three wins in succession at the most recent appearance, getting home by 4.5 metres over 2300m at this track. He has flourished since racing on the big circuit here and is in line to win again. CALIGULA (6) broke in the run and finished seventh, beaten 35 metres, first-up last time out over 2300m at this track. He improves quickly with racing and is too good to drop after just one bad run. Stick with him. LONDON TO A BRICK (4) broke last start and finished a long last over 2300m at this track when resuming. He looked much better at a recent trial since his inglorious display fresh-up. He is worth another chance in the small field here. SUNNY GEE (3) did a good job to finish in the minor placings two runs back then things went sour last time when he broke and finished a long way back here over 2300m. He is normally consistent and is worth including in all combinations.

BEST BETS:
Race 5 #8 SWAYZEE – practically unbeatable here over 2300m and has a great second-up record.
Race 6 #5 AARDIES EXPRESS – Group 1 winner resuming from a freshen up who will prove too tough for her rivals.
