RACE 1 – TAB LADYSHIP PACE – 2030 metres

Pre race blood samples were collected from STELLA MARIA and JEWELS STRIDE.

STELLA MARIA (P Hedges) gave ground in the final lap to finish well back.

HI CALYPSO (D Morgan) gave ground in the final lap to finish well back beaten in excess of 100 metres.  Stewards deemed the performance of the mare to be unsatisfactory and stood HI CALYPSO down until it can requalify.  Connections further informed Stewards that the mare would be spelled immediately.

SHEISWATCHING which was successful in this event was sent to be swabbed.

 

RACE 2 – TAB.COM.AU THREE YEAR OLD MAIDEN PACE – 1609 metres

Pre race blood samples were collected from MAJOR OBAHMA.

Trainer K Turner was fined $100 under Rule 210 for failing to nominate a correct driver for NO ESCAPE by the prescribed time.

FEELGOOD DOLLY (G Chapple) which was having its first race start began from barrier one on the front line was slow to muster speed at the starting point and on the approach to the first turn the filly broke stride however lost little ground.  After an inquiry where Stewards took into account it was FEELGOOD DOLLY’S first race start the filly was stood down until it can requalify.  Connections further informed Stewards that during the event that the filly displaced its near side knee boot.

The lugging pole affixed to the bridle connection on MAJOR OBAHMA (L Manzelmann) became detached in the early stages of the event.

G Bull (ULTRA BLISS) was fined $200 under Rule 156(2) for applying the whip to the gelding over the concluding stages in an unacceptable manner.

BREEZER BOY (A Bourke) which had a tendency to race greenly during the event gave ground over the concluding stages to finish well back beaten in excess of 100 metres.  At the request of connections BREEZER BOY was inspected by the club’s veterinary surgeon who reported a nasal discharge and recommended a seven day stand down period.  Connections were further informed that the gelding will be required to requalify before returning to licensed meetings.

MAJOR OBAHMA which was successful in this event was sent to be swabbed.

 

RACE 3 – HUSQVARNA PACE – 1609 metres

Pre race blood samples were collected from MITCH BRAXTON.

Driver R Morris was fined $100 under Rule 158(1) for failing to fulfil commitments on ARTISTIC COWBOY.

NASHOLI (B Elder) broke stride during the event which resulted in the gelding finishing well back.  After an inquiry where Stewards took into account recent offences in this regard NASHOLI was stood down until it can requalify on two occasions in addition to a 14 day stand down period.

NOWORRIES (B Greenwood) broke stride as the field moved towards the final turn to veer out sharply and lose valuable ground to finish well back.  Stewards deemed the race behaviour of the gelding to be unsatisfactory and stood the gelding down until it can requalify on four occasions in addition to a 28 day stand down period.

ROCKLEA STAR (G Chapple) broke stride as the field moved into the final turn to lose valuable ground to finish well back.  After an inquiry where Stewards took into account the colt’s limited race experience ROCKLEA STAR was stood down until it can requalify.

ROCKLEA STAR was re-included in the barrier draw for mobile events.

The commencement of this race was delayed approximately six minutes due to track maintenance.

 

RACE 4 – HUNTER OUTDOOR EQUIPMENT PACE – 2030 metres

Pre race blood samples were collected from DON KEE and CHRISTIAN JAZZ.

B Elder (CHRISTIAN JAZZ) was fined $50 under Rule 162(1)(h) for failing to make sufficient effort to ensure the gelding was in position at the starting point.

MIKKI BEE SHANNON (D Morris) broke stride as the field negotiated the first turn when racing mid field on the marker pegs and a warning was issued.

ALERT THE BATMAN (J Hughes) raced in restricted room as the field negotiated the final turn for a short distance.

DON KEE which was successful in this event was sent to be swabbed.

 

RACE 5 – GARRARDS HORS AND HOUND PACE – 2030 metres

Pre race blood samples were collected from ALWAYS A SECRET and WISE GODDESS NZ.

REGAL ROCK NZ (G Bull) broke stride when the start was affected to settle at the rear of the field where the gelding commenced to race fiercely obliging the driver to allow the gelding to stride where REGAL ROCK NZ raced roughly on a number of occasions during the course of the event.  A subsequent veterinary inspection failed to reveal any abnormalities.  After an inquiry where Stewards deemed the over all race behaviour of the gelding to be unsatisfactory REGAL ROCK NZ was stood down until it can requalify and for the immediate future will be drawn wide.

As a result of the abovementioned ALL STAR MAGICIAN (E Rixon) was inconvenienced as the field moved towards the final turn.

PLAIN BABY which was successful in this event was sent to be swabbed.

Trainer K Turner was fined $100 under Rule 210 for failing to nominate a correct driver on PLAIN BABY by the prescribed time.

 

RACE 6 – GROUP 1 FEEDS PACE – 1609 metres

Pre race blood samples were collected from PLATINUM PENNY.

LIGHTNING BOB (P Sellers) which was drawn in barrier one on the front line broke stride in the early stages of the score up and a warning was issued.

 

RACE 7 – NEWCASTLE TRANSPORT SPECIALISTS PACE – 1609 metres

Pre race blood samples were collected from DJANGO MACH and APOLLO THIRTEEN NZ.

PRINCE SYNTAX (E Rixon) which was drawn in barrier five on the front line was fractious in the early stages of the score up which resulted in SHANOCON NZ (L Manzelmann) to be checked which resulted in that horse being out of position at the starting point.  After an inquiry where Stewards took into account recent starting offences PRINCE SYNTAX will be excluded from the barrier draw for the immediate future.

 

RACE 8 – NEWCASTLE CITY HOLDEN PACE – 2030 metres

Pre race blood samples were collected from STORMONT STAR and JIMMY THE EDITOR NZ.

Trainer K Turner was fined $100 under Rule 210 for failing to nominate a correct driver for STORMONT STAR by the prescribed time.

STYX VIXEN NZ (G Bull) was held up for a clear run in the early stages of the run home.

KARMIC FIRE NZ (J Callaghan) was held up for a clear run over the concluding stages.

DAYS END which was successful in this event was sent to be swabbed.
