JACKOMOMDO Held up for clear running in the early stages of the home straight.

MILITARY MAN NZ – Improved three wide passing the 1200 metres until working forward to the position outside the leader near the 950 metres.

Supplementary Report – Via Zoom 03.02.2021

ROCKNLACHLAN – HRNSW Stewards concluded their inquiry regarding the reasons for Driver M Harding being dislodged from his sulky on the entry to the home straight. On review it was established that on approach to the home straight and for some distance prior to the incident, CASHWRANGS SMOKER which had been racing to the inside of ROCKNLACHAN, moved slightly wider at which time IZZY DAGG NZ moved slightly wider when positioned to its inside. It was further established that as ROCKNLACHLAN improved towards to outside of CASHWRANGS SMOKER, this was done with limited room. Prior to and at the time of the incident, Stewards were unable to find that any driver had manoeuvred their runners and having regards to the lead up to the incident, no driver was held responsible. In view of these findings Stewards noted this as a racing incident.

RACE 4 – WOLF BLASS PACE – 1609 metres

EXTERMINATE – Pre-race blood sample.

BIRDY MACH – Driver N Xuereb pleaded guilty to a charge under Rule 163(1)(a)(iii) for causing interference in that entering the first turn, he has permitted his gelding to shift down the track when not clear of SOLE AMBITION NZ and as a result that gelding was tightened and checked when taken down the track towards GLENGARRY ROSE NZ which was tightened before that mare became unbalanced and galloped which in turn tightened GROSESTAR which broke gait.  Driver N Xuereb had his licence to drive in races suspended for a period of 21 days which was ordered to commence at midnight on Friday, 8 January 2021 and to expire on Saturday, 30 January 2021 on which day he may drive.  When considering penalty Stewards took into account Mr Xuereb’s guilty plea, driving record and the circumstances attached to this incident.

WHEREYABINBOPPIN – (barrier 9) Driver C Hart was fined $50 under Rule 162(1)(j) for failing to maintain his position on the second line.  Improved three wide near the 1100 metres until working forward to gain the lead near the 900 metres.  Post-race swab sample.

HENWOOD – Had difficulty obtaining clear running in the home straight and was not fully tested.

SQUATTER SHANNON – Approaching the home straight had its sulky and its driver B Elder contacted by THE MACH ARMY which improved onto its back.  As a result, Mr Elder had moved his head backwards which made contact to THE MACH ARMY and contributed to that runner breaking stride. Although Stewards do not condone the action of Mr Elder, Stewards were mindful that THE MACH ARMY did make contact with its body and sulky and Mr Elder and Mr Elder did not leave the confines of his sulky when performing this action.  In view of the circumstances no further action was taken.

ICSPOTS – Improved three wide for a short distance rounding the first turn before obtaining the position outside the leader.
