RACE 1 – GARRARDS HORSE & HOUND PACE – 1730 metres

 

CAUSING STRIFE – Pre-race blood sample.  Failed to run on over the final 500 metres to be beaten 57 metres and finished in last position. 

BRIDGE COIN – Worked forward to obtain the lead around the 1350 metres.

DESMOND – Caught racing three wide in the early stages before being restrained to the tail of the field passing the 1300 metres.

LOTTA LAUGHS – Out of position at the start.  In view of the mare’s recent record LOTTA LAUGHS was issued its last chance in the mobile barrier draw.

SINGLE SHOT – Raced rough during the score up and as a result was out of position at the start.  In view of the gelding’s recent record SINGLE SHOT will continue to be excluded from the mobile barrier draw.

TULHURST TERROR – Post-race swab sample.

 

RACE 2 – BOURKES HORSE RUGS PACE – 1730 metres

 

SHIFTY NICOLOSI – Hung in marginally passing the 1200 metres and as a result locked wheels momentarily with GORDONS BAY.

ROAD RUNNER NZ – Raced three wide in the early stages before working forward to obtain the lead passing the 1100 metres.  Trainer/driver J Rattray was questioned in relation to the seemingly disappointing performance of the gelding when failing to run on over the concluding stages to be beaten 6.5 metres and finished in second position ($1.28 fav).  Driver J Rattray explained that he was disappointed in the run tonight however it was only the gelding’s second run back from a spell and believes that his gelding will take benefit from the run.  When questioned in relation to his decision leaving the 400 metres after releasing deafeners to improve forward Mr Rattray explained that he did not believe that ROAD RUNNER NZ had increased the tempo at that point and stated this was more that the other runners were not able to maintain their speed at that point and as a result he was able to gain some advantage over the field.  Mr Rattray explained that considering the advantage gained over the field he believed that his runner would be hard to beat however did prove disappointing over the concluding stages. 

WATTOS MATE – Pre-race blood sample. 

GORDONS BAY – Hung out and locked wheels momentarily passing the 1200 metres with SHIFTY NICOLOSI which was racing to its outside.  Post-race swab sample.

JIMMYJOE – Declared a late scratching at 1.43pm acting on veterinary advice.

 

RACE 3 – RELIANCE BANK PACE – 2260 metres

 

STANDANDELIVER – Driver O Frisby pleaded guilty to a charge under Rule 156(2)(a) in that in the home straight on the final occasion she has applied her whip to the gelding in more than a wrist only flicking motion.  Driver O Frisby was fined $200 after considering her recent offence record.

ROSCOMMON ROSE – Worked forward to obtain the lead passing the 1850 metres.

TOPSIE GRINNER – Caught racing three wide in the early stages until working forward to obtain the position outside the leader at the 1850 metres. 

WILLIEWA LIGHTNING – Over raced during the early stages.  Improved three wide from the 1400 metres until obtaining the position outside the leader passing the 1250 metres.

MAJOR BRACKEN – Post-race swab sample.

IMTHEVILLAGESTAR – Pre-race blood sample. 

LUCKY NUTTER – Improved three wide from the 1700 metres until obtaining the position outside the leader passing the 1600 metres.

 

RACE 4 – TOWN & COUNTRY RURAL SUPPLIES PACE – 2260 metres

 

LOCHIEL NZ – Tightened approaching the first turn when racing in restricted room to the inside of MYRA DAWN which was shifted down the track.  Caught racing three wide in the early stages until working forward to obtain the position outside the leader passing the 1750 metres.

MAGNIFICO TO WATCH – Pre-race blood sample. 

MYRA DAWN – Driver M Turnbull was issued a reprimand under Rule 163(1)(a)(iii) for causing interference in that approaching the first turn he has allowed MYRA DAWN to shift down the track without providing the required clearance to LOCHIEL NZ resulting in that runner being placed in restricted room.  Worked forward to obtain the lead passing the 1850 metres.  Post-race swab sample.

GABBYS SPORTSTAR – Pre-race blood sample. 

BRADNESS ELDEFUEGO – Driver T Pay was cautioned in relation to failing to have a sufficient splash sheet affixed to his sulky. Over raced throughout the event.  Failed to run on over the final 400 metres to finish in last position beaten 86 metres.  Driver T Pay explained that the gelding did not appear to be suited throughout the event whilst over racing during the slow tempo.  Mr Pay explained that it was the first run back from a long spell for the gelding and as a result he believed that the gelding would take benefit from the run. 

 

RACE 5 – CLUB MENANGLE COUNTRY SERIES FINAL – 1730 metres

 

IRVINE – Post-race swab sample.

LA LA BRON – Out of position at the start.  In view of the mare’s recent record a warning was issued.

HIDDEN DELIGHT NZ – Unable to secure clear running in the home straight on the final occasion and was not fully tested.

BOSCH NZ – Raced three wide in the early stages until working forward to obtain the position outside the leader passing the 1300 metres.

WATTLEBANK LASS NZ – Pre-race blood sample. 

JUST RALPH – Stewards delayed the all clear of this event to determine whether the gelding had been afforded a fair start after being taken back when trailing LA LA BRON which was unable to maintain its position on the mobile barrier.  After reviewing the films Stewards were satisfied that JUST RALPH was not afforded a fair start when racing in a third row position as a result of LA LA BRON not maintaining its position and therefore denied a fair start.  As a result the horse was declared a late scratching and all monies were ordered to be refunded on the gelding.

 

RACE 6 – LEXUS OF DUBBO PACE – 1730 metres

 

KELLY FROST – Slow to begin.

WHY NOT SURF – Pre-race blood sample.  Worked forward to obtain the lead passing the 1350 metres.

MATAMUA – Raced three wide in the early stages until obtaining the position outside the leader passing the 1350 metres.  Post-race swab sample.

 

RACE 7 – HARNESS TRADING RING PACE – 1730 metres

 

WATTOSBLAZEOFGLORY – Hung in and contacted the sulky of LLANFAIR RUMOURS passing the 50 metres and as a result was checked and paced roughly.  In view of the colt’s recent record WATTOSBLAZEOFGLORY was issued its last chance to race truly.  Driver W Watterson pleaded guilty to a charge under Rule 156(2)(a) for applying his whip to the colt in more than a wrist only flicking motion in the home straight on the final occasion.  Driver W Watterson was fined $200 after considering his recent offence record.

CHILLED CAPTAIN – Broke a hopple loop approaching the 750 metres and as a result was eased out of the event.  Stewards inspected the gear and found it to be of suitable quality.  In view of the circumstances no direct action was taken.

REMEMBER EVE – Caught racing three wide in the early stages until being restrained to the tail of the field passing the 1250 metres. 

LLANFAIR RUMOURS – Worked forward to obtain the lead passing the 1400 metres.  Had its sulky contacted passing the 50 metres when WATTOSBLAZEOFGLORY hung in to its outside.

MENDOZA LASS – Galloped in the score up on the first occasion resulting in driver Jack Wade raising his hand.  Upon review of the films and after taking evidence from the clerk of the course and also driver J Wade it was determined that the bit had slipped through the horse’s mouth during the score up and as a result driver J Wade had limited control.  In view of the circumstances no direct action was taken.

BLING IT UP – Pre-race blood sample. 

ROYALHOTSHOT – Worked forward to obtain the lead approaching the 1050 metres.

 

RACE 8 – GC37 FOAL NOMINATIONS DUE 31 AUG PACE – 1730 metres

 

GRACENAVA – Pre-race blood sample. 

HIGHLY RESPECTED – Held up in the home straight on the final occasion and was not fully tested.

RIPPONLEA – Worked forward to obtain the lead approaching the 1400 metres.

WILLOW – Declared a late scratching at 9.23am acting on veterinary advice.

MACH BRILLIANCE – Improved three wide from the 1100 metres until obtaining the position outside the leader passing the 850 metres.  Post-race swab sample.

BONNIE GROVE – Raced three wide in the early stages before becoming unbalanced and galloping passing the 1300 metres.  In view of the filly’s recent record a warning was issued.  The filly then pressed forward to obtain the position outside the leader passing the 1100 metres.

YES EYE SEE – Became unbalanced and galloped during the score up and as a result was out of position at the start.  In view of the filly’s recent record a warning was issued.

 

RACE 9 – HRNSW 2YO GUARANTEED 2YO FILLIES PACE – 1730 metres

 

MADAM MAGGIE – Post-race swab sample.

ARENA QUEEN – Worked forward to obtain the lead passing the 1300 metres.

ALLIYAHS HOPE – Pre-race blood sample. 

RUMBLIN – Fractious during the early stages of the score up.

 

RACE 10 – TAB VENUE MODE PACE – 1730 metres

 

PLAYBOI ROY – Hung out during the score up on the first occasion and became unbalanced and galloped and as a result caused a false start.  As this was only the gelding’s third race start PLAYBOI ROY will now be excluded from the mobile barrier draw.  Became unbalanced and galloped approaching the 150 metres whilst under pressure.  As this was only the gelding’s third race start PLAYBOI ROY was stood down until it completes one requalifying trial.

SICURAMENTE – Pre-race blood sample. 

THE DONNY – Over raced during the early stages.  Improved three wide during the middle stages until obtaining the position outside the leader passing the 1000 metres.  Stewards questioned driver N Hurst in regards to the reasons for him failing to release hopple shorteners throughout the event.  Driver N Hurst explained that during the early stages his gelding was racing keenly and he did not feel that it was safe to release the gelding’s shorteners.  Driver N Hurst further stated that once obtaining the position outside the leader passing the 1000 metres the gelding continued to over race and due to the track conditions and the way the gelding was pacing he felt it best to leave the hopple shorteners in at this point.  Stewards accepted Mr Hurst’s explanation.

THE RINGMASTER – Raced roughly approaching the 250 metres.  In view of the gelding’s recent record THE RINGMASTER was issued its last chance to race truly.
