RACE 1 – LLOWALONG FARMS PACE – 1730 metres
ROSE OF JULIANA – Held up for clear running until obtaining a run to the inside of ITZ BLACKJACK upon entering the home straight.
WILLIES DOLLAR – Pre-race swab sampled.
ITZ BLACKJACK – Hung-out under pressure leaving the 200 metres, and as a result locked wheels with SCARLET BLING. When questioned regarding the below market expectations performance of the gelding, Trainer/Driver S Hewitt stated he felt his runner was forced to go too quickly in the early stages of the race when pressured for the lead by SCARLET BLING. He added his preference at that point was to retain the lead as he is of the view the gelding is a bit one paced so wanted the race run with even sectionals, and felt if surrendered the lead to that runner may have been held up and outsprinted over the concluding stages. He further added that the gelding was only having its second race start tonight, and this was the first time it had been driven out at the start, as a result, he did have some difficulty getting it to settle into its work when the pressure eased leaving the 1000 metres. S Hewitt added that given those circumstances he wasn’t disappointed with its run, but may look to give it a spell following tonight’s tough run.
HOLY CAMP GLORIA – Broke gait free of interference approaching the 1400 metres, given it was just the gelding’s third race start connections were advised that it would be required to perform a re-qualifying trial.
LAURIE DEE – Held up for clear running until approaching the 100 metres.
ROBERTS DELIGHT – Post-race swab sampled.
MISSUS GONE – Held up for clear running until near the 100 metres, and at that point locked wheels with SCARLET BLING.
SCARLET BLING – Raced three wide from the start before working forward to take up the position outside the leader leaving the 1400 metres. Locked wheels with ITZ BLACKJACK leaving the 200 metres when that runner shifted out, a short distance later momentarily locked wheels with MISSUS GONE. Placed back in the draw for future mobile start races. Trainer/Driver D Munro was questioned regarding the tactics adopted on the filly, in particular after racing three wide in the early stages of the race and then appearing to continue to press forward in an attempt to lead when the pace of that stage of the race was quite fast. D Munro stated that his filly had trialled well recently when able to lead, so his intentions tonight were to try to lead. He added that he did pressure ITZ BLACKJACK for a short distance in the home straight from near the 1200 metres after getting to its outside, in the hope it would surrender its position, but it was apparent approaching the 1000 metres that it was not going to. He further added while his runner was up outside ITZ BLACKJACK it was travelling within itself and he was not applying any pressure to his filly to run at that pace. D Munro added that he attempted to restrain near the 1000 metres to get the position on the back of ITZ BLACKJACK but ROSE OF JULIANA beat them to that position and they were left leading the running line for the remainder of the race. He added that given they were left leading the running line, his filly tired somewhat over the concluding stages, but he was not disappointed with its effort. Given the patrol footage supported D Munro’s comments regarding his driving of the filly in the first half of the race, no action was taken.
RACE 2 – TAB LONG MAY WE PLAY PACE – 1730 metres
KULANI COURAGE – Pre-race swab sampled.
THE RINGMASTER – Caught racing three wide from the start and raced three wide without cover for the majority of the race. Trainer/Driver A Clancy was questioned regarding the tactics adopted on the gelding, he stated he intended to try to get to the position outside the leader in the early stages of the race, but was unable to muster enough speed to cross BLU MOON. He added that he felt the Driver of BLU MOON was attempting to surrender the position outside the leader to him, but it commenced to over-race when his runner improved to its outside near the 1200 metres, leaving him out three wide when his runner wouldn’t improve. He further added that following the race he noticed that his gelding’s off-side shortener failed to release which may have explained why it didn’t quicken when he was urging it to in the home straight on the first occasion. A Clancy further added that he felt restraining back to last after leaving the 1000 metres would not have been beneficial to his runner’s chances. Given the circumstances, no action was taken.
ELPINE SALLY – Caught racing three wide from the start before being restrained to take up a position in the running line at the rear of the field near the 1000 metres. Over-raced while being restrained. Post-race swab sampled.
CASH EM IN SHANNON – Placed back in the draw for future mobile start races.
RACE 3 – STU VALENTINE 4 BLOODSTOCK INS PACE – 1730 metres
MISTERHINDMARSH – Examined by the Club Veterinarian prior to the race, as it was having its first race start in over 12 months, and cleared to start. Post-race swab sampled.
JUST WON MORE – Had a tendency to over-race during the middle stages of the event.
FAIRE LA FETE – Pre-race swab sampled.
RACE 4 – ARMADA BATHURST PACE – 1730 metres
SAINT TROPEZ NZ – Unable to obtain a clear run in the home straight.
INFINITY BEACH – Had a tendency to over-race during the middle stages of the event.
HES SWEET – Post-race swab sampled.
TURBO TOMMY – Pre-race swab sampled. Sulky contacted by THE DANCER leaving the 400 metres.
BOMANI – Held up for clear running for the majority of the home straight.
THE DANCER – Hung-out leaving the 400 metres, as a result contacted the sulky wheel of TURBO TOMMY and broke gait, for which a warning was issued.
RACE 5 – BATHURST REGIONAL SECURITY PACE – 1730 metres
ROCKNROLL RANGER – Hung-out under pressure in the home straight.
AMERICAN SHUFFLE NZ – Pre-race swab sampled. Hung-out under pressure in the home straight. Driver L Green was given the opportunity to comment on the somewhat below market expectations performance of the gelding, he stated that it took a little bit longer than he would have preferred to get the gelding to settle after urging it forward in the early stages to obtain the lead. He added the gelding was inclined to hang-out at various stages throughout the race and the stable would be likely to make some gear adjustments prior to its next start in an endeavour to rectify that. He further added that he felt the gelding preformed reasonably well and he wasn’t disappointed in its effort tonight.
BEAUTIFULVENGEANCE – Trainer/Driver A Winnell was given the opportunity to comment on the seemingly improved performance of the mare, he stated that in his view it wasn’t an improved performance. He added that two starts back here at Bathurst, which was her first run back from a spell, she ran well in a race ran in quick time, and last start she had no luck at all on the smaller track at Parkes after going back at the start from the wide draw. He further added that tonight the leaders went quick early while he restrained to obtain a position with cover on the marker pegs, and they were able to obtain a run in the sprint lane upon entering the home straight with momentum when the runner behind the leader elected to shift out rounding the home turn. A Winnell added that he felt tonight’s race was also a step down in grade compared to her most recent runs. Post-race swab sampled.
RACE 6 – HYNASH CONSTRUCTIONS PACE – 1730 metres
UNCLE CRAIGO – Raced roughly under pressure near the 100 metres.
SMOOTH BON BON – Shifted-in under pressure over the concluding stages.
LULU MAE – Shifted-out under pressure over the concluding stages. Post-race swab sampled.
STEPH – Galloped out as the start was effected for which a warning was issued. Broke its off-side hopple connecting strap while galloping and was retired from the race. The hopples were inspected following the race and found to be in a condition that they would be expected to cope with the stresses of racing.
JERULA JOSIE – Had a tendency to over-race during the middle stages of the event, before tiring over the concluding stages.
FAR OUT RINGO – Pre-race swab sampled.
RACE 7 – SOHO TRIBECA @ LLOWALONG FARMS PACE – 1730 metres
WHISKIESONTHEBEACH – Pre-race swab sampled.
RED ENVY NZ – Held up for clear running for the majority of the home straight.
IM ALRITE – Post-race swab sampled.
RACE 8 – POSTER BOY @ LLOWALONG FARMS PACE – 1730 metres
THE HANDSOME ONE – Post-race swab sampled.
CHOC A BLOCK – Tightened for room when racing to the inside of CULLENS MAORI entering the first turn and contacted a number of marker pegs.
JERULAS WARRIOR – Broke gait after the start for which a warning was issued.
CULLENS MAORI – Pre-race swab sampled. Driver O Frisby was issued with a reprimand under Rule 163(1)(a)(iii) for causing interference in that entering the first turn she shifted the mare in when not sufficiently clear of CHOC A BLOCK which was tightened for room and contacted marker pegs.
REMEMBER MAC – Caught racing three wide from the start before being restrained to take up a position in the running line at the rear of the field near the 1000 metres.
SUPPLEMENTARY REPORT – PARKES HRC, 4TH DECEMBER – Race 4
WHY NOT SURF – Stewards tonight conducted an inquiry into an incident in the above race. At the inquiry Driver T Bullock pleaded guilty to a charge under Rule 163(1)(b)(i) for making another runner cover more ground prior to the point where permitted to do so in that leaving the 800 metres he shifted his runner out when not clear of WET FLIPFLOPS NZ which was forced out wider on the track and inconvenienced. In assessing penalty Stewards took into account T Bullock’s guilty plea, his relatively good driving record with regards to this rule and the particular circumstances of the incident. Driver T Bullock had his license to drive in races suspended for a period of 10 days to commence at midnight the 17th of December.
