RACE 1 – TAB VENUE MODE PACE – 2170 metres
AWESOME OLLIE NZ – Pre-race swab sampled. Commenced to lose ground from near the 600 metres. A post-race Veterinary examination revealed the gelding to have bled from both nostrils. Connections were advised that it would be stood down from racing for 3 months, that they would be required to provide a Veterinary certificate of fitness for the gelding, and it would be required to perform a re-qualifying trial prior to resuming racing.
SMOKIN POCKET – Inconvenienced behind the tiring AWESOME OLLIE NZ leaving the 600 metres.
HES A TERROR – Inconvenienced behind the tiring AWESOME OLLIE NZ leaving the 600 metres.
FUNNILY ENOUGH – Caught racing three wide from the start before being restrained to take up a position in the running line at the rear of the field near the 1800 metres.
SOULWRITER – Raced three wide from the start until working forward to obtain the position outside the leader near the 1800 metres. Worked forward to take over the lead from AWESOME OLLIE NZ near the 800 metres.
GLAMORS SYMBOL – Inconvenienced behind the tiring AWESOME OLLIE NZ leaving the 600 metres.
CRESCO GOLDIGGER – Hung-out under pressure in the home straight, for which a warning was issued. Post-race swab sampled.
RACE 2 – MARTIN TRAVEL GROUP ALBURY PACE – 1770 metres
PADDY MACH – Pre-race swab sampled.
OUR SAMS HOME – Broke gait during the score-up and a false start was declared, for which a warning was issued. Had a tendency to over-race during the middle stages of the event.
SOKYS FALCON – Raced three wide from the start before working forward to take up the position outside the leader near the 1400 metres.
POCKET LINE – Raced three wide from the start before working forward to take over the lead from PADDY MACH near the 1200 metres. Post-race swab sampled.
IMAPEST – Held up for clear running rounding the home turn.
THE DUX – Checked from the back of TARA LEEANN approaching the 1400 metres, when the pace eased, and broke gait as a result. Held up for clear running until near the 100 metres.
RACE 3 – DLG ALUMINIUM & GLAZING LADYSHIP PACE – 1770 metres
EIPPERMILL – Pre-race swab sampled. Fell in the latter part of the score-up and a false start was declared. Declared a late scratching at 7.15pm on Vet’s advice. A post-race Veterinary examination of the mare revealed it to have mild lacerations to its near side knee and off side hock. Connections were advised the mare would be placed outside the draw for future mobile start races and it would be required to perform a re-qualifying trial. Prior to the all-clear being given, Stewards announced that bets on this runner were to be refunded and successful bets placed prior to the scratching time would be subject to deductions of 10 cents in the dollar for win and place bets.
LYDIA LOVEDAY – Shifted out under pressure upon entering the home straight.
KENDYS BUTTERFLY – Broke gait after the start for which a warning was issued.
MISSKONTIKI – Examined by the Club Veterinarian after the false start, after it made contact to the sulky of the fallen EIPPERMILL, and was cleared to start. Post-race swab sampled.
AB FAB NZ – Made a three wide mid race move to take over the position outside the leader approaching the 1000 metres.
RACE 4 – BEAUREPAIRES NORTH ALBURY PACE – 1770 metres
HESASTAR – Broke gait after the start for which a warning was issued.
OUR SIR JACK – Broke gait free of interference leaving the 400 metres, for which a warning was issued.
FAVREAU – Hung out under pressure in the home straight. Post-race swab sampled.
RED TERROR NZ – Pre-race swab sampled.
HEAVENS HURRICANE – Checked after the start when HESASTAR broke gait. Inconvenienced leaving the 400 metres when OUR SIR JACK broke gait.
HAYJOSHANDCO – Stewards accepted the explanation tendered by Trainer D Farrar for the late declaration of Driver for the gelding. Raced three wide from the start before working forward to take up the position outside the leader approaching the 1200 metres.
RACE 5 – DTD ENGINEERING VALE LES ROMERO PACE – 2170 metres
SMOKIN TALLY – Examined by the Club Veterinarian prior to the race, as it has had over 200 race starts, and cleared to start. Inclined to hang-out approaching the 800 metres, Driver A Dean was advised to make more effort in similar circumstances in future to ensure her runners do not trail a wheel. Post-race swab sampled.
VIN DAN – Pre-race swab sampled.
MASTER OF ILLUSION – Tired over the concluding stages of the race.
RUN VIV RUN – Inconvenienced behind tiring runners near the 400 metres.
IM SANDY BAY – Contacted its own sulky with its off side hind leg at various stages throughout the race. Tired over the concluding stages and was beaten by a considerable margin, connections were advised the mare would be required to perform a re-qualifying trial.
RACE 6 – APCO IGA NORTH ALBURY VALE KEVIN QUINLIVAN MAIDEN PACE – 1770 metres
ILLAWONG ARGYLE – Approaching the 400 metres, appeared to contact the sulky wheel of KEEPCRACKINGJOKES and fell, dislodging Driver R Calleja, an inquiry into the reasons for the fall was adjourned until a date to be fixed when required Driver’s are able to attend. The Club Veterinarian attended to the horse and reported that the filly was deceased. A swab sample was taken. Driver R Calleja was examined by the on-course paramedics and transported to hospital for further assessment for a concussion and possible rib injury. R Calleja will be required to obtain a medical clearance prior to resuming driving. An inquiry was conducted at Albury on the 26th of July, into the incident. Driver’s R Calleja (ILLAWONG ARGYLE) and S Matson (KEEPCRACKINGJOKES) were interviewed in the inquiry. It was established that leaving the 600 metres ILLAWONG ARGYLE hung-in, and was corrected a short distance later. Approaching the 400 metres ILLAWONG ARGYLE hung-in again, and simultaneously KEEPCRACKINGJOKES hung-out slightly, resulting in ILLAWONG ARGYLE contacting the sulky wheel of KEEPCRACKINGJOKES and falling. Stewards were of the view that as there was minimal movement from both runners, no Driver or horse were to blame for the incident and noted the circumstances.
NICKY KHAN – Approaching the 400 metres, made heavy contact with the sulky of the falling ILLAWONG ARGYLE and fell, dislodging Driver T Sutherland. A post-race Veterinary examination, revealed the gelding to have a laceration above its right eye and multiple lacerations to its off-side hip and shoulder. Connections were advised that they would be required to provide a Veterinary certificate of fitness for the gelding prior to its next race start. Driver T Sutherland was examined by the on-course paramedics and transported to hospital for further assessment for a concussion and a facial injury. T Sutherland will be required to obtain a medical clearance prior to resuming driving.
SANDYS IDEAL NZ – Declared a late scratching at 2.43pm on Vet’s advice.
KEEPCRACKINGJOKES – Sulky appeared to be contacted by ILLAWONG ARGYLE approaching the 400 metres and that runner fell, an inquiry into the reasons for the fall was adjourned until a date to be fixed when required Driver’s are able to attend. TERROR OFA SAINT – Pre-race swab sampled. Approaching the 400 metres, made heavy contact with the sulky of the falling ILLAWONG ARGYLE and Driver R Gregory was dislodged from his sulky. A post-race Veterinary examination, revealed the mare to be suffering lameness in its left hind leg. Connections were advised that they would be required to provide a Veterinary certificate of fitness for the mare prior to its next race start. Driver R Gregory was examined by the on-course paramedics and treated for an injury to his knee. R Gregory will be required to obtain a medical clearance prior to resuming driving.
