RACE 1 – DOWNLOAD THE TAB APP TODAY PACE – 1758 metres

ARTIMOS – Held up over the concluding stages and was not fully tested.

COMPLICATED – Hung in rounding the final turn and contacted marker pegs.

DOCTOR BRYAN – Driver Ray White was found guilty of a charge under rule 149(2) for an unacceptable drive in that after beginning fairly and being caught in a three wide position, he had restrained the gelding towards the rear of the field and at a point passing the 1100 metres Mr White had an opportunity to restrain his gelding half a length to obtain a position in the running line for some respite.  At this stage Mr White elected to continue to race in a three wide position and moved his gelding forward.  DOCTOR BRYAN continued to race in a three wide position and when passing the 800 metres the gelding commenced to tire to eventually be beaten 82.1 metres.  In the opinion of the Stewards it was unacceptable for Mr White to continue driving forward in a three wide position when he would have been able to give the gelding some respite at the rear of the field.  In the circumstances Stewards believed this contributed to the overall performance of DOCTOR BRYAN.  Mr White had his licence to drive in races suspended for a period of four weeks which was ordered to commence at midnight 20 December 2022.  In assessing penalty Stewards considered Mr White’s driving record, the circumstances of the incident and his plea.  A post-race veterinary examination failed to reveal any obvious abnormalities.

ROLL WITH JULIETTE – Pre-race blood test.  Post-race swab.

DELIGHT TO WATCH – Pre-race blood test.  Held up in the early stages of the home straight before gaining clear running passing the 70 metres.

RACE 2 – COPRICE FEEDS PACE – 1758 metres

REDBANK HARRY – A pre and post-race veterinary examination was conducted due to the horse having competed in excesses of 200 race starts.  Both examinations failed to reveal any obvious abnormalities.

WEMAN MACHA – Pre-race blood test.  Hung in approaching the 1600 metres placing pressure on CALL ME DRAGON and TIGER CHEDDAR which were racing to the gelding’s inside.  Caught wide in the early stages of the event before being restrained to find a position in the running line passing the 1500 metres.

TIGER CHEDDAR – Tightened, contacted marker pegs and locked wheels with CALL ME DRAGON as a result of WEMAN MACHA and CALL ME DRAGON hanging in slightly passing the 1600 metres.

CALL ME DRAGON – Tightened passing the 1600 metres as a result of WEMEN MACHA hanging in and at the same point the gelding had a tendency to hang in slightly resulting in TIGER CHEDDAR being tightened and CALL ME DRAGON locked wheels with that gelding.  Commenced to improve three wide passing the 1300 metre mark before finding a position outside the leader passing the 1100 metres.

THE BLACK ASSASSIN – A pre and post-race veterinary examination was conducted due to the horse having competed in excesses of 200 race starts.  Both examinations failed to reveal any obvious abnormalities.

BEAU BROWN – Pre-race blood test.  Post-race swab.

MY MATE BERNIE – Caught wide in the early stages of the event before working forward to find a position outside the leader passing the 1150 metres.  Driver Cameron Maggs was questioned in relation to the driving tactics adopted in tonight’s event.  Of concern to the Stewards was the gelding having been driven forward in a manner which is not the usual racing pattern of MY MATE BERNIE.  Mr Maggs explained that Trainer Paul Symes had indicated that the intention of the stable was to have the gelding driven forward and after beginning fairly he had been caught in a three wide position at the rear of the field when the pace of the race eased significantly he thought it was a good opportunity to work forward and race in a forward position.  Trainer Paul Symes was also questioned in relation to the tactics given to Mr Maggs and Mr Symes indicated that the instructions for Mr Maggs were to drive the gelding in a forward position.  The inquiry has been adjourned to allow Stewards to examine wagering on the event.

WHEREYABINTWISTIN – Held up in the early stages of the home straight.

RUN BUSINESS RUN – Broke in the score up and was out of position at the start and took no competitive part in the event.  In view of the recent record of RUN BUSINESS RUN the gelding will be continued out of the draw in mobile starts.
