RACE 1 – SUPAGAS 2YO PACE – 2140 metres
GINGANING – Broke in the score up for which a warning was issued. Raced roughly rounding the first and final turn. Trainer/driver Drew Kenna was questioned in relation to his driving tactics and the overall performance of the gelding, after beginning well GINGANING was able to hold the lead until approaching the 1600 metres when Mr Kenna elected to surrender to the challenge from MAJOR SAMIR and raced behind the leader before commencing to tire passing the 500 metres being beaten 76.8 metres. Mr Kenna explained that from the good draw (barrier 1) he intended to drive the horse forward as the gelding had been working well, but felt it was best to surrendered the lead as to much pressure was being applied. Mr Kenna was disappointed in the gelding’s performance and In view of the performance of the gelding, GINGANING was stood down until it can complete one requalifying trail. A post-race veterinary examination revealed no obvious abnormalities.
RUZEK – Caught wide early before being restrained to the rear of the field passing the 1800 metres. Approaching the 400 metres hung in then hung out and contacted the sulky of THE BLACK FOX and broke gait for which a warning was issued.
THE BLACK FOX – Caught wide before being restrained to the rear of the field passing the 1400 metres. Approaching the 400 metres had its sulky contacted as a result of RUZEK hanging out.
MAJOR SAMIR – Pre-race blood test. Caught wide early before working forward to the lead passing the 1600 metres.
SHEZ A PUNTER – Over raced through the middle stages. Inconvenienced passing the 500 metres as a result of GINGANING giving ground.
JORGE STREET – Commenced to improve three wide passing the 1100 metres before finding a position outside the leader approaching the 800 metres
ALTA WILLIAM – Post-race swab.
RACE 2 – BRENDAN HEASLIP CONCRETING PACE – 2140 metres
SWEET DENIAL – Broke rounding the first turn. In view of the gelding’s recent record SWEET DENIAL will be required to perform two requalifying trials and stood down for a period of 14 days.
MISS MILA – Pre-race blood test. Broke after the start, In view filly’s recent record MISS MILA will be placed out of the draw in mobile starts.
IRISH SPEED – Commenced to tire from the 400 metres before being beaten 55.9 metres.
CHILLED CAPTAIN – Inconvenienced passing the 1700 metres as a result of MISS ARDLETHAN shifting down the track to take a position in front of CHILLED CAPTAIN. Checked passing the 1400 metres as a result of MISS ARDLETHAN and SKIP ON OVER locking wheels and raced roughly approaching the 400 metres.
OH MY LOVE NZ – Post-race swab.
SKIP ON OVER – Passing the 1400 metres hung out slightly and locked wheels with MISS ARDLETHAN.
MISS ARDLETHAN – Checked rounding the first turn as a result of SWEET DENIAL breaking gait. Driver Trent Pilon was issued a reprimand under rule 163(1)(a)(iii) for causing interference, in that he allowed the filly to shift down the track passing the 1700 metres when not fully clear of CHILLED CAPTAIN. Hung in slightly passing the 1500 metres and locked wheels with SKIP ON OVER and was checked. Raced roughly rounding the final turn.
RACE 3 – SERVICE AND REPAIRS LADYSHIP PACE – 1740 metres
MISSDEHEIR – Held up in the early stages of the home straight. Driver Mikayla Towers was issued a reprimand under rule 168(1)(a) for carelessness, in that approaching the 200 metres when looking for clear running has contacted the near side sulky wheel of NAPOLI NIGHTS and as a result MISSDEHEIR was checked and broke gait. In taking no further action Stewards were mindful that at the same time NAPOLI NIGHTS had given ground slightly and Ms Towers was restraining at the time.
IDEAL TAO – Post-race swab. Driver Tahila Johnson was cautioned for the manner in which she used the whip over the concluding stages.
VIN NUMBER – Broke in the score up and was out of position at the start and took no competitive part for which a warning was issued.
ANYONEWILLDO – Inconvenienced in the score up as a result of VIN NUMBER breaking gait.
NAPOLI NIGHTS – Pre-race blood test. Had its near side sulky wheel contacted when MISSDEHEIR was looking for clear running.
RACE 4 – AGNVET PACE – 1740 metres
CATCH THE SHARK – Pre-race blood test. Driver Rodney Blythe was fined $200 under rule 156(2)(a) for applying the whip in more than a wrist only flicking motion over the concluding stages of the event.
WARRADERRY – Had a tendency to over race throughout the event.
MY COURTELL – Post-race swab.
METAL ROCK – Broke in the score up and was out of position at the start for which a warning was issued.
RACE 5 – DOWNLOAD THE TAB APP TODAY PACE – 1740 metres
LOCH LOMOND NZ – Held up in the early stages of the home straight.
MONEYS ON MATILDA – Raced roughly shortly after the start. Raced three wide early before finding a position outside the leader passing the 1400 metres. Post-race swab.
TIGER LOU NZ – Caught wide early before being restrained to the rear of the field passing the 1150 metres.
EXCLUSIVE DANCER – Held up in the early stages of the home straight.
THE REAL ROCKETMAN NZ – Pre-race blood test. Commenced to tire passing the 400 metres to be beaten 45.4 metres. Driver Isobel Ross explained the gelding travelled well throughout the event and could offer no explanation for the performance of the gelding. Ms Ross stated that connections intended to spell the gelding, and as a result THE REAL ROCKETMAN NZ was stood down for a period of 28 days. A post-race veterinary examination revealed no obvious abnormalities.
RACE 6 – SJC CONTRACTING FINAL – 2140 metres
GLENLEDI ELVIS NZ – Pre-race blood test. Post-race swab.
CARRERA DREAM NZ – Over raced in the early stages of the event.
LIGHTNING BAY – Caught wide early before working forward to a position outside the leader at the 1850 metres. Had a tendency to hang in throughout the event.
DEE TERROR – Commenced to tire passing the 500 metres before being beaten 91.9 metres. In view of the gelding’s performance DEE TERROR was stood down until it completes one requalifying trial. A post-race veterinary examination revealed no obvious abnormalities.
BOLZANO NZ – Caught wide early before working forward to the positon outside the leader passing the 1600 metres.
LIZZADRO – Reported post-race that the gelding had broken its second carrying strap at some stage during the event.
MIAMI SURF – Commenced to tire passing the 1400 metres and was beaten 74.6 metres. The gelding was placed on its last chance to race truly.
RACE 7 – S AND C CLUB WEST WYALONG PACERS CUP – 2540 metres
SKITTLE BOMB NZ – Hung out and broke in the score up and was out of position at the start. In view of the gelding’s record SKITTLE BOMB NZ will now be excluded from mobile barrier draw.
TERRYRAMA – Post-race swab.
STRAVINSKY – Raced roughly rounding the final turn.
BLAZING HOME NZ – Pre-race blood test. Worked forward to the lead passing the 2100 metres. Driver Jackson Painting was questioned in relation to the seemingly below market expectation of BLAZING HOME NZ ($1.90 fav). Mr Painting explained the gelding was first up since March 2023 and had been working well, and was forward enough to perform well however race fitness told over the concluding stages of the event. Mr Painting explained he would further expect BLAZING HOME NZ to improve from the run.
SUGAR APPLE NZ – Stewards delayed all clear to ascertain if the gelding had been afforded a fair start. On review of the available films it was determined SUGAR APPLE NZ had been checked before the starting point as a result of SKITTLE BOMB NZ breaking gait and as a result was denied a fair start and was declared a non-runner.
BROOKLYN BRIDGE – Had a tendency to over race throughout the event.
RACE 8 – SOUTH WEST SLOPES CREDIT UNION WARATAH HEAT – 1740 metres
BERANI NZ – Broke in the score up and caused a false start. In view of the gelding’s recent record it will now be excluded from mobile barrier draws.
DRIVE TO THE BEACH – Post-race swab.
TEDDY FEELS GOOD – Pre-race blood test.
WEONA BRANACH – Over raced throughout the event.
HERE COMES BOBBY – Inconvenienced passing the 200 metres as a result of TEDDY FEELS GOOD giving ground.
