RACE 1 –HOLLINGWORTH CRANE HIRE SERVICE SERVICE TROTTERS MOBILE –1710 metres

ALDEBARAN YAHTZEE – Driver Paul Sapio was fined the sum of $50 under AHR Rule 162(1)(j) for failing to maintain his position until the start was effected. 

ONAWINGANDAPRAYER – Pre-race swab. 

RAKERO WARRIOR NZ – Broke gait clear of interference approaching the 600m. A warning was issued against the gelding racing manners. 

ROBBINMEMATES – Inconvenienced during the latter stages of the score up when  ALDEBARAN YAHTZEE  was out of position. Post-race swab.

 

RACE 2 – TOP WATER CARTERS ROB ALLPORT MEMORIAL –1710 metres 

ALLANEE – Pre-race swab. Underwent pre and post-race veterinary examinations due to the mare having not started in the preceding 12 months. Neither examination revealed any significant abnormalities. Severely checked entering the first turn when WHISKEY ROYALE  broke gait shifted outwards locking wheels with DOUBLE SAID. 

DOUBLE SAID – Severely checked entering the first turn when WHISKEY ROYALE  broke gait locking wheels with ALLANEE. Casted a plate during the event.

PEACE OF HEAVEN NZ – Pre-race swab. Hung outwards under pressure over the final 200m. Post-race swab.

THE MAYNE MARA – Severely checked entering the first turn when WHISKEY ROYALE  broke gait making heavy contact to sulky of ZINSSAR and blundering.

ALLNIGHT DANCER – Trainer Narelle McCarthy was fined the sum of $50 under AHR Rule 268A(1) for presenting the mare in gear which had not been correctly declared.

WHISKEY ROYALE – Broke gait clear of interference entering the first turn checking multiple runners to varying degrees. WHISKEY ROYALE will now be stood down from racing until trailing to the satisfaction of stewards on one (1) occasion. 

JANELLE MAY – Broke gait during the latter stages of the score up and was out of position when the start was effected. JANELLE MAY will continue to be drawn wide in future mobile start events. 

ZINSSAR – Severely checked entering the first turn when WHISKEY ROYALE  broke gait.

 

RACE 3–BENSTUD STANDARDBREDS NSW AUB FROST MEMORIAL –1710 metres 

NOVANTA RISING – Post-race swab. 

SIR KNIGHT – ($8.00) Driver Joshua Gallagher was queried into the overall performance of the gelding which finished in 8th position beaten 42.2m. Mr Gallagher attributed the performance due to the gelding being unable make up sufficient ground in a quick final half of 55.7 seconds. A post-race veterinary examination failed to reveal any abnormalities. 

WHEN TO FOLDEM – Pre-race swab. Driver Taylah Osmond was fined the sum of $50 under AHR Rule 162(1)(j) for failing to maintain her position until the start was effected.

 

RACE 4– GOULBURN HAY SUPPLIES PACE – 1710 metres

THE MALDIVES – Pre-race swab. Underwent pre and post-race veterinary examinations due to the gelding having started in excess of 200 races attaining the age of 13 years. Neither examination revealed any significant abnormalities.  

SAINT BANYULA – Post-race swab.

MONTEFIORE NZ – Broke gait during the early stages of the event and was out of position when the start was effected. MONTEFIORE NZ will now be excluded from the barrier draw in future mobile start event. Driver Chloe Formosa was queried into the overall performance of the gelding which finished in 9th and last position beaten 29.4m after improving to race outside the leader from the 800m. Ms Formosa advised after breaking gait during the score up she had to make use of the gelding to be in position prior to the start. Ms Formosa explained MONTEFIORE NZ failed to settle during the event thereafter and over raced during the event despite her efforts which Ms Formosa contributed the main factor to the overall performance of MONTEFIORE NZ. A post-race veterinary examination failed to reveal any abnormalities. 

RUM DELIGHT NZ – Underwent pre and post-race veterinary examinations due to the gelding having started in excess of 200 races. Neither examination revealed any significant abnormalities.  

 

RACE 5 – THE TAB APP WALLA WALLA STAKES – 2240 metre 

SAILOR GIRL – Pre-race swab. Inconvenienced passing the 800m when OLD LUKE NZ  commenced to give ground. 

HEZ DUSTY – Raced roughly under pressure passing the 200m. 

OLD LUKE NZ – ($23.00) Driver Isobel Ross queried into the overall performance of the gelding which finished in 6th position beaten 38.7m after leading. Ms Ross advised through recording a quicker than average lead time OLD LUKE NZ was able to obtain an easy first quarter in 31.5 seconds as the gelding is best driven when able to stride freely in its races. Ms Ross explained OLD LUKE NZ was placed under pressure from the 1000m prior to give ground at the 800m which felt the gelding failed to race in a genuine manner, as OLD LUKE NZ had performed in a similar manner at its most recent start at Bathurst 30th March 2024. Ms Ross advised connections would reassess the racing future of the gelding in the ensuring days. A post-race veterinary examination failed to reveal any abnormalities.

RACE 6 – SEIB RACING PACE – 1710 metre 

General:  Shortly after the start was effected, the fall siren was activated when WATCH THE GREAT ONE NZ  (Seaton Grima) &  BEER MONEY (Harrison Ross) both fell resulting in both  drivers being  dislodged from their sulkies. BEER MONEY continued on driverless for some distance prior to being captured by the clerk of the course. Whilst BEER MONEY was driverless it startled LETTUCE NIPYA which reared and dislodge its driver Brad Hewitt and it continued on driverless for a considerable distance prior to being captured by on course track attendants.  

Driver  Seaton Grima was examined by on course paramedics which revealed abrasions to his right & left shoulders, however no other injuries were identified. Mr Grima was stood down from his remaining engagements and will required a medical clearance prior to driving again. 

Driver  Harrison Ross was examined by on course paramedics which reveal Mr Ross experiencing pain in the right wrist & elbow. Mr Ross has subsequently advised that x-rays have revealed him to have a suffered a fractured elbow. Mr Ross was stood down from his remaining engagements and will required a medical clearance prior to driving again.   

Driver Brad Hewitt was examined by on course paramedics and was cleared of any injuries and passed fit to carry out his remaining engagements.

WATCH THE GREAT ONE NZ, BEER MONEY & LETTUCE NIPYA were all declared late scratching at 3:45pm by order of stewards. 

As WATCH THE GREAT ONE NZBEER MONEY, LETTUCE NIPYA & ICE BLASTER  were withdrawn by Stewards at 3:45pm & 4:18pm Stewards ordered in consultation with the on course bookmarker that all successful wagers, be subject to the following deductions be in line with the national totalisator.

-         33c in the Win

-         26c in the Place 

The start of this event was rescheduled back one timeslot to start at 4:21pm.

ICE BLASTER – Underwent a pre-race veterinarian examination passed fit to start.  Following it’s preliminary at the rerun reared and fell to the track. ICE BLASTER was declared at late scratching by order of stewards at 4:18pm. A veterinary examination failed to reveal any abnormalities.

RIPSTONE SNORTER – Underwent a pre-race veterinarian examination passed fit to start. 

WATCH THE GREAT ONE NZ – Broke gait shortly after the start was effected and fell to the track dislodging driver Seaton Grima & BEER MONEY (Harrison Ross) making heavy contact and falling. Fall siren activated and race ceased. A veterinary examination revealed the gelding to have multiple superficial abrasions to its knees and the upper head region.

 WATCH THE GREAT ONE NZ will now be stood down pending a veterinary clearance WATCH THE GREAT ONE NZ will also be excluded from the barrier draw in future mobile start event and require to trial to the satisfaction of stewards on one (1) occasion. 

ALABAMA LIONESS – Underwent a pre-race veterinarian examination passed fit to start. 

GO AWAY AGAIN – Trainer Rickie Alchin was fined the sum of $50 under AHR Rule 268A(1) for presenting the entire in gear which had not been correctly declared. Underwent a pre-race veterinarian examination passed fit to start.  Post-race swab

BEER MONEY – Shortly after the start was effected made heavy contact to WATCH THE GREAT ONE NZ which fell dislodging its driver Harrison Ross. Continued on driverless for some distance prior to being captured by the clerk of the course. A veterinary examination revealed BEER MONEY to have sustained no significant injury, however due to falling heavily will now be stood down pending a veterinary clearance.  

CHASIN BETTER DAYS – Tightened for racing room as the start was effected & galloped out at the first attempt. Stewards refrained taking any action against the gelding due to movement from runners drawn inside CHASIN BETTER DAYS. Underwent a pre-race veterinarian examination passed fit to start. 

LETTUCE NIPYA – Startled by the driverless  BEER MONEY  after the fall siren was activated rearing and dislodging its driver Brad Hewitt continued on driverless for a considerable distance prior to being captured. A veterinary examination failed to reveal any abnormalities. 

HEAVENLY REASON – Underwent a pre-race veterinarian examination passed fit to start.  

BO DUKE NZ– Pre-race swab. Underwent a pre-race veterinarian examination passed fit to start.  Raced fiercely throughout the event despite the drivers efforts.  

 

RACE 7 – GOULBURN SOLDIERS CLUB TOM AND ANGELA HEWITT MEMORIAL – 2240 metre 

General: The start of this event was rescheduled back one timeslot to start at 4:51pm.  

MINOS NZ – Driver Joshua Gallagher was issued a reprimand under AHR Rule 163(1)(b)(i) for shifting ground passing the 1400m which momentarily inconvenienced MILLWOOD BLISS NZ which was improving three (3) wide at speed and raced roughly.

ITZMINEONTHELINE – Pre-race swab Ashleigh Delosa was approved by stewards as the late driver change due to Seaton Grima being stood down on medical advice. Post-race swab. 

DONEGAL LUTHER NZ– Jostled with  RYANS GANGSTER  passing the 700m and subsequently was checked & broke gait. Pulled up and failed to finish. 

MILLWOOD BLISS NZ – Pre-race swab. Inconvenienced & raced roughly momentarily passing the 1400m when MINOS NZ  shifted outwards. 

BAXTER RED – James Locke was approved by stewards as the late driver change due to Harrison Ross being stood down on medical advice. Began badly as the start was effected. A warning was issued against the gelding barrier manners. 

RYANS GANGSTER – Driver Jason Hewitt was found guilty of a charge under AHR Rule 163(1)(a)(iii) the particulars of the charge passing the 700m when shifting from a marker line position into a running line position he continually jostled with DONEGAL LUTHER NZ resulting in that runner being checked and breaking gait and ultimately causing his own runner to break gait checking CARLO GAMBINO NZ. In assessing penalty Stewards considered the relevant factors as outlined within the HRNSW Penalty Guidelines, Mr Hewitt overall driving recorded over an extended period with his last offence in August 2020 (538 drives)the degree of interference which was assessed in the mid-range. Stewards accordingly imposed a seven (7) day suspension of his license to drive in races which was ordered to commence at midnight on 30th April 2024 

CARLO GAMBINO NZ – Checked passing the 700m when RYANS GANGSTER & DONEGAL LUTHER NZ broke gait.

 

RACE 8 – ASPIRE TRAFFIC OFFENDER COURSE PACE – 1710 metre 

General: The start of this event was rescheduled to start at 5:10pm.   

MICK DANGER – Bernie Hewitt was approved by stewards as the late driver change due to Harrison Ross being stood down on medical advice. 

WHATABOYJACK – Pre-race swab & Post-race swab. 

BULLY BOURNE – James Locke was approved by stewards as the late driver change due to Seaton Grima being stood down on medical advice
