RACE 1 – BARKERS BUTCHERY LADYSHIP PACE – 1730 metres

BLAZIN CHIMES – Post-race swab sample.

LILYS REASON – Checked and broke stride shortly after the start when racing tight between ALTRUISTIC FRAN, which hung in and shifted in marginally and TULHURST SMOOCHER which hung out and shifted out despite the efforts of its driver when not quite clear.

LAYLA SHANNON – Hung out during the score up, was difficult to drive and could not maintain its position at the start. Connections were advised a warning would be placed on the mare’s racing record. Hung in over the concluding stages and was difficult to drive.

MILLWOOD GRACE NZ – Pre-race blood sample.

 

RACE 2 – RELAINCE PACE – 1730 metres

HOOKED ON WINNING NZ – Driver J Turnbull was cautioned in relation to the manner in which he applied the whip over the concluding stages.

TAKE OUT – Post-race swab sample.

FIFTY THREE STARS – Pre-race blood sample.

JOES REDEMTION – Pulled hard during the middle stages and would not settle.

 

RACE 3 – BOURKES HORSE RUGS PACE – 1730 metres

ORANGE FEVER – Checked and broke stride shortly after the start when momentarily crowded by TULHURST PEBBLES which hung in and shifted in when not clear, despite the efforts of its driver.

HALL MOST AN ANGEL – Driver N Turnbull was cautioned in relation to the manner in which he applied the whip in the home straight.

MAGIC TULHURST – Pre-race blood sample.

UNREAL FEELING – Trainer/Driver Mr N Hurst was cautioned in relation to the manner in which he applied the whip in the home straight. Post-race swab sample.

WARRAWEE FLYER – Broke stride and galloped during the score up. Trainer/Driver Mr M Rue was advised a warning would be placed on the mare’s racing record.

THE DANCER – Trainer Mr K Winnell was fined $100 under Rule 273(6)(a), for presenting the gelding to the parade enclosure with the incorrect saddlecloth number.

 

RACE 4 – BLINDS BY DESIGN PACE – 1730 metres

TAPAGANOOSH –Pre-race blood sample.

MAMMALS HEART – Weakened noticeably inside the 500 metres after traveling comfortably in a forward position with cover. A post-race veterinary examination revealed the filly displayed a slow recovery and had a slight nasal discharge from both nostrils. Trainer/Driver Mr B Hewitt said MAMMALS HEART would be spelled.

ALWAYSBMYPONY – Post-race swab sample.

WATCHMEDAZZLE – When questioned in relation to the tactics and overall performance, Driver J Turnbull explained that after being driven with purpose in the early stages from the wide barrier to establish the lead, when he attempted to restrain the gelding to a suitable mid race tempo it took charge of him and bolted. He said that he was unable to drive with any restraint until inside the 600m which resulted in WATCHMEDAZZLE weakening over the concluding stages. Trainer Mr N Turnbull said that he would experiment with gear during track work to enable the gelding to race more tractably.

 

RACE 5 – EQUISSAGE PACE – 1730 metres

SHANNONSIDEAL – Broke stride free of any external factors entering the home straight on the first occasion and galloped. Connections were advised a warning would be placed on the mare’s racing record. Sustained a laceration to its off foreleg during the event and was treated on course by the club’s veterinary officer. Connections were advised a stand down period of 7 days would be applied and prior to racing again SHANNONSIDEAL must undergo a veterinary examination to determine its fitness.

A DUSTY DANCE – Broke stride during the score up and galloped for a short distance. Trainer/Driver Mr Mark Hewitt was advised the provision of last chance in the mobile draw would be placed on the mare’s racing record. When questioned in relation to the performance, Mr Hewitt explained that after being forced to drive with urgency during the score up to obtain its required position at the start A DUSTY DANCE over raced for some distance in the early stages. He said that as this was only the mare’s second start in this preparation her fitness levels were not conducive to maintaining an effective effort given the mannerisms displayed tonight. He said that he would monitor recovery prior to making a decision on a future racing program. A post-race veterinary examination revealed the mare displayed a slow recovery rate.

PACING HOPE NZ – Had to be steadied for some distance inside the 500 metres when racing behind A DUSTY DANCE which was weakening. Approaching the 400 metres had to be shifted out to go forward.

GIRLS ARE BEST NZ – Raced roughly for a short distance under pressure inside the 100 metres.

VAMOS – Raced in restricted room approaching and rounding the home turn then had to be shifted in passing the 100 metres in search of clear running and went to the finish without being fully tested.

KOWHAI BLAZE NZ – Following required satisfactory performance, Trainer/Driver Mr N Turnbull was advised the mare would now be eligible to take its place in the mobile barrier draw.

LETTYS REASON – Post-race swab sample.

OURSWEETPOG – Pre-race blood sample. Broke stride free of any external factors shortly after the start and galloped for some distance. Trainer/Driver Mr M Rue was advised a warning would be placed on the mare’s racing record.

 

RACE 6 – BATHURST PANTHERS 3YO PACE – 1730 metres

OUR AUNTY PENNY – After refusing to score up on two occasions and causing false starts the filly was scratched at 7.42pm. Connections were advised OUR AUNTY PENNY would now be placed outside the mobile barrier draw and prior to racing again must perform tractably in a qualifying trial.

SOUTHERN SCARLET – Pre-race blood sample.

AUNTY JAMIE – Passed required pre-race veterinary examination.

YA RACIN ARLO – Raced greenly when placed under pressure inside the 200 metres.

BOULEVARDOFDREAMS – Post-race swab sample.

 

RACE 7 – MOOREHEAD CRANE PACE – 1730 metres

DYNAMITE DEE – Pre-race blood sample. Weakened noticeably inside the 600 metres and despite the efforts of its driver tailed the field. A post-race veterinary examination revealed a poor recovery rate. Connections were advised that prior to racing again DYNAMITE DEE must perform competitively in an official qualifying trial.

SIR JUJON – When questioned in relation to the performance, Trainer/Driver Mr N Turnbull explained it was his intention to lead if possible and after being unable to achieve this SIR JUJON raced in a forward position without cover. He said that this was unsuitable and the gelding over raced for some distance, then was unresponsive when placed under pressure inside the 400m. He said that he intended to attempt to place SIR JUJON in more suitable grade races at other venues. A post-race veterinary examination failed to reveal any abnormalities.

JOSEY MINT – Trainer/Driver Mr P Wood was fined $50 under Rule 162(1)(h) for failing to drive the mare into position at the start.

THE RINGMASTER – Passed required pre-race veterinary examination. Trainer/Driver Mr A Clancy was cautioned in relation to the manner that he applied the whip in the early part of the home straight.

 

RACE 8 – THE TAB APP PACE – 2260 metres

BRIDGE ON FIRE - Passed required pre-race veterinary examination. Trainer/Driver Mr B Hewitt was fined $100 under Rule 162(1)(y), for failing to adhere to the mandated sectional time requirements for the first half of the last mile.

ABERCROMBIE LIMBO – Trainer/Driver Mr J Betts was cautioned in relation to the manner that he applied the whip over the concluding stages.

IRK MCGLURK – Pulled hard during the early stages then weakened inside the 500 metres despite the efforts of its driver. A post-race veterinary examination revealed the gelding displayed a slow recovery rate. Connections were advised that prior to racing again IRK MCGLURK must perform competitively in an official qualifying trial.

LETSTACOBOUTIT – Driver T Pay was reprimanded under Rule 168(1)(a), for allowing the gelding to shift out rounding the home turn when going forward and moving into the path of BARBARADAWNSHANNON resulting in sulky contact between the two and LETSTACOBOUTIT racing roughly for a short distance.

NEVERTOOLATE – Post-race swab sample.

BARBARADAWNSHANNON – Following required satisfactory performance, connections were advised the mare would now be eligible to take its place in the mobile barrier draw.
