LYNNSANITY – Stewards questioned driver Klayton Bigeni regarding the tactics he adopted on the gelding over the final 400 metres of the event, in particular his decision to remain on the marker pegs between the 400 metres and the 200 metres rather than looking to shift WINGMAN LOU driven by David Morris wider on the track. Mr Bigeni advised Stewards that LYNNSANITY was off the bit during the fast third quarter and as a result he was having to chase the gelding rounding the bend and at that stage despite having an advantage over WINGMAN LOU he felt it was not in the best interests of the gelding to come wider at that point of the event. Mr Bigeni further explained that he was momentarily held up passing the 200 metres when he raced up onto the back of TE QUIRO however at that stage he had lost the advantage over Mr Morris and given Mr Morris had other runners which had improved to his outside made shifting Mr Morris at that stage problematic. After considering the explanation provided by Mr Bigeni Stewards determined to not his comments.

BARA RILEY – Pre-race blood sample. Held up in the early stages of the home straight before gaining clear running passing the 100 metres. Stewards opened an inquiry into the reasons for BARA RILEY contacting a marker peg after the finishing line and blundering. After taking evidence from driver Joshua Gallagher and Jack Callaghan the driver of PLAYFUL MISS Stewards determined that into the run to the finish BARA RILEY was improving to the inside of PLAYFUL MISS however as the runners entered the turn PLAYFUL MISS had shifted down the track marginally and BARA RILEY had also shifted down the track away from PLAYFUL MISS in preparation for the turn and as a result jumped a marker peg and blundered. After considering the evidence and further review of the films, Stewards were satisfied that no sole driver could be blamed for the incident and determined to take no further action. A post-race veterinary examination of the BARA RILEY failed to reveal any obvious abnormalities.
