RACE 1 – BERTOLIS ALBURY LADYSHIP PACE – 1770 metres

 

NIVEKALON PUNTA – Broke gait free of interference leaving the 1600 metres, for which a warning was issued.

ASHFORD SHARK – Pre-race swab sampled. Made a three wide mid race move to take over the position outside the leader leaving the 1000 metres. Driver T Gilligan was questioned regarding him raising his hand in the early part of the score-up before bringing it back down and continuing on to fill his position at the start. He stated that as the score-up started his right footrest peg became undone and he initially thought it was going to be a safety issue, however he was able to still place his foot on what was remaining and felt he would be able to continue safely so did so. Given the circumstances no action was taken.

FOXYONTHERUN – Post-race swab sampled.

 

RACE 2 – WELCOME NEW COMMITTEE AHRC PACE – 1770 metres

 

TASSIE SAFARI – Driver M Towers was issued with a reprimand under Rule 163(1)(a)(iii) for causing interference in that leaving the 400 metres she shifted the mare out when not sufficiently clear of THANK YOU SAUL which was inconvenienced.

KING KULAFU – Broke gait after the start, given the gelding’s record connections were advised that it would be placed outside the draw for future mobile start races.

THANK YOU SAUL – Checked after the start when KING KULAFU broke gait. Made a three wide mid race move to take over the position outside the leader approaching the 800 metres. Inconvenienced leaving the 400 metres when TASSIE SAFARI shifted-out.

SMILE WITH A GRIN – Pre-race swab sampled. Inconvenienced after the start when KING KULAFU broke gait.

BLUES TERROR – Shifted out under pressure in the home straight. Driver A Dean was issued with a reprimand under Rule 162(1)(www)(b) for not making sufficient effort to prevent her runner from shifting out in the home straight, as a result TASSIE SAFARI was taken wider. Post-race swab sampled.

ALISKI – Raced three wide in the early stages before working forward to take over the lead from TASSIE SAFARI near the 1200 metres.

 

RACE 3 – MATT THE PAINTER PACE – 1770 metres

 

OHHEMMJAY CRESCO – Raced roughly rounding the first turn.

ALL SO SASSY – Post-race swab sampled.

WONGALEA MEG – Pre-race swab sampled. Held up for clear running over the concluding stages of the race.

TESTARUDO – Held up for clear running for the majority of the home straight.

 

RACE 4 – TAB VENUE MODE PACE – 1770 metres

 

ROLL THE ACES – Hung-in and contacted a marker peg near the 200 metres.

RAGING ON NZ – Raced three wide from the start before working forward to take up the position outside the leader near the 1400 metres.

SHEZ BETTORS BABE – Raced three wide from the start before being restrained to take up a position on the marker pegs at the rear of the field approaching the 600 metres.

OUR ROCKY – Hung-out under pressure in the home straight.

UPRIGHT – Pre-race swab sampled.

OLE CHESTER – Made a three wide mid race move to take over the position outside the leader leaving the 1200 metres. Post-race swab sampled.

 

RACE 5 – SS&A ALBURY PACE – 2170 metres

 

HELLO I TEA – Broke gait free of interference near the 1200 metres, for which a warning was issued. Driver G Lee was spoken to advisedly about the speed he set while leading and then asking the gelding to quicken suddenly when challenged for the lead which may have contributed to it breaking gait. Taken up the track in the home straight, when WOODLEA DIEGO NZ hung-out.

SLIPPIN THE LIFE – Driver R Coelli was issued with a reprimand under Rule 163(1)(a)(iii) for causing interference in that near the 400 metres he shifted the gelding out when not sufficiently clear of ABRAHAM which was inconvenienced. Sulky wheel contacted by WALLY BLASTER near the 50 metres. Post-race swab sampled.

WALLY BLASTER – Hung-in rounding the home turn. Contacted the sulky wheel of SLIPPIN THE LIFE near the 50 metres, when taken up to that runner by HELLO I TEA which was taken wider in the home straight as a result of WOODLEA DIEGO NZ shifting up the track, and was checked and broke gait.

ABRAHAM – Raced roughly near the 400 metres. A short distance later was inconvenienced when SLIPPIN THE LIFE shifted out.

WOODLEA DIEGO NZ – Pre-race swab sampled. Made a three wide mid race move to take over the lead from HELLO I TEA near the 1200 metres. Hung-out under pressure in the home straight, taking HELLO I TEA wider on the track, resulting in WALLY BLASTER being tightened for room between that runner and SLIPPIN THE LIFE. At a subsequent inquiry, Driver J Scott pleaded guilty to a charge under Rule 163(1)(a)(iii) for causing interference, in that in the home straight he made insufficient effort to prevent the gelding from shifting out, taking HELLO I TEA up the track, and as a result WALLY BLASTER was tightened and contacted the sulky wheel of SLIPPIN THE LIFE and was checked and broke gait near the 50 metres. In assessing penalty, Stewards took into account J Scott’s guilty plea, his good driving record with regards to this rule and the particular circumstances of the incident. Driver J Scott had his license to drive in races suspended for a period of 7 days to commence at midnight the 1st of October.

 

RACE 6 – ALBURY WODONGA KITCHENS PACE – 1770 metres

 

HILLY – Examined by the Club Veterinarian prior to the race, as it has had over 200 race starts, and cleared to start. Driver R Strong was issued with a reprimand under Rule 163(1)(a)(iii) for causing interference in that rounding the first turn he shifted the gelding in when not clear of NO MORE PROMISES which was tightened for room.

CAMNAT – Pre-race swab sampled.

LIFE GETS BETTER – Made a three wide mid race move to take over the position outside the leader leaving the 1200 metres. Post-race swab sampled.

NO MORE PROMISES – Tightened for room rounding the first turn between EYES FOR DOLLARS and HILLY which shifted in.

 

RACE 7 – LIONS CLUB OF LAVINGTON PACE – 2170 metres

 

TINNYSMEDAD – Held up for clear running until near the 100 metres.

I AM THE TORNADO – Post-race swab sampled.

SURFING GIDGET – Hung-in and broke gait leaving the 400 metres, given the mare’s record connections were advised that it would be required to perform a re-qualifying trial.

REASON TO LAUGH – Pre-race swab sampled. Raced three wide from the start before working forward to take up the position outside the leader near the 1800 metres.

MY ULTIMATE BRUNO – Made a three wide mid race move to take over the lead from HARVEY HUGHES NZ near the 1600 metres. Driver J Painting was fined $100 under Rule 162(1)(y) for failing to adhere to the minimum sectional time requirements for the first half of the last mile while leading.
