RACE 1 – STUART VALENTINE BLOODSTOCK INSURANCE LADYSHIP PACE – 1730 metres

ALWAYS ADORNED – Inconvenienced at the 800 metres when the pace on the marker line eased.  Had a tendency to over race throughout the event.

BLAZIN CHIMES – Broke stride in the latter stages of the score up causing a false start.  A warning was issued.  Driver G Simpson was found guilty of a charge under rule 163(1)(b)(i) in that when approaching the 800 metres has shifted his runner wider on the track and as a result GET UP BETTY was forced to race wider than necessary prior to the designated push out pole.  In assessing penalty Stewards took into consideration the racing manners of BLAZING CHIMES and Mr Simpson’s record in relation to this rule with his licence to drive in races being suspended for a period of seven days.  This suspension is to commence midnight Wednesday, 22 January 2025.

BETTING STAR – Pre-race blood.  Broke stride shortly after the start.  A warning was issued.  Driver L Green stated after breaking stride shortly after the start raced fiercely to catch the tail of the field and when doing so continued to over race throughout the event.  He further added with the fast tempo of the race and the racing manners of BETTING STAR when placed under pressure over the final 400 metres failed to respond.  A post-race veterinary examination failed to reveal any abnormalities.

GET UP BETTY – Approaching the 800 metres was forced to cover more ground than necessary prior to the designated push out pole when BLAZIN CHIMES had shifted out.

LUCKY PUNT – Post-race swab.

RACE 2 – IAN MUTTON MEMORIAL – 1730 metres

THE HEATS ON LEXY – An inquiry was opened into the reason the filly broke stride when approaching the 1200 metres.  After taking evidence from driver B Hewitt and driver N Day (MAGIC CAPTAIN) and viewing the available race day footage it was assessed when MAGIC CAPTAIN shifted from the marker line approaching the 1200 metres he had done so with sufficient clearance of THE HEATS ON LEXY, when making that shift the pace in the race had eased and as a result MAGIC CAPTAIN was eased with THE HEATS ON LEXY improving onto the sulky wheel and contacting that runner’s wheel and breaking stride.  As no one horse or driver could solely be to blame for this incident no further action was taken.

LIVE VANCE – Checked and raced roughly at the 1200 metres when trailing THE HEATS ON LEXY who had broke stride.  Furthermore CALM FRANCO who was trailing LIVE VANCE contacted the sulky wheel and as a result sustained a flat tyre.  Driver J O’Shea was questioned on his perceived lack of vigour in the home straight on the final occasion.  He stated after suffering a flat tyre around the 1200 metres he did place some pressure on the mare at the top of the home straight on the final occasion believing the mare was doing her best with a damaged wheel.  Mr O’Shea was advised although having a flat tyre his requirements are to drive his runner fully to the line to leave no question in Stewards minds.

BAM BAM BROOK – Post-race swab.

CALM FRANCO – Approaching the 1200 metres was checked and raced roughly after contacting the sulky wheel of LIVE VANCE when the runners in advance had also been checked.

ONEOFMANY – Inconvenienced at the 1200 metres when improving onto the back of CALM FRANCO
