RACE 1 – TAB VENUE MODE PACE – 1720 metres

LYNNSANITY – Pre-race blood sample. Post-race swab sample.

DILETTO – Held up at various stages inside the final 200 metres most notably approaching the final 50 metres.

BETTING STAR – Driver Lucy Hansen was reminded her obligations to come to the mobile barrier in the correct position. In not taking more severe action against Miss Hansen, Stewards were mindful of her inexperience. Severely checked approaching the 800 metres when AGIFTFROMTHEANGELS hung in resulting in AGIFTFROMTHEANGELS and BETTING STAR locking wheels and shortly after, Brian Portelli driver of AGIFTFROMTHEANGELS, was dislodged from the sulky as AGIFTFROMTHEANGELS fell. A post-race veterinary examination of BETTING STAR failed to reveal any significant findings.

WEAREALLALONE – Over raced during the middle stages. Checked approaching the 800 metres when AGIFTFROMTHEANGELS and BETTING STAR locked wheels.

SATELLITE SIMBA – Galloped out and a warning was issued.

AGIFTFROMTHEANGELS – Commenced to hang in passing the 900 metres and shortly after AGIFTFROMTHEANGELS locked wheels with BETTING STAR resulting in AGIFTFROMTHEANGELS falling and its driver (B Portelli) being dislodged from the sulky. A post-race veterinary examination of AGIFTFROMTHEANGELS failed to reveal any significant findings. Mr Portelli subsequently underwent an examination by the oncourse ambulance officials and was cleared to fulfill his remaining engagements. Connections were advised AGIFTFROMTHEANGELS would be required to trial to the satisfaction of Stewards prior to racing again.

 

RACE 2 – ROCKING FOR JAY & WILLIAM @ CLUB PACEWAY MAR 8 PACE – 2125 metres

WEONA SIR VIVOR – Post-race swab sample.

HOLD ONTO YA BLING – Tired over the concluding stages to be beaten in excess of 43 metres and finished in 10th place. A post-race veterinary examination of HOLD ONTO YA BLING failed to reveal any significant findings.

RIPSTONE SNORTER – Pre-race blood sample.

BO DUKE NZ – Broke during the early stages of the score up and a warning was issued.

 

RACE 3 – HAPPY 60TH BIRTHDAY MICK H PACE – 1720 metres

MACH QUILLAN NZ – Pre-race blood sample. Driver Chris Geary was questioned regarding the performance of the gelding which finished 9th and last placing beaten 29 metres ($3.40). Mr Geary explained MACH QUILLAN NZ was having its first start for the stable and he had been informed the gelding had trialled reasonably well leading into tonight’s event, however he felt MACH QUILLAN NZ over racing during the early stages told on the gelding thereafter. A post-race veterinary examination of MACH QUILLAN NZ failed to reveal any significant findings. A warning was issued.

PORT AU PRINCE NZ – Checked passing the 400 metres when held up behind MACH QUILLAN NZ which commenced to give ground and was further held up rounding the home turn and in the early part of the straight.

DAN FERNANDO NZ – Underwent pre and post-race veterinary examinations due to the gelding having started in more than 200 races. These examinations did not reveal any significant findings.

FRANCO TIGER NZ – Post-race swab sample.

 

RACE 4 – AUSSIE NIGHT MARKETS @ PENRITH SHOWGROUND MAR 9 PACE – 1720 metres

PELIGROSO – Held up inside the final 100 metres.

FREEASABYRD – Pre-race blood sample. Driver Bailey McDonough was questioned regarding the performance of the mare which finished in 10th and last placing beaten 28 metres ($5.50). Mr McDonough explained the mare struck its knee rounding each turn which he felt may have been a contributing factor to the mare commencing to give ground from the 600 metres onwards. A post-race veterinary examination of FREEASABYRD failed to reveal any significant findings.

OUR UNCLE JIM – Contacted marker pegs approaching the 100 metres when attempting a narrow run to the inside of SURF ACE and was immediately restrained by its driver and remained held up to the finish.

ONE FOR THE RODI – Post-race swab sample.

 

RACE 5 – PENRITH CARNIVAL OF CUPS MAR 15 BOOK NOW GO GIRLFRIEND HEAT – 1720 metres

STELLINA – Pre-race warm up. Broke as the start was effected resulting in CRACKABRIE NZ which was drawn behind being checked. A warning was placed on the record of STELLINA.

OZZIE JOYBELL – Post-race swab sample.

EYEKNOW – Hung out passing the 800 metres. Held up inside the final 200 metres.

ROCKIN GEMMA – Pre-race blood sample.

BELLA DANZA – Re-included into the mobile barrier draw.

 

RACE 6 – PENRITH MAZDA THREE YEAR OLD PACE – 1720 metres

GO TESS GO – Broke clear of interference passing the 900 metres resulting in GET US A TINNY which was following being checked and breaking gait. A warning was placed on the record of GO TESS GO.

GET US A TINNY – Checked and broke passing the 800 metres as a result of GO TESS GO breaking gait.

DYNAMITES BEST – Tightened and paced roughly approaching the 300 metres after improving into a narrow run between JIVE MASTER and BLISSES BEST.

BLISSES BEST – Driver Chris Geary was questioned regarding the performance of the filly which finished in 7th placing beaten 64 metres. Mr Geary explained he made some use of BLISSES BEST to secure the lead which he felt may have been a contributing factor however felt BLISSES BEST would have not been beaten as far had it not been checked passing the 400 metres and contacted marker pegs as a consequence. A post-race veterinary examination of BLISSES BEST failed to reveal any significant findings.

JIVE MASTER – Hung in at various stages prior to hanging in under pressure passing the 400 metres resulting in DYNAMITES BEST, which was improving into a narrow run between JIVE MASTER and BLISSES BEST, being tightened resulting in DYNAMITES BEST shifting in also tightening BLISSES BEST which resulted in that runner contacting marker pegs.

RACE 7 – SKY RACING ACTIVE PACE – 1720 metres

HOLZHAUER – Pre-race blood sample.

LOOKING GOOD MARGIE – Driver Cameron Hart was questioned regarding the performance of the filly which finished in 8th placing beaten 40 metres ($6.00). Mr Hart explained the filly was first up since November 2024 which he felt may have been a contributing factor to the filly failing to finish the race off as expected. A post-race veterinary examination of LOOKING GOOD MARGIE revealed the filly to be displaying a delayed post-race recovery.

SKYE MARY MAC NZ – Broke clear of interference approaching the 1300 metres and a warning was issued.

NOTSOKOOL – Post-race swab sample.

EPIC ERNIE – Over raced through the middle stages.

JOE BY THE SEASIDE NZ – Underwent pre and post-race veterinary examinations due to the gelding not having started in the preceding 12 months. Theses examinations did not reveal any significant findings.

RONNIE THE HAMMER – Declared a late scratching at 12.26pm acting on veterinary advice.

 

RACE 8 – HRNSW GUARANTEED TWO YEAR OLD PACE – 1720 metres

FRANCO LOU – Driver Brian Portelli was fined $200 under Rule 156(2)(a) in that inside the final 200 metres he applied the whip in more than a wrist only flicking motion.

MARRANZANO – Post-race swab sample.

LUVATINNY – Pre-race blood sample. Trainer/Driver David Moran was questioned regarding the tactics adopted on the filly in particular his decision to pursue inside runs inside the final 400 metres. Mr Moran explained LUVATINNY was placed under pressure passing the 600 metres when he was unable to fully occupy the position following ELEGANT STRIDE. Mr Moran added in these circumstances he did not feel it would be in the filly’s best interest to then improve 3 wide rounding the final turn particularly as LUVATINNY commenced to hang in rounding the final turn. Mr Moran added that whilst LUVATINNY was momentarily held up approaching the finish he was not of the view it affected the final finishing position of the filly. Upon consideration the explanation provided, which was verified by the available replays, Stewards did not feel the tactics adopted in these circumstances were entirely unreasonable and recorded Mr Moran’s explanation. Mr Moran was further issued a reprimand under Rule 170(1)(b) in that passing the 300 metres when activating the deafeners with his left foot he allowed his foot to drop below the sulky footrest.

SWEETNSTORMY NZ – Paced roughly passing the 600 metres.

 

 

RACE 9 – PENRITH RSL PACE – 2125 metres

TIGERLICIOUS – Inconvenienced passing the 600 metres when held up behind JUST HOME GROWN NZ which commenced to tire.

ART IDEAL – Pre-race blood sample. Broke clear of interference on to occasions (passing the 1200 metres, approaching the 500 metres) and as a consequence ART IDEAL will now be stood down from racing until trialling to the satisfaction of the Stewards.

RUFF NUT – Post-race swab sample.

PLAYFUL MISS – Held up rounding the home turn and the early part of the straight.
