RACE 1 – ACCESS GROUP SOLUTIONS CLEANING SERVICES 3YO TROTTERS FOUNDATION HEAT 1 – 1609 metres

YOUR MAJESTY – Approaching the 1300 metres became unbalanced and broke gait. In view of its recent record connections were advised YOUR MAJESTY would be stood down from racing until it can complete one satisfactory official trial.

SAN JUAN MOUNTAIN – Post-race swab sample.

ORIA – Raced roughly over the final 100 metres and approaching the finish was struck on one occasion with the whip and subsequently ORIA broke gait. The all clear was delayed affording Stewards the opportunity to review the concluding stages. After taking submissions from Trainer/Driver B Fitzpatrick, reviewing the official films and considering their own observations, Stewards determined that when struck with the whip and subsequently breaking gait, ORIA broke gait and lunged forward. Rule 155(1) was invoked and ORIA was relegated from first to second. No action was taken against Driver B Fitzpatrick given the proximity of the incident to the finish which did not afford him sufficient time to react and apply the required restraint to ORIA. A warning was placed on the filly. Post-race blood sample.

MISS OHANA – Pre-race blood sample. Broke gait during the score up and was out of position at the start. Subsequently MISS OHANA did not take any competitive part in the event. A warning was issued.

MAJESTIC FUNDS – Will be reincluded in the mobile barrier draw.

JACKIES GIFT – Approaching the 700 metres became unbalanced and broke gait. A warning was issued. A post-race veterinary examination revealed no obvious abnormalities. Will now be reincluded into the mobile barrier draw.

MONTY MONTE – Broke gait shortly after the start and will continue to be placed right outside the draw in future mobile barrier events.

RACE 2 – BLING IT ON STANDING AT COBBITTY EQUINE FARM 2YO PACE – 1609 metres

MYRAS MINT – Post-race swab sample.

HUNGRY JOE – Pre-race blood sample. Approaching the 1400 metres raced roughly and leaving the 1400 metres became unbalanced and broke gait. Connections were advised HUNGRY JOE would now be excluded from the mobile barrier draw for the immediate future.

BARDEN RIDGE – Raced roughly after the start. Approaching the 1300 metres was placed in restricted room by LEWIE KELLY and subsequently BARDEN RIDGE struck the near side wheel of that runner which caused BARDEN RIDGE to be checked and break gait.

SOHO WASHINGTON – Approaching the 800 metres veered in and contacted several marker pegs and after being corrected by its driver veered in on a second occasion leaving the 800 metres. Driver L McCarthy was not able to provide an explanation for the colt’s erratic behaviour. Trainer M Stanley was advised SOHO WASHINGTON must complete one satisfactory official trial prior to resuming racing.

LEWIE KELLY – Driver R Alchin was found guilty of a charge under Rule 163(1)(a)(iii) for causing interference in that approaching the 1300 metres he directed his runner LEWIE KELLY to shift in resulting in LEWIE KELLY placing BARDEN RIDGE into severely restricted racing room and consequently LEWIE KELLY contacted the extended front legs of BARDEN RIDGE which caused that runner to be checked and break gait. In assessing penalty, consideration was given to the not guilty plea entered by R Alchin, R Alchin’s overall driving record and the degree of the interference. Driver R Alchin had his licence to drive in races suspended for a period of 18 days.

RACE 3 – MENANGLE PARK GLENLEE COMMUNITY 2YO PACE – 1609 metres

COMPLETE STRANGER – Hung out after the start and approaching the 1500 metres became unbalanced and broke gait. Connections were advised COMPLETE STRANGER would now be excluded from the mobile barrier draw.

FAVOURED GRACE – Raced roughly during the score up and was out of position at the start. A warning was issued. Improved three wide in the middle stages before crossing to the position outside the leader near the 600 metres.

RACE 4 – FARMER JOES A FAMILY BUSINESS TROTTERS MOBILE – 2300 metres

TROT TO CHEVRON NZ – Passing the 250 metres became unbalanced and broke gait. In view of its recent record, connections were advised TROT TO CHEVRON NZ would be stood down from racing for a period of 10 days and until it can complete two satisfactory official trials.

PHARISEE – Underwent a pre and post-race veterinary examination as per HRNSW animal welfare guidelines. No abnormalities were detected. Carried a flat tyre from the 1400 metres. Commenced to weaken near the 700 metres and continued to give significant ground over the concluding stages to be beaten 127 metres. Driver O Shea explained that the race was not run to suit and with the benefit of hindsight he may have looked to have driven the gelding with cover. Notwithstanding this and noting the circumstances, connections were advised that a warning would be placed on PHARISEE for its performance.

SHOULD BEABARCA – Raced three wide in the early stages before working forward to the lead. Post-race swab sample.

CHIEF RUNNINGCLOUD – Pre-race blood sample.

RACE 5 – IRT YOUR HORSE OUR PASSION PACE – 1609 metres

DUTY OF CARE – Pre-race blood sample. Near the 250 metres obtained a run to the inside of STELLAR STRIDE which shifted out.

SHE WHO DARES – Tired over the concluding stages.

STELLAR STRIDE – Driver B Fitzpatrick was questioned regarding the tactics he employed on STELLAR STRIDE in particular the movement of his runner away from the marker pegs near the 300 metres and again near the 250 metres. B Fitzpatrick explained STELLAR STRIDE was only having its fourth race start and as evidenced at its previous 3 starts, the mare has a tendency to hang in on the turns and hang out in the straights. He added approaching the 300 metres STELLAR STIDE was laying in and when he attempted to straighten her she did run out upon straightening. Then near the 250 metres, once again the mare laid in under pressure and he was conscious of DUTY OF CARE which had improved to its inside. Therefore, he corrected his runner wider on the track. Driver B Fitzpatrick’s explanation was noted however he was to always ensure he drives his runners in a manner which does not leave himself open to question. A post-race veterinary examination of STELLAR STRIDE revealed no obvious abnormalities.

CYCLONE BELLA NZ – Post-race swab sample.

OLLIE ONE SHOT – Weakened over the concluding stages.

LARRIKIN LENNY – Raced roughly after the start.

RACE 6 – SKY RACING PACE – 1609 metres

PARALLEL – Had difficulty securing clear running until shifting back to the inside near the 150 metres.

WHYIMAN – Pre-race blood sample. Post-race swab sample.

After the running of race 6, all drivers were called to the Stewards room after some drivers had voiced concerns with the visibility during the event. Submissions were taken from drivers and Club Menangle Racing Manager D Wonson. The decision was made to continue with the race meeting and to reassess track conditions after the running of Race 7.

RACE 7 – WOODLANDS STUD – WE SHUTTLE THE BEST STALLIONS PACE – 1609 metres

SAO PAULO SIMBA – Improved three wide in the middle stages before working forward to the lead. Post-race swab sample.

After the running of Race 7 opinions were sought from all drivers regarding the track conditions and the majority of drivers raised significant concerns with the lack of visibility and inherent safety. Subsequently, Race 8 and Race 9 were abandoned.
