RACE 1 – STUART VALENTINE BLOODSTOCK INSURANCE PACE – 1730 metres
General: Stewards intend to review all wagering in regards to this event.

RATATATTAT – Raced roughly passing the 600m & broke gait approaching the 400m checking multiple runners shifted outwards and locked wheels with MCLEAN. A warning was issued against the racing manners of RATATATTAT. A post-race veterinary examination failed to reveal any abnormalities.
LUCKY PUNT – ($5.50) Pulled hard during the early and middle stages of the event. Driver Jett Turnbull was queried into the tactics adopted upon the mare in particularly from approaching the 400m into his decision to direct the mare from racing outside the leader to trail the leader TEN MINUTES prior obtaining clear running along the sprint lane. Mr Turnbull advised LUCKY PUNT had raced fiercely throughout the event & when RATATATTAT broke gait he felt it was an opportunity to allow the mare some respite as the mare was commencing to be placed under pressure at that point despite him attempting to keep the mare on the bit as LUCKY PUNT does have a tendency to break gait and hang inwards at which point directing LUCKY PUNT to the marker line would assist the mare around the final turn. Mr Turnbull added LUCKY PUNT was immediately placed under pressure once directed to the marker line & raced roughly momentarily approaching the 250m prior to being directed into the sprint lane and failed to finish off over the concluding stages which he attributed to the manner LUCKY PUNT raced fiercely in the event. After viewing the available replays & the comments of Mr Turnbull stewards advised Mr Turnbull, he had erred however not at required standard that the driving tactics adopted by Mr Turnbull during the area of concern were culpable so as to be blameworthy noting the manner which LUCKY PUNT finished off over the concluding stages once directed into the sprint lane. Mr Turnbull was issued a reprimand for contacting a marker peg when directing into the sprint lane.
TULHURST TIMMY – Inconvenienced approaching the 800m when the speed eased in the running line.

BUSHY BEACH NZ – ($1.85 Fav) Driver Jett Turnbull was queried into the overall performance of the gelding which finished in 7th position beaten 8.2m after leading. KICK THE SWITCH – Pre-race swab.
PAS DE CHEVAL – ($13.00) Driver Amanda Turnbull was queried into the seemingly poor performance of the mare which finished in 9th and last position beaten 63.4m after racing outside the leader from the 1000m. Ms Turnbull advised PAS DE CHEVAL had endued more work than expected during the early stages of the event to obtain the position outside the leader combined with PAS DE CHEVAL continued to race keenly prior to being placed under pressure from the 500m & provided to be disappointing. Trainer Steve Turnbull advised PAS DE CHEVAL is better suited to being driven more conservatively however the mares’ racing manners in pulling hard after the start being affected and being unable to be restrained have contributed to PAS DE CHEVAL being driven more forward. A post-race veterinary failed to reveal any abnormalities. A warning was issued against the racing competitiveness of PAS DE CHEVAL.

Ms Frisby advised the gelding to be disappointing and could offer no tangible explanation for the performance. Ms Frisby was reminded of her actions in allowing SPORTY MICKILLA to hang inwards and shift into the sprint lane for the entire length of the straight. In not taking action against Ms Frisby stewards were mindful no runner was ever impeded.
TINTINS TREASURE – ($3.30) Driver Jye Coney was queried into the seemingly poor performance of the gelding which finished in 10th and last position beaten 52.2m after racing outside the leader throughout. Mr Coney advised the gelding provided to be disappointing however contributed the performance to a combination of TINTINS TREASURE pulling extremely hard & racing outside the leader without cover over the longer distance. A warning was issued against TINTINS TREASURE racing competitiveness.

Mr O’Shea advised OUR LAST GRIN is one paced and is best driven when able to maintain an even speed throughout as the mare has been out sprinted in prior starts when steadied during the second & third quarters. Mr O’Shea added OUR LAST GRIN provided to be extremely disappointing as the stable was confident of a forward performance & was at a loss to explain the poor performance.
