RACE 1 – LOCAL DRIVER OF THE YEAR TOM DOWNEY PACE– 1740 metres

INGERMARLA – Held up and failed to gain clear running for the entire length of the home straight.

ARKLOW – ($4.00) Trainer Paul Kahlefeldt was queried into the seemingly improved performance of the mare compared to its most recent starts. Mr Kahlefeldt advised the mare benefited to racing weaker opposition compared to prior starts & the mare is best driven more conservatively instead of leading which the mare had been in prior starts combined with the moderated overall mile rate of 2.2.0 for the 1740m. Post-race swab.

MASTABLASTA – Driver Blake Micallef reported the near side sulky wheel deflated inside the final 150m.

LIGHT UP LILY – Pre-race swab. Underwent pre and post-race veterinary examinations due to the mare having not started in the preceding 12 months. Neither examination revealed any significant abnormalities. Yielded ground from the 500m to finish in 9th and last position beaten 62.7m. LIGHT UP LILY will now be placed on its last chance to race competitively.

RACE 2– LOCAL TRAINER OF THE YEAR JEFF PLION PACE – 1740 metres

General: The start of this event was delayed one (1) minute due to Race 5 at Capalaba Greyhounds being behind their scheduled starting time.

CASH FOR NASH – Pre-race swab & Post-race swab.

SWEET DENIAL – Yielded ground from the 600m to finish in 9th and last position beaten 63.7m. SWEET DENIAL will now be stood down from racing until trialling to the satisfaction of stewards on two (2) occasions and for a period of fourteen (14) days. In taking this action stewards were mindful SWEET DENIAL was stood down at its most recent start for its poor racing competitiveness.

SHOOBEE ONE – Yielded ground from the 600m to finish in 10th and last position beaten 76.7m. SHOOBEE ONE will now be stood down from racing until trialling the satisfaction of stewards on one (1) occasion.

JESSIE LEE – Held up during the early stages of the home straight prior to obtaining clear running inside the final 50m.

BAYRIDGE TOMMY – Broke gait clear of interference entering the first turn. A warning was issued against the racing manners of BAYRIDGE TOMMY.

RACE 3 – VOLUNTEER OF THE YEAR – JUSTIN CROWE PACE – 1740 metres

MITTYS THREE ACES NZ – Contacted the nearside sulky wheel of CRACKER MISS passing the 200m when that runner shifted down the track. Driver Claire Judd pleaded guilty to a charge under AHR Rule 156(2)(a) for applying the whip to the gelding with more than a wrist flicking motion. Mrs Judd was fined the sum of $200.

ALL SO SASSY – Pre-race swab. Tightened for racing room passing the 300m when the mare hung outwards simultaneously as IDEAL TAO hung inwards wider on the track tightening the racing room of ROLL PLAY who then was taken inwards onto ALL SO SASSY.

MOST CERTAIN MICKY – Driver Nic Horan pleaded guilty to a charge under AHR Rule 156(2)(a) for applying the whip to the gelding with more than a wrist flicking motion and with overt force inside the final 170m.  In assessing penalty Stewards considered Mr Horan’s recent offence record which displayed one (1) relevant prior offence within the past sixty (60) day or drive period. Stewards according imposed a fine of $400.

CRACKER MISS – Driver Peter McRae was issued a reprimand for carelessly permitting CRACKER MISS to shift down the track when not sufficiently clear of MITTYS THREE ACES NZ causing that runner to contact & deflate the nearside sulky wheel of CRACKER MISS.

GOODTIME JAZZI – ($71.00) Trainer Jason Turner was queried into the seemingly improved performance of the mare compared to its most recent starts. Mr Turner advised GOODTIME JAZZI was suited to be driven more forward in the event in racing outside the leader as the mare lacks any high speed and is one paced and was suited to the more even sectionals. Mr Turner added GOODTIME JAZZI was dropping in grade & opposition as the mare had won a similar rating event when last victorious in March 2025.  Post-race swab.

ROLL PLAY – Tightened for racing room passing the 300m when IDEAL TAO hung inwards simultaneously as ALL SO SASSY which was racing to its inside hung outwards.

IDEAL TAO – Driver Tahlia Johnson was fined the sum of $50 under AHR Rule 162(1)(j) for failing to maintain her position until the start was effected. Hung inwards passing the 300m tightening the racing room of ROLL PLAY simultaneously as ALL SO SASSY hung outwards.

YOO TRISH – Jibbed when leaving the pre-race circle and was significantly out of position when the start was effected. YOO TRISH will continue to be drawn wide in future mobile start events. In not taking more action stewards were mindful the mare was having its first start under a new trainer.

RACE 4– SARBY’S TAKEAWAY PACE – 2140 metres

PLAYING FOR KEEPS – Broke its number two (2) carrying strap during the event causing the mare to race roughly passing the 400m.

MUSCLE TOWN – ($12.00) Trainer Nicholas Hargraves was queried into the overall performance of the mare which finished in 6th position beaten 22.2m after leading. Mr Hargreaves advised the mare to be disappointing as he was confident of a forward performance as the mare had been working & trialled well leading up to today’s event. Mr Hargraves attribute the performance to the mare being first up since 17th December 2024 and only having one (1) trial combined with racing over the longer distance of 2140m for the first time under his care as it would be his intentions to restrict MUSCLE TOWN to the shorter distances going forward as MUSCLE TOWN would derive benefit from the performance.

VALDEZZ – Declared a late scratching at 12:44pm due to float breakdown.

CEE WHOS BETTOR NZ – Pre-race swab.

HAITCH VEE TEE – Back in mobile draw.

LOUIS THE LEGEND – Raced roughly entering the first turn. Raced ungenerously at variously stages of the event. Post-race swab.

KARINYA HAZ – Back in mobile draw.

RACE 5 – BRENDON HEASLIP CONCRETING PACE – 1740 metres

THE LURKER – ($4.80) Driver Jackson Painting was queried into the seemingly poor performance of the gelding which finished in 9th and last position beaten 48.5m after racing three (3) back along the marker line. Mr Painting attributed the performance to the heavier conditions along the marker line which the gelding failed to handle. A post-race veterinary examination failed to reveal any abnormalities.

STARS ABROAD – Pre-race swab.

TIGER CHEDDAR – Post-race swab.

CATCH A SHARK – Inconvenienced and taken back from the 600m when THE LURKER was giving ground.

RACE 6 – LEMON SERVICE AND REPAIRS PACE – 1740 metres

SANDERS – Hung outwards despite the drivers’ efforts and passing the 200m making heavy contact to the nearside sulky wheel of GEOFFREY BEE and raced roughly checking CENTREFIRE causing that runner to break gait. A warning was issued against the racing manners of SANDERS.

GEOFFREY BEE – Nearside sulky wheel was contacted deflated passing the 200m when SANDERS hung outwards unseating driver Tom Downey momentarily & checking CENTREFIRE. Driver Tom Downey was fined the sum of $200 under AHR Rule 156(2)(a) for applying the whip to the gelding with more than a wrist flicking motion and with overt force inside the final 150m.

MAYWYNS LA NINA – Post-race swab.

ZOLTON – Driver Jeff Brown was issued a reprimand for tightening the racing room of CENTREFIRE when directing into a running line position approaching the 1600m. Inconvenienced passing the 200m when CENTREFIRE was checked & broke gait.

MOP NZ – Inconvenienced passing the 200m when CENTREFIRE was checked & broke gait.

IM BELIEBER – Pre-race swab.

ALABAMA LIONESS – Driver Harrison Ross pleaded guilty to a charge under AHR Rule 163(1)(a)(iii) for causing interference in that inside the 100m he permitted ALABAMA LIONESS to continually too shift out when not clear of SEASIDE BALL GOWN causing SEASIDE BALL GOWN to be taken wider on the track and to be checked race roughly inside the final 50m & shift out inconveniencing SCOTTIE MACH. In assessing penalty Stewards took into account the relevant considerations as outlined within the HRNSW Penalty Guidelines placing significant weight on Mr Ross’s guilty plea, his good driving record (180 drives since last offence December 2024) the low degree of interference.  Stewards accordingly imposed a seven (7) day suspension of his licence to drive in races commencing midnight 20th May 2025.

SCOTTIE MACH – Inconvenienced and sulky contacted when SEASIDE BALL GOWN was tightened for racing room and taken up the track inside the final 100m.
