RACE 1 – SOCIETY 389 PACE – 2300 METRES

SAHARA SIROCCO - Unable to secure clear running in the early stages of the home straight.

ROMANEE NZ - Pre-race blood sample.

OOGA CHAKA - Post-race swab sample.

CRAFTMANS CHARLIE - Worked forward to obtain the lead passing the 1900 metres.

BOOM NZ – Hampered and paced roughly passing the 1100 metres when the pace on the marker pegs was eased.

CAPTAIN BELLASARIO - Stewards questioned driver C Alford in relation to the performance of the gelding ($4 fav) when failing to run on over the concluding stages to be beaten 18.5 metres and finished in ninth position. Mr. Alford explained that the gelding is best suited when able to race on the marker pegs and noted that the slow tempo set during the first half proved detrimental over the concluding stages to his drive. Mr Alford further added that the gelding did not handle the final turn when hanging in. Stewards noted his comments.

RACE 2 – ALLIANCE CONTRACTING PACE – 2300 METRES

HYDEEHO NZ - Pre-race blood sample.

FRANCO TYSON - Worked forward to the lead passing the 1850 metres. Post-race swab sample.

SWEETHEART BART - Stewards questioned trainer/driver S Grima in relation to the tactics adopted in particular his decision to increase the tempo of the event during the second quarter recording the second quarter in 26.9 seconds. Mr Grima explained that he had been impressed with the horses first two starts when racing outside of the leader in fast mile rates over the mile at Menangle and was of the opinion that the horse is best suited when able to maintain a solid tempo throughout. Mr Grima explained that after working forward during the early stages he elected to try and obtain the lead passing the 1650 metres and noted that leaving the 1200 metres he elected to increase the tempo of the event to maintain a solid tempo throughout. Mr Grima explained that he was disappointed in the overall performance of the gelding when failing to run on over the concluding stages. Post-race veterinary examination revealed the horse to be lame in the left fore and acting on veterinary advice SWEETHEART BART was stood down for a period of seven days and until a veterinary certificate of fitness is submitted. Stewards explained to Mr Grima that they held concerns with the tactics adopted in the event however noting the veterinary finding Stewards elected to take the matter no further.

RACE 3 – ABLE DOORS PACE – 1609 METRES

OUR UNCLE JIM - Checked and locked wheels leaving the 350 metres with JOE NIEN when JOE NIEN was taken up the track by MACH DA VINCI NZ which was racing to its inside.

DOUBLE ACT - Unable to secure clear running the early stages of the home straight.

JOE NIEN - Pre and post-race veterinary examination was conducted due to the gelding having competed in excess of 200 race starts. No obvious abnormalities were detected on either examination. Checked and locked wheels with OUR UNCLE JIM leaving the 350 metres when JOE NIEN moved up the track marginally away from MACH DA VINCI NZ.

OUR VINCENT CAN GOGH NZ - Stewards questioned trainer/ driver L McCarthy in relation to the performance of the gelding ($2.40 fav) when failing to run on over the concluding stages to be beaten 10.7 metres and finished in fifth position. Mr McCarthy explained that it was first up for his stable tonight and was not overly disappointed in the performance. Mr McCarthy stated he would expect the gelding to take improvement from the run.

MACH DA VINCI NZ – Pre-race blood sample. Stewards issued driver L Green a reprimand under Rule 168(1)(a) for careless driving in that leaving the 400 metres he has allowed MACH DA VINCI NZ to improve forward and race over the back of OUR VINCENT CAN GOGH NZ resulting in driver L McCarthy being placed in restricted room in in the sulky. MACH DA VINCI NZ shifted up the track further approaching 350 metres and as a result JOE NIEN was taken slightly wider.

KANENA PROVLIMA - Post-race swab sample.

CURLY JAMES - Pre-race blood sample. Worked forward to obtain the lead passing the 1000 metres. Stewards questioned driver C Alford in relation to the performance of the gelding ($4.60) when failing to run on over the concluding stages to be beaten 16.4 metres and finished in sixth position. Mr Alford explained that the gelding raced keenly during the early stages however it was the intentions, due to the wide barrier draw, to go back at the start however due to the racing manners of the gelding he was required to work forward during the early stages. Stewards noted his comments.

 

 

RACE 4 –  TAB REGIONAL CONSOLATION – METROPOLITAN – 2300 METRES

CAPTAIN BLOOD - Pre-race blood sample.

VALIENTE HANOVER - Pre-race blood sample.

THE METAL FLYER – Post-race swab sample.

TOORAM MAGIC - Stewards question trainer/driver J Rattray in relation to the performance of the gelding when failing to run on over the concluding stages ($3.10 Fav) to be beaten 31 metres finished in 11th position. Mr Rattray explained that the gelding races best when able to find the lead and when unable to do so in tonight’s event, he was caught racing outside of the leader. Mr Rattray explained that in view of the circumstances of being caught outside of the leader he was not overly disappointed in the performance of the gelding.

BALTUSROL - Caught racing three wide in the early stages before becoming unbalanced and galloping passing the 1750 metres and being restrained at the tail of the field approaching the 1500 metres for which a warning was issued. Post-race veterinary examination revealed no abnormalities.

PRINCE OF PEACE - Over raced throughout the event.

 

 

RACE 5 – DRH LANDSCAPING BILL GREEN FFA – 2300 METRES

MAX DELIGHT - Worked forward to obtain the lead passing the 1800 metres.

RAVISHING SLOY - Unable to secure clear running the home straight on the final occasion was not fully tested.

IM THE FALCON NZ - Pre-race blood sample.

NYACK - Post-race swab sample.

JAY OK - Pre-race blood sample.

PETE SAID SO NZ - Pre and post-race veterinary examination was conducted due to the gelding having competed in excess of 200 race starts. No obvious abnormalities were detected on either examination.

 

 

 

RACE 6 – TAB REGIONAL FINAL – METROPOLITAN (LISTED CLASSIC) 2300 METRES

BANDIT EYES - Became unbalanced and galloped shortly after the start for which the gelding will now be placed outside the mobile barrier draw. Unable to secure clear running in the early stages of the home straight.

DUGGEE SLOY - Pre-race blood sample. Unable to secure clear running in the early stages of the home straight. Post-race swab sample.

HORN PLAYER – Pre-race blood sample. Worked forward to obtain the lead passing the 1950 metres. Post-race swab sample.

TOMAHAWK BART – Pre-race blood sample. Post-race swab sample.

VITE MONET - Hampered after the start when avoiding the galloping BANDIT EYES. Improved three wide with the trail from the 1400 metres until obtaining the position outside of the leader passing the 1000 metres.

BARTELLO - Checked and galloped after the start and took no competitive part in the event when avoiding the galloping BANDIT EYES.

MISTER BLUECHIP - Pre-race blood sample. Hampered at the start when avoiding the galloping BANDIT EYES. Improved three wide from the 1400 metres until working forward to obtain the position outside of the leader passing the 1100 metres.

 

 

 

RACE 7 – SUCCESS STUD NSW TROTTERS DERBY (GROUP 1) – 2300 METRES

EZRA KAI - Paced during the score up before being checked and galloping by driver L Sutton and was out of position at the start which warning was issued.

JACKIES GIFT - Over raced throughout the event. Stewards questioned trainer/driver G Forrest in relation to the filly being eased out of the event approaching the 1000 metres.  Mr Forrest explained that in his opinion the filly had choked down at this point. As a result, he elected to ease the filly out of the event passing the 1000 metres. Post-race veterinary examination failed to reveal any significant abnormalities. In view of the filly’s racing manners JACKIES GIFT was stood down until it completes one re-qualifying trial.

CLAUDYS HERO - Pre-race blood sample. Hung in, became unbalanced and galloped whilst under pressure passing the 400 metres for which warning was issued.

MISS OHANA - Post-race swab sample.

COMMODUS - Pre-race blood sample. Worked forward to obtain the lead passing the 1600 metres. Post-race swab sample.

GATESYS GEM - Post-race swab sample.

MONTY MONTE - Became unbalanced and galloped passing the 1450 metres for which the colt will now be stood down until it completes one re-qualifying trial.

 

 

 

RACE 8 – AUSTIN LANDSCAPING BULLI TROTTERS CUP – 2300 METRES

SPEEDY LOVER - Slow to begin.

HOT TO TROT NZ - Galloped out at the start for which the gelding will now be placed outside the standing start draw. Became unbalanced and galloped passing the 1800 metres and again passing the 1000 metres for which the gelding was stood down until it completes one re-qualifying trial.

COURAGE STRIDE - Unable to secure clear running in the early stages of the home straight.

FAMILIAR TRICKS - Galloped out for which the horse will be given its last chance in the standing start draw. Checked and galloped passing the 1800 metres when avoiding the galloping HOT TO TROT NZ.

LEAF STRIDE NZ - Began badly before being hampered when avoiding the galloping HOT TO TROT NZ.

VALTINO - Pre-race blood sample. Galloped out at the start for which a warning was issued.

SUNNY GEE - Stewards questioned driver J Gallagher in relation to the seemingly improved performance of the gelding when successful in tonight’s event ($101). Mr Gallagher explained that after beginning well he was able to lead the event before obtaining cover and received a favourable run in transit. Post-race swab sample.

RAKERO BLAZE NZ - Galloped out at the start. Will continue to be excluded from the standing start draw.

HANOVER DA MOON NZ - Worked forward to obtain the lead passing the 1700 metres.

TORO STRIDE NZ - Pre-race blood sample.

 

 

 

RACE 9 – MY PROPERTY CONSULTANTS LADYSHIP PACE – 1609 METRES

MY CRACKLING ROSIE - Pre-race blood sample.

GIPSY PRINCESS - Gave ground over the concluding stages to be beaten 44 metres and finished in last position. Mr Gallagher explained that the mare was racing up in grade and not suited when racing outside of the leader. In view of the mares performance, a warning was issued. Post-race veterinarian examination failed to reveal any obvious abnormalities.

EVER ART – Worked forward to obtain the lead past the 1150 metres. Post-race swab sample.

BOULEVARDOFDREAMS - Stewards questioned driver L McCarthy in relation to his decision to improve forward to the lead passing the 600 metres after surrendering the lead passing the 850 metres. Mr McCarthy explained that shortly after surrendering to BELLA DANZA that, that mare commenced to ease the pace significantly and as a result he elected to improve forward of BELLA DANZA to retake the lead. Mr McCarthy explained that in his opinion the mare was more than capable of running the sectionals that were recorded tonight and he was disappointed in the overall performance of the mare. Post-race veterinary examination failed to reveal any obvious abnormalities.
