IM ALL BUSINESS – Trainer A Ashwood was fined $50 under Rule 268A(1) for failing to have a gear form lodged for the colt. Driver A Ashwood was questioned regarding the below market expectations performance of the colt, he stated that he had to do too much work in the middle stages of the event when improving three wide to get to the position outside the leader, after the pace increased after he shifted out to improve. He added that after he got to that position the speed increased again making it very difficult for his runner to be able to finish the race off. A Ashwood was also questioned regarding his apparent lack of vigour in the home straight, he stated that being a colt it can be somewhat difficult to drive as it has colt tendencies and it can resent the whip particularly when it drops the bit, which he stated it did as they entered the home straight, so he was reluctant to use it again. Stewards noted his comments. A post-race Veterinary examination did not reveal any abnormalities.

DIEING ART – Driver J Painting was queried regarding the performance of the mare, which appeared to over-race when racing up outside the leader during the middle stages of the event, and tired over the concluding stages. He stated that after working forward three wide in the early stages on the back of MISSAUDACIOUS when it worked to the lead near the 1600 metres leaving him facing the breeze, his mare commenced to over-race and he was unable to get her to settle. He added that the sectionals being run during the first and second quarters were not quick for this class which he felt contributed to her pulling but he was not trying to race up level with the leader. He further added that given the way she over-raced and being over the longer distance he was not disappointed with her run. A warning was placed on the mare for over-racing in the manner she did.
