SIREN SEA – A pre and post-race veterinary examination was conducted as the mare has not raced since 20 September 2023. No abnormalities were detected on either examination. Pre-race blood sample. Post-race swab sample.

UNCLE TONY – Driver A Frisby was issued a reprimand under rule 168(1)(a) in that when shifting down to obtain the sprint lane on the final occasion has made minimal contact to the inside sulky wheel of THE COUNTY SHERIFF and as a result that runner sustained a flat tyre.

THE COUNTY SHERIFF – Sustained a flat tyre when the inside sulky wheel was contacted by UNCLE TONY in the home straight on the final occasion.

BOHEMIAN BRAWLER – Leaving the 400 metres when racing wide on the track raced roughly for a short distance.

RACE 2 – AUSTRAL WIRE PRODUCTS PTY LTD LADYSHIP PACE – 1730 metres

ROSE OF JULIANA – Inconvenienced between the 400 metres and the 300 metres when trailing KENZIE SHANNON who was yielding ground.

KENZIE SHANNON – Fractious when leaving the score up. A warning was issued. Commenced to give ground over the final 400 metres to finish in 10th and last position beaten 51.7 metres. Driver T Bullock stated he was disappointed in the filly’s overall performance but on returning to scale showed signs the filly may be suffering from a virus. KENZIE SHANNON will be sent for a spell and stood down for 28 days.

TREACHEROUS BELLE – Had a tendency to shift out under pressure in the home straight on the final occasion. Post-race swab sample.

LIVE VANCE – Pre-race blood sample.

LUCKY PUNT – Had a tendency to over race throughout the event. Driver J Coney was questioned on his tactics when shifting wider prior to the sprint lane and was unable to obtain clear running in the run to the finish. He stated when leaving the 300 metres there was sufficient room to shift his runner wider on the track to obtain clear running and when doing so TRUE LOGIC (D Munro) shifted down the track and also with TREACHEROUS BELLE (B Hewitt) shifting up the track with the gap closing and as a result he was unable to obtain clear running in the run to the finish. After viewing the race footage, they supported his evidence and his comments were noted.

RACE 3 – PHILMAC PACE – 1730 metres

SAVEEON – Pre-race blood sample. Had a tendency to hang out after the start and became unbalanced and broke stride. The mare will be given its last chance in the mobile barrier draw.

STUDLEIGH MELISE – Had a tendency to hang in shortly after the start.

WIPEOUT – Driver W Rixon was queried on the performance of the gelding which failed to run on over the concluding stages. He stated the gelding over raced significantly throughout the event which was detrimental to the performance when placed under pressure over the final 300 metres.

JAYJAYBENNY – Had a tendency to shift out under pressure in the home straight on the final occasion.

BEACHRIDE – Trainer/Driver B Hewitt was queried on the overall performance of the gelding which gave ground over the concluding stages to finish in 8th position beaten 15.9 metres. Mr Hewitt stated he was not overly disappointed in the gelding’s effort as its not suited to racing outside the lead, also the fast tempo of the race proved detrimental to its overall performance. He further added when challenged by HAPPY REG leaving the 800 metres, BEACHRIDE began to over race more than anticipated when that runner improved to its outside and was unable to obtain cover at that stage.

BETTORS HOPE – At the request of connections the gelding will be placed back in the mobile barrier draw in future starts. Post-race swab sample.

VAMOS – Checked after the start when trailing SAVEEON who had broken stride.

HAPPY REG – Trainer/Driver A Frisby was queried on his decision to work forward three wide from the 900 metres before yielding ground over the final 500 metres and finished in 9th position 31.8 metres. He stated at the 900 metres he thought the speed was coming out of the race and BEACHRIDE which was racing outside the leader was some distance from the lead and may look to take cover and when improving to the outside of that runner the speed of the race increased, then when placed under pressure failed to respond to weaken over the concluding stages.

RACE 4 – RIDLEY CORPORATION PACE – 1730 metres

HUNTER SHANNON – Pre-race blood sample.

BUSHY BEACH NZ – Utilised the sprint lane in the home straight on the final occasion. Post-race swab sample.

NOVANTA RISING – Driver J Hewitt was questioned on the overall performance of the gelding which commenced to give ground over the final 300 metres to finish in 9th position beaten 18.3 metres. He stated he elected to follow ZENXENA forward at the 1000 metres as he expected the speed to ease in the middle stages and when finding the position outside, when the speed didn`t ease his runner was disadvantaged and failed to respond when put under pressure at the 300 metres.

RACE 5 – ROTECH RURAL PACE – 1730 metres

OUR GOAT – Pre-race blood sample. Post-race swab sample.

TULHURST TIMMY – Driver P Betts was queried on the overall performance of the gelding after leading the event gave ground over the final 300 metres to finish in 9th position beaten 21.9 metres. Miss Betts stated the gelding had to do more work than anticipated to maintain the lead and when able to do so failed to settle and over raced throughout the event which proved detrimental to his overall performance.

HOOKED ON WINNING NZ – Post-race swab sample.

POTTER – Driver J Coney was questioned on the overall performance of the gelding after challenging the lead in the early stages obtained the one out one back position and failed to run on over the concluding stages to finish in 5th position beaten 14.2 metres. He stated it was his intention to attempt to lead the race in tonight’s event as the gelding has raced well when leading previously, when applying pressure to TULHURST TIMMY he realised the position would not be available when leaving the 900 metres and elected to restrain and was then able to obtain cover off HAZZA IS WATCHING. When placed under pressure over the final 300 metres the gelding didn`t respond as expected.

HAZZA IS WATCHING – Pre-race blood sample. Driver J Turnbull was questioned on the gelding’s overall performance which failed to run on to finish in 6th position beaten 17.8 metres. He stated when racing three wide in the early stages there was the possibility of obtaining the one out one back position, but as the gelding is one paced and races best when outside the leader he elected to work forward. With the consistent tempo and the longer trip racing outside the leader contributed to the performance.

THE DANCER –Drive A Winnell pleaded guilty to a charge under Rule 163(1)(a)(iii) in that approaching the 300 metres when attempting to shift ALTA DOWNS wider was successful in doing so but as a result that runner locked wheels with FLASH AZARAT and FLASH AZARAT being checked and raced roughly. Considering Mr Winnell’s guilty plea and his record in relation to this rule, his licence to drive in races was suspended for a period of seven days. This suspension is to commence midnight Wednesday 4 June 2025.
