RACE 2 – NUTRIEN EQUINE PACE – 1740 metres
REDBANK HARRY – Underwent pre and post-race veterinary examinations due to the gelding having attained the age of 12 years or older & having started in excess of 200 starts. Neither examination revealed any significant abnormalities.
THE TEXAS RANGER – Held up for clear running until approaching the 200m. Raced roughly under pressure. Driver Haylee Day was queried into the tactics adopted upon the gelding in particular if she gave consideration to direct the gelding three (3) wide approaching the 400m when racing in a one-one trailing position in advance of LOYOLA GOLF resulting in THE TEXAS RANGER being held up until approaching the 200m. Ms Day advised she didn’t give consideration to directing the gelding wider at that stage as THE TEXAS RANGER only has a limited sprint and directing THE TEXAS RANGER wider at that point of the event the gelding wouldn’t finish off in the desired manner. Ms Day added she was confident LUVTOO which whom she was following would bring THE TEXAS RANGER into the event and she would not have to direct the gelding wider until upon straightening however when that runner was placed under pressure and commenced to give ground approaching the 300m Ms Day explained she was able to direct the gelding wider on the track and into clear running from the 200m at which point THE TEXAS RANGER finished off in a strong manner. After considering the comments of Ms Day and taking into account the available replays stewards did not feel the tactics adopted were not unreasonable in the circumstances however advised Ms Day, they would expect the gelding to be driven consistent manner going forward.
TIGER CHEDDAR – Pre-race swab.
LUVTOO – ($3.70 Fav) Trainer/driver Bruce Harpley was queried into the seemingly poor performance of the mare which finished in 10th and last position beaten 11.2m after racing outside the leader from the 1300m. Mr Harpley advised the mare to be disappointing and advised the mare failed to travel sufficiency at any stages of the event and may have come to the end of its preparation and he would now consult with connections and recommend to retire LUVTOO from racing.
MOP NZ – Post-race swab.
RACE 3– PREMIUM PUNTER PACE –1740 metres
LOOKMEOVER NZ – Trainer Brad Hewitt was fined the sum of $50 under AHR Rule 268A(1) for presenting the filly in gear which was not correctly declared. Raced roughly passing the 300m a warning was issued against the filly’s racing manners.

PERUN NZ – ($11.00) Trainer Jamie Kirk was queried into the overall performance of the gelding which finished in 7th position beaten 15.5m. Mr Kirk advised he was satisfied with the performance as the gelding hadn’t started in two (2) weeks combined having to sustain a three (3) wide run from the 800m in a quick final half of 54.5 seconds. Mr Kirk added PERUN NZ would benefit from the performance.
RACE 7 – RIVERINA HOTEL PACE – 2270 metre
SHES A WARRAWEE – Post-race swab.
IDEAL MOTH – ($3.00) Pre-race swab. Trainer/driver Damian Wilson was queried into the tactics adopted upon the filly which finished in 7th position beaten 25.7m in particular if gave consideration to improve forward during the middle stages of the event. Mr Wilson advised he did give consideration to progress forward approaching the 1600m however elected not to when ITS A FOND MEMORY (Bill Trembath) which was racing outside the leader appeared to be racing keenly and its driver allowed the mare to improve further forward at which point he felt the speed of the event increased and it gave him the impression that he would not be able to obtain the position outside the leader without exerting IDEAL MOTH. Mr Wilson explained he attempted to improve forward from the 700m however runners in advance commenced to progress forward three (3) wide resulting in the filly being unable to improve into the event. Mr Wilson added would have had to be the widest runner around the final turn therefore elected to direct the filly in between runners passing the 300m in attempt to save ground in a quick final half of 55.2 seconds. After viewing the available replays of the event & prior racing history of IDEAL MOTH which supported his comments stewards noted his comments.
