RACE 1 – MGA INSURANCE BROKERS PACE – 1770 METRES
INGERMARLA – Slow to begin when the start was affected.
CHOCOLATE DELIGHT - Had a tendency to race rough throughout the event.
SYENITE – Broke stride shortly after the start warning was issued.
WORTH EVERY CENT - Driver W Rixon was queried on the fillies overall performance where she failed to run on over the concluding stages to finish in eighth position beaten 60.2 metres. Mr Rixon could give no reasonable explanation for the poor for performance and as a result WORTH EVERY CENT was stood down for one re-qualifying trial.
ITSOKAYNOTTOBEOKAY - Inconvenienced after the start as a result of INGERMARLA being slow to begin.
WAVES OF CHANCE – Pre-race blood. Post-race sample.
BOUND FOR TROUBLE - Leaving the 200 metres became unbalanced and broke stride, considering it was the fillies second race start BOUND FOR TROUBLE was stood down for one re-qualifying trial. At the request of connections the filly will be placed back in the mobile barrier draw in future.
RACE 2 – GLEN MIA (ACT) PTY LTD PACE – 2170 METRES
General
All clear was delayed to ascertain if GLENBURNS WATERS had gained any advantage when crossing the line in the incorrect gait. After taking evidence from driver J Locke and viewing the available race day footage, stewards concluded when racing under pressure inside the final 75 metres, GLENBURNS WATERS had broke stride and despite being restrained had maintained its ground to the finish line. Considering EYEDIDNTLOSEIT and GLENBURNS WATERS dead -heat for first, stewards believed that GLENBURNS WATERS had gained an advantage when crossing the finish line in the incorrect gate and as a result, under Rule 155(2) relegated GLENBURNS WATERS to second place and all clear was given on the judge’s numbers of 8, 9, 5 and 2.
FINANCIALLY STABLE – Pre-race blood.
SATIN BANYULA - Had a tendency to over race when leading the event.
EYEDIDNTLOSEIT - Driver G Lee was caution on his whip use in the home straight on the final occasion. Post-race sample.
GLENBURNS WATERS – Broke stride when racing under pressure inside the final 75 metres, a warning was issued. As a result of maintaining ground while galloping the mare was relegated to second place.
RACE 3 – OSKAR MEMORIALS PACE – 1770 METRES
General
All clear was delayed to ascertain if all runners had obtained a fair start when both the red light and green light were activated on release point, after taking evidence from several drivers and official starter Mr P Forbutt stewards concluded that on release point the red light was activated followed by the green light and with majority of runners not being materially effected with the exception of FRESH PRINCE (J Locke) and ALWAYS BE BRENDAN (O Shea). Both FRESH PRINCE (J Locke) and ALWAYS BE BRENDAN (O Shea) were declared late scratchings under Rule15(1)(t) for being denied a fair start.
NIFTY AMBITION - Broke stride in the score up, a warning was issued.
FRESH PRINCE - Pre-race blood. Declared a late scratching under Rule 15(1)(t) being denied a fair start.
ALWAYS BE BRENDAN - Declared a late scratching under Rule 15(1)(t) being denied a fair start.
ELECTRA GIRL – Post-race sample.
MARIANNA BROMAC NZ - Held up for clear racing room until the final 150 metres.
RACE 4 – O’SULLIVAN ELECTRICAL PACE – 1770 METRES
CHRISSY EVE – Pre-race blood. Leaving the 1500 metres when challenging for the lead became unbalanced and broke stride, a warning was issued.
WHERE BACK – Post-race sample.
TROUBLE IN HEAVEN - Driver W Rixon was queried on the mares overall performance where she failed to run on over the concluding stages finishing in eighth and last position beaten 19.3 metres. He stated the mare was not suited racing outside the leader but was also very disappointing. His comments were noted.
RACE 5 – ‘TAB WE’RE ON’ PACE – 1770 METRES
BONNY MY BOY - Leaving 500 metres became unbalanced and broke stride, a warning was issued.
OUR GEORGE BOSTON – Post-race sample.
RAGING SEA – Pre-race blood.
UNCLE JAY - Pre and post race veterinary examination as the gelding is 13 years of age and has had over 200 race starts. No abnormalities were detected on either examination.
RACE 6 – LONSDALE AUTO ELECTRICS PACE – 1770 METRES
I LIKA STYLE – Pre-race blood. Trainer/driver J Ponsonby was queried on the below market expectation for the mare's performance. He stated after using the mare in the early stages it had some effect on the way she finished the race. He further added that the mare was not handling the track and as a result dropped a knee boot due to hitting her knee throughout the race. Post-race veterinary examination failed to reveal any abnormalities.
THE AGENES – Slow to begin when the start was affected.
LETSTACOBOUTIT - Driver D Cernovskis was cautioned on his whip use in the home straight on the final occasion. Post-race sample.
SUNNYWITHACHANCE – Trainer/driver M Johnson was queried over mares' overall performance, she failed to run on over the concluding stages to finish in 10th and last position beaten 69.4 metres. He stated the mare was first up from a short let up and would derive benefit from the run. SUNNYWITHACHANCE will be given its last chance to race truly.
GIRLS VIEW – Broke stride in the score up, a warning was issued.
PADDY MACH Pre and post-race veterinary examination as the gelding is 12 years of age and has had over 200 race starts. No abnormalities were detected on either examination.
RACE 7 – WATTY’S RURAL AND DOMESTIC FENCING PACE – 1770 METRES
BROBENAH GIRL - Driver H Ross stated the mare never travelled at any stage throughout the event and when placed under pressure failed to run on to finish in eighth and last position beaten 70.9 metres. BROBENAH GIRL will be stood down for one re-qualifying trial. Post-race veterinary examination failed to reveal any abnormalities.
IM NO STRANGER – Post-race sample.
MACHX THE STRANGER - Held up for clear racing room in the run to the finish, not fully tested.
ONE STUNIN MELODY – Pre-race blood.
RACE 8 – O’SULLIVAL ELECTRICAL PACE – 1770 METRES
STINSON – Pre-race blood.
JAKRYAN – Broke stride shortly after the start, considering it was only the geldings third race start he will be placed outside the mobile barrier draw in future starts.
JUSTCALLIMREX – Pre-race blood. Post-race sample.
KAMIKAZE SCOOB - Driver J Locke was fined the sum of $200 under Rule 156(2)(a) when applying his whip in the home straight with a lap to go and also in that home straight on the final occasion has done so with more than a wrist flicking action.
BARKWAY ARIAN - Driver N Hoy could give no reasonable explanation for the gelding's poor performance where it tired over the concluding stages to finish in eighth and last position beaten 63.9 metres. BARKWAY ARIAN will be required to re-qualify on one occasion.
KOZACZYNSKI - Driver G Lee was fined the sum of $50 under Rule 162(1)(j) for failing to maintain his position behind the mobile barrier prior to the start.
