RACE 1 – JOHN BRAZIER MEMORIAL – 2270 metres

MOTHER WAS A MUDDA – Post-race swab sampled.

SPECTA – Pre-race swab sampled.

CEE WHOS BETTOR NZ – Tired over the concluding stages and beaten by a considerable margin. A post-race Veterinary examination did not reveal any abnormalities. Driver S Hallcroft reported that he was disappointed with its run and at a loss to explain it. He added that Trainer L Mulley indicated to him that he would send it for a spell following tonight’s run. Connections were advised the gelding would be required to perform a re-qualifying trial prior to resuming racing.

RACE 2 – TESS & JINGLES MCKENZIE MEMORIAL – 1740 metres

GLAMORS SYMBOL – Examined by the Club Veterinarian prior to the race, as it has had over 200 race starts, and cleared to start.

CRACKER MISS – Driver P McRae was queried regarding the below market expectations performance of the mare, he stated that it travelled strongly until near the 600 metres when he asked it to improve three wide but it did not respond to his urgings and he was a little disappointed with its effort over the concluding stages but could offer no tangible explanation for it.

THE CLOCK WINDER – Pre-race swab sampled. Post-race swab sampled.

RACE 3 – DON INWOOD MEMORIAL – 1740 metres

SPREAD THE FEAR – Tightened for room when racing to the inside of ALWAYSATTHEBEACH entering the first turn and contacted a marker peg. Checked approaching the 400 metres when ALWAYSATTHEBEACH and FIFTYSHADESOFHAY NZ locked wheels.

ALWAYSATTHEBEACH – Pre-race swab sampled. Shifted in when not sufficiently clear of SPREAD THE FEAR tightening that runner entering the first turn. Driver B Micallef was advised to exercise more care when shifting ground in similar circumstances in future. Locked wheels with FIFTYSHADESOFHAY NZ approaching the 400 metres and was checked.

LIGHT UP LILY – Fractious during the early part of the score-up. Tired over the concluding stages and beaten by a considerable margin. A post-race Veterinary examination did not reveal any abnormalities. Connections were advised the mare would be required to perform a re-qualifying trial.

I LIKE WHAT I SEE – Post-race swab sampled.

FIFTYSHADESOFHAY NZ – Hung-in when commencing to tire entering the turn approaching the 400 metres and locked wheels with ALWAYSATTHEBEACH, for which a warning was issued.

RACE 4 – JUDITH & REBECCA RUTLAND MEMORIAL – 1740 metres

CENTREFIRE – Broke gait during the early part of the score-up.

REASON TO PARTY – Pre-race swab sampled.

JAMBEROO ARK – Over-raced during the middle stages of the event. Post-race swab sampled.

ULTIMATE TROUBLE – Trainer N Turnbull was fined $50 under Rule 210 for not declaring a Driver for the mare by the required time.

RACE 5 – IAN WALSH MEMORIAL – 1740 metres

JUST ROCK ME LOU NZ – Post-race swab sampled.

BULLETIN – Pre-race swab sampled.

IM HARVEY SPECTER NZ – Examined by the Club Veterinarian prior to the race, as it was having its first race start in over 12 months, and cleared to start.

CAPTAIN OF SPEED – Held up for clear running over the concluding stages of the race.

RACE 6 – GORDON MCRAE MEMORIAL – 1740 metres

MOST CERTAIN MICKY – Stewards accepted the explanation tendered by Trainer’s representative R Walker for the late declaration of Driver for the gelding.

GLAMOUR FOX – Pre-race swab sampled.

THATS THE ATTITUDE – Post-race swab sampled.

KULANI COURAGE – Placed back in the draw for future mobile start races.

THE BANKER NZ – Contacted marker pegs rounding the home turn and raced inside marker pegs near the 200 metres before continuing into the sprint lane upon entering the home straight. When questioned regarding this Driver A Towers, who was having her first race drive, stated that the gelding commenced to over-race approaching the 400 metres and improved to the inside of BLAZING despite her efforts to hold it back behind that runner. She added it continued to pull hard rounding the turn and she was unable to restrain it to return to the back of that runner and she stayed inside the marker pegs to prevent causing interference to other runners. Given the circumstances connections were advised the gelding would be placed on its last chance to race truly. Furthermore, as Stewards were of the view that the gelding had gained an unfair advantage by racing inside marker pegs rounding the home turn, acting under Rule 66 (h) they relegated it to last position. Placed back in the draw for future mobile start races.

RACE 7 – ROBBIE JACK MEMORIAL – 2270 metres

BONDI BEACH NZ – Hung-out near the 600 metres when it appeared to choke down. Driver S Hallcroft reported that the gelding lost its off fore shoe in the score-up which he felt may have resulted in it hanging during the race. He added that it was the stable’s intention to send it for a spell following tonight’s run. Given the circumstances connections were advised that it would be required to perform a re-qualifying trial prior to resuming racing.

KRISTYSGIRL – Driver J Hogan was fined the sum of $200 under Rule 156(2)(a) for using his whip with an action that was more than a wrist only flicking motion in the home straight. Post-race swab sampled.

SLIPALONG SAINT – Pre-race swab sampled. Hung-in under pressure upon entering the home straight. Driver J Painting reported that the gelding sustained a flat tyre in the early stages of the event.

MORTLOCK – Checked and broke gait after the start when TEXAN BRANACH broke gait. Broke gait free of interference leaving the 1000 metres, given the gelding’s record connections were advised that it would be stood down from racing for a period of 14 days and would be required to perform 2 re-qualifying trials.

TEXAN BRANACH – Broke gait after the start for which a warning was issued. Over-raced during the middle stages of the event. Shifted out wider near the 600 metres to avoid BONDI BEACH NZ when it hung-out and broke gait a short distance later, given the circumstances no action was taken.

BERRYLICIOUS – Checked near the 600 metres when BONDI BEACH NZ hung-out and TEXAN BRANACH broke gait.

TOMMYS DREAM GIRL – Driver B Duck was fined the sum of $200 under Rule 156(2)(a) for using his whip with an action that was more than a wrist only flicking motion in the home straight.

AWAY GAME – Hung-in and contacted marker pegs near the 200 metres, and broke gait upon entering the home straight, given it was just the gelding’s third race start connections were advised that it would be required to perform a re-qualifying trial.

RACE 8 – TAB VENUE MODE PACE – 1740 metres

SHERMAN – Pre-race swab sampled. Held up for clear running rounding the home turn, prior to obtaining a run in the sprint lane.

MIAMI SURF – Caught racing three wide rounding the first turn, over-raced while being restrained to take up a position in the running line at the rear of the field, continued to over-race during the middle stages of the event.

NO MORE PROMISES – Over-raced during the middle stages of the event. Held up for clear running rounding the home turn.
