Hung-out under pressure in the home straight, and as a result bumped sulkies with ARTEMIS MISSION leaving the 100 metres resulting in Driver D Cernovskis becoming unbalanced and dropping his foot from his footrest. D Cernovskis was questioned regarding his tactics of racing three wide without cover for the majority of the race, he stated that he hoped to get a forward position at the start but was unable to when beaten for early speed by runners drawn to his inside. He added he then restrained in an endeavour to obtain a position with cover in the running line, but he was unable to get into a position and the gelding was racing keenly and he was having difficulty restraining it to last to get cover. He further added that he felt the pace of the race wasn’t quick and near the 1000 metres he decided to press forward and hoped to flush out JUST ROCK ME LOU NZ however that runner stayed in, resulting in him remaining without cover, so he continued forward and felt he was a chance of winning rounding the home turn, however the gelding just struggled in the final 100 metres.
DONNIE MAC – Driver K O'Sullivan who was struck in the face by a shoe during the race was examined by the on-course paramedics who cleared her of any major injuries but advised her to attend the Wagga Emergency Department for further treatment to a cut to her lip.
